SNF - Chiefs @ Patriots (Semi-)Official Thread (1 Viewer)

Expect a lot of plays like that.  Defenses are afraid to hit the QB anymore, and have to armtackle or push down, so QBs will be routinely escaping hits to make plays.

Last week’s game featured two or three plays where announcers were praising an immobile QB for “escaping” a defender that ran past him trying to wrap him up from the side.

Not your father’s NFL anymore.

the whole Mahones surge this year is impressive. Always makes you wonder how much success of an NFL QB is on the individual, and how much is on the coaching staff? Like if Mahones gets drafted by 10-13 other teams who were looking for a QB would he be this succesful? and give Reid and his coaches one of the 6-7 QBs who went in the 1st round this year, could he have them performing like this?

Collinsworth is drunk

He was off balance and couldn't hold onto Brady. Watch the defender's feet, he just was too far past him to hold on.

That reminded me of a play a bunch of years ago. Pretty sure it was a Giants defender (Osi maybe?) had Vince Young in his grasp and let him go in fear of being penalized.

And perfect example why just happened. Pats kick fg and now Kc has to score a td and can’t tie with a fg.
It also meant if the Pats were stopped on that 3rd down a FG would have tied in instead of taking the lead.

I think they probably should have gone for 2 there, but really you only do it if you think that's your last score of the game.  Once the Pats got the ball the odds were actually in favor of the XP being crucial.
