Yeah, by DJ's bye, you could be trotting out with bubkiss

I am having a hard time finding value in the lower priced players.  Dodds is an evil genius this year.  All along I said I was gonna take Peyton Barber, then he shows up at $13... no thanx.  At least I guessed right on Winston at $13, and I am pretty sure he will be on my final roster.

Not bad, I usually try (if I'm going three Ds and three Ks) to avoid having K and D on the same bye weeks. Four RBs is stretching you thin, but hey, I never won the thing so you may be onto something.

Yep. Struggling to make mine hit 18.

Hopefully some bargains appear over the coming weeks.
By bargains, do you mean injuries to starters?  It's OK, I am secretly wishing for the same thing, but probably the only person dumb enough to say it.

He said he wasn't looking at byes, so that's probably why he has conflicts.  As for only taking 4 RB's, last year's winner only had 4, and crazy as it sounds, only 4 WR's too.

Seems rigorous at first, but its early, some inevitable cheaper opportunity risks will present themselves. Hopefully not to an extent that they are unanimous picks or other high percent though, although what many subsequently do with the savings will likely differ.

After third attempt, 19 players and fairly satisfied at this point.  Now, it's time to see which sleepers really pop up during preseason.

Gonna share?
Going with only two QBs.  This could be risky, but with the prices on this year, just can't justify a third QB.  I'm a believer in Wentz, simple as that.  With him being healthy going into camp and with his weapons, I'm praying he recaptures some of that year two magic.  Carr could be an absolute steal.  He has a year under his belt with Gruden, some good weapons and what should be a solidified offensive line.

QB - Carson Wentz - PHI/10 - $19
QB - Derek Carr - OAK/6 - $9

These are negotiable, but I believe Chubb and Cook will be bell cows.  Shanahan seems to really like Coleman and he can grab those PPR points as well.  Penny I'm hoping shows why Seattle spent a first rounder on him and Denver is about to sign Riddick and he could make a good value play.  I was thinking about splurging on Kamara, but am a bit concerned how he dropped off towards the tail end of the season last year.

RB - Nick Chubb - CLE/7 - $25
RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24
RB - Tevin Coleman - SF/4 - $18
RB - Rashaad Penny - SEA/11 - $15
RB - Theo Riddick - FA/1--17 - $4

Hilton is Luck's go-to, and with OBJ taking the top CBs... could be a great year for Landry.  Darnold and Anderson had some dynamic chemistry at the end of last season, and well, Bloom keeps pimping Coutee so we'll see if he lives up to the hype.  I'm really hoping with Garroppolo back that he reconnects with Goodwin.
WR - T.Y. Hilton - IND/6 - $25
WR - Jarvis Landry - CLE/7 - $18
WR - Robby Anderson - NYJ/4 - $17
WR - Keke Coutee - HOU/10 - $12
WR - Marquez Valdes-Scantling - GB/11 - $11
WR - Marquise Goodwin - SF/4 - $8

Hunter Henry is a good value here, Rivers really loves him.  Graham... this is negotiable.
TE - Hunter Henry - LAC/12 - $17
TE - Jimmy Graham - GB/11 - $10

Kickers...
PK - Josh Lambo - JAX/10 - $4
PK - Austin Seibert - CLE/7 - $3

Two strong defenses for a reasonable price
TD - Denver Broncos - DEN/10 - $6
TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/8 - $5

First try:

QB - Dak Prescott - DAL/8 - $12
QB - Kirk Cousins - MIN/12 - $12
RB - Todd Gurley - LAR/9 - $28
RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24
RB - Devonta Freeman - ATL/9 - $23
RB - Miles Sanders - PHI/10 - $15
RB - Carlos Hyde - KC/12 - $9
WR - Allen Robinson - CHI/6 - $17
WR - Corey Davis - TEN/11 - $15
WR - James Washington - PIT/7 - $13
WR - Donte Moncrief - PIT/7 - $10
WR - DaeSean Hamilton - DEN/10 - $7
WR - Phillip Dorsett - NE/10 - $4
TE - Evan Engram - NYG/11 - $18
TE - Mike Gesicki - MIA/5 - $8
TE - Matt LaCosse - NE/10 - $6
PK - Dan Bailey - MIN/12 - $4
PK - Greg Joseph - CLE/7 - $3
PK - Matt Gay - TB/7 - $3
TD - Jacksonville Jaguars - JAX/10 - $7
TD - Houston Texans - HOU/10 - $6
TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - PIT/7 - $6

A first-pass team that I'll never keep:

QB - Kirk Cousins - MIN/12 - $12
QB - Tom Brady - NE/10 - $11

I'm higher on Cousins this year than most.  A new offensive line should give him more time to throw to Thielen and Diggs, who already combined for 215 catches last year.  I know you don't get points for completions, but completions mean yardage and hopefully TDs.

I hate Tom Brady, and I've never won this contest, so he'll be my scapegoat when I lose.

RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24
RB - Kerryon Johnson - DET/5 - $23
RB - David Montgomery - CHI/6 - $18
RB - Latavius Murray - NO/9 - $16
RB - Ronald Jones II - TB/7 - $13

Questioning the wisdom of having Cook with Cousins, but like I said - first pass.  I love Kerryon Johnson and think he's got top 5 potential.  I'll be surprised if he's not on my final roster.  Montgomery, Murray and Jones all have tremendous upside.  None are as cheap as I'd like, but I still think they outperform these prices.

WR - Robert Woods - LAR/9 - $22
WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/11 - $19
WR - Christian Kirk - ARI/12 - $15
WR - Marquez Valdes-Scantling - GB/11 - $11
WR - DeSean Jackson - PHI/10 - $11

Woods has found his niche with Goff, and Lockett has to pick up some of Doug Baldwin's productivity.  Kirk because Fitz has to fall off sometime, right?  MVS has had nothing but positive press all off-season, and I frankly like Jackson better than Jeffery in Philly - for a much lesser price.

TE - Travis Kelce - KC/12 - $29
TE - Jason Witten - DAL/8 - $8

There's a plan B for a $5 Gronk if he comes back (yeah, me and everyone else).  I think that Dak has missed a TE, and he'll go back to Witten often.

PK - Chris Boswell - PIT/7 - $4
PK - Daniel Carlson - OAK/6 - $3

Eh, they're kickers.  Boswell because I'm a Steelers fan, Carlson because I'm an Auburn fan.

TD - New York Giants - NYG/11 - $4
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/5 - $4
TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/4 - $3

I still managed to cobble together three defenses.  I hate playing with just one on a bye week, so that's a necessity.  I did sacrifice the third kicker (probably a more dangerous move than skipping a third D) but I think all three of these units have potential, without paying top dollar.

My for sure is Chris Carson.  I don't see how he's not on my team at that price.  Rashaad Penny doesn't scare me too much considering how well and often this team should run the ball and Pete Carroll's tendencies to use what works over using someone based on their draft value/contract amount.

I considered Riddick too, but after I thought it through, I passed.  He is seldom used in the running game, so you have to rely on his catches for points.  A good game for him would be 5 catches for 50 yards, which only amounts to 7.5 points in this contest.  With your current roster, I think he would be wasted money.  I think you would be better off spending that 4 bucks to upgrade Derek Carr, because there are 10 QB ranging from $10-13 that you may like alot better.

Nice first draft, Troll!

Why does it seem like the cheap guys who make noise in camp and end up being values in this thing all have late byes?  It's as if the NFL schedule makers are in cahoots with FBG.

First one. I’m sure the final will look much different.

QB - Jameis Winston - TB/7 - $13
QB - Kirk Cousins - MIN/12 - $12
RB - Todd Gurley - LAR/9 - $28
RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24
RB - Chris Carson - SEA/11 - $18
RB - Latavius Murray - NO/9 - $16

WR - Curtis Samuel - CAR/7 - $12
WR - Geronimo Allison - GB/11 - $10
WR - Antonio Callaway - CLE/7 - $6
WR - David Moore - SEA/11 - $6
WR - Phillip Dorsett - NE/10 - $4
TE - Hunter Henry - LAC/12 - $17
TE - Vance McDonald - PIT/7 - $16
TE - Ricky Seals-Jones - ARI/12 - $5
PK - Jason Myers - SEA/11 - $5
PK - Josh Lambo - JAX/10 - $4
PK - Dustin Hopkins - WAS/10 - $4
TD - Baltimore Ravens - BAL/8 - $7
TD - Atlanta Falcons - ATL/9 - $5

Did fairly well last year. TE is always the hardest for me but I like going with two who I think will finish top ten. Then I threw in RSJ because why not at $5? Mobile rookie QB has a safety blanket.

I usually go quality with RB’s and more quantity with WR’s.

There are quite a few QB’s I like so I’ll def be swapping them a lot. Prob some combination of Winston, Goff, Trubisky and Cousins.

I did some number crunching on defenses from last year's contest.  CHI blew away the league with an average of 10.27 PPG.  The next closest was KC at 8.  That 2.27 PPG gap was the same as the gap between D4 (the Rams, at 7.6 PPG) and D28 (a tie between DAL & TEN at 5.33 PPG).

Last year's top D was JAX at $10, and they finished tied for 24th at 5.4 PPG.  Their cost didn't scare off people, as they were owned by 1790 (5th most popular).  I imagine many will chase last year's stud and pony up the $10 for CHI this year.

How do the number of options compare to the past?  I was just looking for some deeper sleepers that I like, and noticed Jordan Scarlett, KeeSean Johnson, Hunter Renfrow, and Rashard Higgins among those who did not make the cut.

I'm at 21 with my

Top 2 rated QB this year

My #1 rated RB and #9 rated RB

One WR1

Three WR2

Two top 6 TE

By week 2 I'll have like 8 players left. Lol

Don’t care for the prices and lack of options.  Several viable strategies eliminated
Yea most years of this contest I have done very well with one stud WR and then a bunch of guys under $10.  I don’t see that as a viable option this year.

Grabbing a couple $2 defenses and a few $2-3 kickers allowed you to add some flyers at other positions.  Those are gone and the low end flyers are $4.

You don't really have the luxury to gamble on the low end players at RB/WR now.

I think with this year's pricing, you really need to justify every selection you make.  By that, just don't make selections because they sound good.  You really should explain to yourself exactly why you're making that pick.  Every dollar is valuable this year.

QB - Jared Goff - LAR/9 - $14
QB - Tom Brady - NE/10 - $11
RB - David Johnson - ARI/12 - $30
RB - Dalvin Cook - MIN/12 - $24

Welp, I don't think I've seen more than one player I've chosen on any of your rosters so I'm likely doomed. I suck at these, but here's my first cut:

QB - Lamar Jackson - 12
QB - Mitchell Trubisky - 12
RB - Sony Michel - 20
RB - Josh Jacobs - 20
RB - Derrius Guice - 17
RB - Darren Sproles - 5

WR - Brandin Cooks - 22
WR - Calvin Ridley - 20
WR - Tyler Boyd - 20
WR - Sammy Watkins - 15

TE - Mark Andrews - 9
PK - Mason Crosby - 5
PK - Matt Prater - 4
TD - Washington Redskins - 5
TD - Indianapolis Colts - 5

Total value: 250

My first pass through.  I typically have a roster in the range of about 27 players but that doesn’t seem feasible this year.  Didn’t really look at K or D yet those are just placeholders.
