TRUMP TO INFINITY AND BEYOND HQ - The Great and Positive Place (13 Viewers)

It was a criticism of the state of New Hampshire, its residents and the politicians who have failed there. No one, at the time, called his comments racist because they weren't. But go ahead and twist it to have a racial meaning.
He was talking about drugs coming from the southern border.  Seriously...it’s plain as day that again the drug infested statement was about that in context.

You're right. Its crap and BS to rip on Trump for silly comments today. He signed the bill, he deserves congratulations. Good for him.
No it isnt...because the foolish comments are the things he actually controlled.

A plus for the no brainer to sign the bill doesn't excuse the dumb things he said.

OK, but even if we use your interpretation of the statement is Trump incorrect in stating that New Hampshire has a drug infestation problem?  Your interpretation would actually make use of “infestation” even more appropriate because the drugs are coming in from out of state.

My interpretation has been that Trump uses different language when talking to or about minorities (or people of color or whatever term you want to use).  And this was brought as an example to refute that...but it only strengthens the original point.

OK, so what does "rat infested" have to do with race?
Well that wasnt what that post of mine was about.  But you can go back a few pages or read the tweet thread which discusses his comments to Cummings and why there were racial connotations.

If Trump called a minority community "drug infested" it would be a racist statement against the population but if he says it about a white community, it means an entirely different thing? Got it.

This post is obviously the right move here.  But let me ask you this, why are some people on your side refusing to give the President any credit for this?  I can’t believe some of the comments I’m reading.

Trump used the phrase "infested" when attacking nonwhites and when referring to immigrants.

Those seem to be the only situations where he uses that particular word.

The credit for what?  Writing his name?

Why does that excuse the lies about his efforts?  Why does it excise the poor joke about the stage collapsing?

They are consumed with hate for him and his supporters. They focus on it 24/7. They have a name for it but it isn't allowed here.

No, it doesn’t because “infestation” is referring to drugs, not people.

But presuming that he’s talking about Hispanic drug traffickers don’t you think that even other Hispanics view that subsection of Hispanics in a negative light and accuse them of infesting their communities?  Trump called MS-13 “animals”, and I think most Hispanics would agree.

Sanders made a comp to North Korea.

Why do you think Trump failed to mention NK as the "third world country"? Trump has never said a single bad word about life in the world's sole Stalinist gulag state and he does not want to insult them.
2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), during his prior presidential run in 2016, compared Baltimore to a “Third World country” while touring one of the city’s neighborhoods and subsequently tweeted, “Residents of Baltimore’s poorest boroughs have lifespans shorter than people living under dictatorship in North Korea. That is a disgrace.”

“Anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you’re in a wealthy nation,” the Socialist-Democrat Sanders told reporters after his December 2015 tour. “You would think that you were in a Third World country.”

Its about the language used...so yes...it does strengthen the point.  He doesn't use those words when talking about Pelois's district or other whites.  He uses them when talking to or about people of color.

The second point isn't really relevant to what was being discussed.

Amazing that 3 years ago Sanders wasn't made fun of for not doing the same thing as Trump did.

Also..we have seen Trump's tweets on Baltimore from years ago where he blamed it on Obama.

:lmao:

This is precisely what I just said.

Trump refused to mention it was NK that Sanders was making the comp to.

Here's Trump on NK:
That has absolutely nothing to do with Sanders. Nice try to deflect. :lmao:

"Anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you’re in a wealthy nation,” the Socialist-Democrat Sanders told reporters after his December 2015 tour. “You would think that you were in a Third World country.”

You just quoted specifically Sanders making the comp to North Korea. Read your link, please.

He compared Baltimore to a third world country. If Trump said that your heads would be exploding.

Sanders made the comp to North Korea.

This is what Trump had to say about North Korea:

"I think that your country has tremendous economic potential, unbelievable, unlimited," Trump said. "And I think that you will have a tremendous future with your country, a great leader. I look forward to watching it happen and helping it to happen. And we will help it to happen."

No my quote from Sanders says "a third world country". The extent you guys go to is unreal.

This is from your link above. Please at least read your own stuff.

Yet you ignore his other comment comparing Baltimore to A Third world country. I am not surprised at the hypocrisy by some of you on this. If Trump said what Sanders did you guys would be outraged.
Is there an English problem here? You think Sanders made reference to a third world country, then made a whole other separate comp to NK? You think he had some other, second 3rd world country in mind?

I think there's a serious possibility that he doesn't understand what "third world country" means.

eta: there's certainly the possibility that he's being deliberately obtuse and thus using Cold War parameters to place North Korea into the "Second World" category, along with the former Eastern Bloc countries. But given the poster's history, I doubt it. That would be more of a Maurile thing.

No, there is a a hypocrisy problem here. He compared life spans in Baltimore to NK but then he said this...

“Anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you’re in a wealthy nation,” the Socialist-Democrat Sanders told reporters after his December 2015 tour. “You would think that you were in a Third World country.”

I am done with this subject with you. It's not a good look for you.

I'm not trying to be difficult with you. If you're saying that Sanders was comparing Baltimore's environment to a third world country but specifically compared life spans in Baltimore to NK, fine. It doesn't seem very rational to separate the two though, obviously living conditions are directly related to life span.

I can’t imagine living my life with such anger day in and day out
In my lifetime we’ve had a couple Presidents with a soaring, optimistic vision: Reagan and Obama. Trump has done the opposite. He has pushed a dark, negative, bigoted message of division and exclusion.

So don’t be surprised when people respond to it with anger. Sew the wind, reap the whirlwind.

When Biden refers to Trump as an aberration, I think this is what he's referring to. Almost the whole history of the country's presidents has been one of optimism by and large.

And for those that want to focus on the North Korea comment....there aren't many white people there and based on how you want to rip on Trump then you should apply that same standard to Sanders for what he said not to mention his reference to a third world country as well. But we get it....Orange man bad. Liberals and a socialist good. :lmao:

I'll dial it back a bit as it must seem harsh via the net. The point is obvious, Trump's attack on Bal can't be racist because Sanders criticized living conditions there. My point is just that Trump lavishes praise on leaders and countries who stand against American principles and interests, while he attacks US cities simply because their Reps/Senators are doing their jobs by criticizing him.

Same reason imo Obama haters won’t give him any credit for his accomplishments, Bush haters for his etc etc.  It’s largely a Red Team/Blue Team thing.

And there is no doubt in my mind that if there was a black or Latino candidate who shared your views, most of you guys would vote for him eagerly.

But- I will disagree with @Joe Bryant to this extent: while most Trump fans are not racist, they’re also not stupid. I think you guys know deep down the game he is playing here when he tweets about people of color he is opposed to  and uses bigoted language. I think that you don’t really need the rest of us to tell you it’s bigoted, you know it. You tolerate it because you want him to win (more precisely, because you want the other side to lose) but you’re uneasy about it. That’s my guess anyhow.
Not sure about the bolded, the main angry left talking point in here is they are stupid?
