What a tire fire last nights Democrat debate was. :lmao:  Trump was the big winner again.

I like Joe and I understand his points but he went a little overboard this morning. It was not at all a win for Trump.

Free healthcare for all illegal aliens sounds like a winning formula

Let's set this straight.  It's healthcare for EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY. That includes US citizens. You're right. That does sound like a winning formula.

No ####ing clue how we ever make it happen, but hey, it's just debate fodder anyway.

If you can’t effectively provide it for your own citizens though why are you committing to provide it for those here illegally? It’s nuts and not realistic but hey it makes the crowd clap right.

Peru did it for almost a million Venezuelans. Then they wore out their welcome. How did Peru do it? It wasn't the Cadillac plan, but come on, Peru offered something.

Op-Ed from Peggy Noonan in the WSJ...can't share subscription link but these are some key takeaways on the Democratic debates and general approach:

America's elites in politics, media and the academy have grown oblivious to "the average Joe's intense disgust" at being morally instructed and "preached to."

"Every day, Americans are told of the endless ways they are falling short. If we don't show the 'proper' level of understanding according to a talking head, then we are surely racist. If we don't embrace every sanitized PC talking point, then we must be heartless. If we have the audacity to speak our mind, then we are most definitely a bigot." These accusations are relentless.

It's surely not about the man at this point. It stopped being about Trump long ago. It is about that counter-punch that has been missing from our culture for far too long."

It was as if they were saying, "Hi, middle-American people who used to be Democrats and voted for Trump, we intend to alienate you again. Go vote for that jerk, we don't care."

Another problem: America has a painful distance between rich and poor, but it is hard to pound the "1%" hammer effectively in a nation enjoying functional full employment. Our prosperity is provisional and could leave tomorrow, but right now America's feeling stronger.

Anyhow back to this. Serious question for you: do you understand that Yang’s idea of the Basic Income Guarantee is nothing new and has been promoted by many conservative economists, including Milton Friedman? It’s also not meant to represent a free handout but a reallocation of existing government expenditure.

I think we’re going to have to do it at some point in the future. Yang is ahead of his time but the fact is that in the next few decades we’re going to lose 30% of our jobs to automation, and they’re not coming back. That’s not far into the future; it’s starting right now. Amazon has a new convenience store called Amazon Go: 2 locations are open already. There is no cashier, nobody works in the store during the day. You buy your items by pointing your phone at them and walking out. Bezos is planning 3,000 of these stores to open by 2021- more than existing 7-11s (which it will kill). It’s happening now.

I'd be all for this if we truly would get the offset of existing government expenditures.  I have zero faith that we will and that people can/will manage these funds and not need another safety net entitlement to save them.

I think you're right.  He didn't look mentally sharp to me.  It was actually a sad thing.  I don't agree with Joe Biden on a lot of policies but most everyone who has met him talks about what a genuinely nice and decent guy he is.

I think his line of thinking is Trump's best chance of re-election is for the Democrats to go hard left, thereby forcing those in the middle to choose between him and rhetoric or past personal actions they may not like, and what many will perceive as a socialist candidate.  Everyone on that stage short of Biden, Bennett, Delaney, Hickenlooper can easily be painted into the extreme left/socialist prism.  Let's face it, Barack Obama's insurance initiative is far to the right of these candidates.  Never did he discuss covering illegal immigrants, much less in some cases like Sanders and Harris propose outright banning private insurance.  Harris has since tried to backtrack a bit.  But the swing to the far left is clear.  I believe Joe's thoughts were that this is Trump's best path to winning those upper midwestern states again.

Trump needs to quit taking the bait with the USWNT.  Just invite the 15-year old boys club team from Texas that waxed them last year to the White House.

So because boys are stronger and faster than girls, the women's team isn't worthy of being invited?

Go against Dear Leader and the response is typical.

Pretty sure if I barfed at AOC in her thread I would have been banned.

I was just joking with you which I think you know.

I can understand hating Trump but I can't understand hating Ivanka.

Yeah not down with the banning thing.  Not a fan

Just jabbin’ back at ya.  It’s all good.

I don’t hate her, just have exactly zero desire to see her in office.  I’ve had my fill of all things Trump.

I don’t hate Ivanka at all. She is the most likeable Trump by a mile.  She still has no business caucusing with world leaders at the G20.  And the look on those leaders’ faces when she interrupts makes me think they agree.

The thing about Trump breaking all the “rules” is that when the next “lefty/lib/socialist” comes into office and does some of the same things those on the right won’t have a leg to stand on for their complaining.

Rules?  I honestly don't get what you are talking about.  You are that upset about Ivanka talking with other world leaders?

It’s why rules is in quotation marks, as in unwritten rules.

I’m not “upset”.  But be honest, how do you think the right would have reacted to Obama or Clinton doing the same?  It’s very autocratic and reeks of nepotism.  For anyone to act like it’s normal behavior for a President is just being disingenuous.

Just saw this and had to ask. If 20 million Russian peasants came across the southern border to vote for trump would that be ok with you liberals?

:coffee:

Yes.  Pretty sure you don’t want to be quoting Curt Schilling when your trying to own the Libs.

Why does Curt just assume that 20 million Russians would automatically vote for Trump?

Russian bots perhaps?

I saw that tweet being shared on social media and it made me shake my head. How anyone thinks that is some awesome jab at anyone then I feel a little sad for them.

What hypocrisy? I just said I’d be fine with it.  Why don’t you try reading (and comprehending) what people write sometime.

Didn’t this already happen? I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a few million people descended from Russian peasant stock in this country right now.

Sorry we don’t do Kyle Griffen, Daniel Dale or the Krassenstein brothers here.  You can get plenty of those goons hot takes in the “Trump Years” over flowing sewer of hate though,

Because after watching your act in the Russia conspiracy thread over the years it’s obvious that’s not true.
