TRUMP TO INFINITY AND BEYOND HQ - The Great and Positive Place (5 Viewers)

Sweet links! Doesn't disprove anything I said but I'm glad you took the time to compile them!

Does beg the question though:

If Obamacare is that bad, how come the GOP can't come up with anything better?
Your quote....."but passing it was WAY bigger than anything Trump has "gotten done". That isn't true.

The silence from Trump on the World Series booing is deafening. He went into the game expecting accolades from Sunday morning's ISIS announcement, only to be dragged on national television in front of millions of viewers.

Umm...you forgetting the ACA?

You may not like Obamacare, but passing it was WAY bigger than anything Trump has "gotten done".

Trump on the other hand, still doesn't have anything to replace it, almost 3 years after getting into office. And we're not talking about passing a new plan, we're talking about having a plan to begin with.
I try to forget it as it has made my family’s insurance almost unaffordable and quality of insurance deteriorates annually. There is a thread that goes into great detail on this with a lot of great info from @matttyl

It's objectively a bigger achievement than anything Trump has accomplished.

What landmark legislation has Trump passed?
Arguably his greatest achievements, in the eyes of supporters, might be not what he's passed but what he's rolled back.

Regulations, treaties, agreements, etc.  He's also been a prolific appointer of conservative judges.

It's objectively a bigger achievement than anything Trump has accomplished.

i will say as an indepent contractor from 2011 thru 2014....the cost of healthcare for me and my family under obama care was insane.....great plan if you are poor.....if you make any money.....well fudge

I'll say again:

If Obamacare is so bad, how come the GOP can't come up with anything better after all these years?
I believe it's answered multiple times in the Obamacare thread. If you don't want to look there I think the common sense answer is once one party comes in and over promises a bunch of giveaways that can never be paid for and never live up to Politics 101 would say it's not too popular to come in and take away all those freebies.....even if they weren't real. You should go check out the thread, alot of great info.

I try to forget it as it has made my family’s insurance almost unaffordable and quality of insurance deteriorates annually. There is a thread that goes into great detail on this with a lot of great info from @matttyl
Thanks.  The ACA has done that to quite a lot of people.  It has also given ~20M people some coverage (that vast, vast majority of which is just Medicaid).  It's falling apart, though.  We're quickly getting to the point I called years ago - that we'd have fewer people on individual private health insurance because of the ACA than we had before it, and we're spending hundreds of millions if not billions a year to do it.  It's amazing that so many smart people couldn't see it coming.

"Maybe if I just copy and paste a big list of random stuff it won't seem like Trump has failed to pass anything of substance"
I view this post as being off-topic to the thread. It's really a criticism of somebody else's posting style. I'm giving Skoo a one-week suspension for this post under Rule #2. And I feel bad about it because it's a fairly light offense, but if we're going to see if the experiment works, we have to enforce the rules.

Polls are funny.

Here's a fun factoid from that poll

Communism is viewed favorably by more than one-in-three Millennials (36%), up 8 points from 2018.

You guys and your polls..Quit it already for God's sake
OMG.  Millennials obviously need better education on this.  Very, very scary thinking about the future if they don't get educated.

Political fallout.  It would be taking coverage away from people who now have it (which is the same thing the ACA did, actually).
Except one of his major campaign promises was to repeal and replace the ACA. Why would there be political fallout for something people elected him to do?

Good graphs. The Trump economy has continued most of the trends which started under Obama, which is an accomplishment. But at the expense of an increasing budget deficit which will potentially adversely affect the youngest and oldest citizens the most, and the wealthy and upper middle class the least.

Wait just one second......you are telling me politicians don’t deliver every single promise? Is this new? :o
Oh it's VERY new..Completely new to the Trump administration.  Just had this discussion with my extremely anti Trump brother in law.

I guess lying by politicians has begun by Trump.  I gently tried to remind him that every politician lies, but he wouldn't have any of that.  Trump and only Trump.

Not everyone voted for him.  He also promised a wall.
You can’t get everyone to agree that the Earth isn’t flat, so there will always be disagreements. The wall promise just adds to Skoo’s point that he has no major legislative achievements.

Again, his promise was a repeal and replace.  I'm just asking about repeal.  More people would be helped rather than harmed by repeal only (assume the market reverts back to what it was) - but repeal only wasn't his promise.

Wouldn’t the ‘replace’ in this situation be the old system?

If you've got an issue with the numbers in the articles I linked I'd be happy to discuss.
Didn't read it.   I avoid the WAPO and Business Insider because I find them biased in their reporting.

This is a good rebuttal

ETA:  I didnt read this one either, but I am willing to bet it has different numbers than the ones you linked to..  Just sayin.

I enjoy the subtle acknowledgment that all of the previous claims about "new" construction was just a lie.
This has been talked about here. First, they had to upgrade some of the current walls and it would take time to get all the necessary permits for new construction.
OK. But Trump claimed on multiple occasions that new wall had already been built. The Fox story would indicate that all of those claims were lies.
