For 3 and a half years now this has been the go to response from Trump supporters around here whenever there is a criticism they really don’t want to answer. It’s always been nonsensical.

Well as we’ve been saying for like ever there are 47 other threads to poo on him. Perhaps you could move these types of posts there?

for the life of me I don’t understand why you even post in this thread.

His results are not good. Could go down the list but will save us time.

Record deficits, nation divided, ridiculous response to COVID would head the list.

Good for you, owning it, well part of it

So why do you keep couching “lying” with “exaggerating”.  Because you do care and you’re trying to slant things.  The problem with that Opie is it doesn’t lineup at all with what you’ve been opining about around here for a weeks now.  The Truth!!!  You can’t be a bastion of the truth, a lecturer standing on your pulpit trying to lead us MSM sheep if you don’t live it yourself.  All without the slightest bit of irony that you’re preaching the truth while supporting a liar (and “not caring”). You seem like an intelligent dude, how you can’t see these hypocrites only shows us you don’t want to.

Hi @OpieI appreciate your last post. The economy HAS improved incredibly under President Trump, (up until the pandemic, of course) and I’m not one of those liberals who is going to argue that Obama deserves all the credit. That’s silly. Trump has done 3 things that has spurred the economy:

1. He cut taxes on the wealthy. According to conservative doctrine, this creates jobs and it has. Progressive doctrine would argue that these jobs are low paying, that it hasn’t achieved more spending power, that it’s basically a transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the already wealthy. I suspect that the conservative argument is true short term and the liberal argument more true long term. But it’s debatable.

2. He’s spent government money like a drunken sailor. This is not necessarily bad; liberal economists from Keynes to the present day have no problem with this. But it’s worth noting that if Trump has been a Democrat and done the exact same thing I suspect you and other conservatives would have been all over him for it.

3. He’s cut red tape for our old energy industries. For me this is the most problematic. Rather than look forward to how we’re going to function in the future world of climate change and try to transition to that world, Trump has opted for the easy solutions of oil, coal, and fracking. In so doing I believe he is taking a bad gamble with our future, and that of our children and grandchildren.

Park Police walk back tear gas denial in aggressive Lafayette Park clearing

WASHINGTON - A U.S. Park Police spokesperson said Friday it was a “mistake” to insist in a statement Tuesday that no tear gas was used to clear Lafayette Park on Monday before President Trump walked across to visit St. John’s Church.

However, the spokesperson insisted that  Park Police did not lie, explicitly noting that pepper balls were shot. Pepper balls can cause irritation to the eyes and cause tears.

MSNBC now reporting that President Trump has told his campaign he doesn’t want anyone in the audience in Tulsa to wear masks. He wants to look out and see a packed hall, mask-free. He wants the same for his convention speech in Jacksonville.

Meanwhile Dr. Fauci (remember him?) just gave an interview on ABC in which he stated that attending a political rally is very dangerous and if you absolutely insist on going, wear a mask.

The CDC must not have received the memo from the DNC.

"CDC breaks its three-month silence to advise Americans to wear masks and avoid elbow bumps, but it does not discourage large crowds - while claiming spike in infections in newly-reopened states could be due to increased testing"

"As summer approaches, the CDC held its press briefing to announce its newly-issued guidelines for how to stay safe in gatherings and crowds - but did not advise against them".

Riddle me this....why is it that NOBODY is associating Joe Biden with "large crowds".

This should be great news for ol' hidin' Biden....this is the green light for him to get out of the basement and start packin' 'em in!!

He can start with a McDonald's Play house in downtown Concord!

Two recent high quality studies show a reduce rate of infection associated with masks and social distancing.  One study from Germany compared a town that adopted face masks early to matched controls from other towns, while another study was from sailors on the Theodore Roosevelt.

I post in this thread because I want to discuss Donald Trump with smart people who disagree with me about Donald Trump. Talking to people that agree with me is boring. I would much rather have a conversation with someone like you, so long as you’re honest, smart, and willing to offer ideas rather than just cheerlead.

The wearing a face mask continues to be one of the weirder things people get wound up on. I don't get it.

Can anyone explain this?

I don't agree with you much but I agree with this.  What's the big whoop?

I really feel like if this report is true, and that is certainly an IF, then I think the Donald must be slipping at what he’s actually good at.  Branding.  Seems like this is an excellent branding and sales opportunity.  The Donald of old would be thinking about everybody in that audience wearing a face mask they purchased off of his website for $19.99, which he had made in China for $1.99, with some catchy anti-Biden or down with the Democrats slogan on it.  Age might be finally catching up with him.

Common ground!

It really is bizarre. They do suck to wear for long periods of time in terms of comfort but it’s such an easy thing to do and they help protect you, protect others, etc.

I honestly think with Trump it’s almost 100% a vanity thing.

Please Tim, covid fear mongering is so three weeks ago. Can’t you find some statues to rip down or something?

I think 60%. Another 20% is that he wants to send the message that the pandemic is over; the mask tells us that the pandemic is still with us, and Trump thinks that message hurts the economy.
The final 20% is a big screw you to the experts which so many conservatives seem to subscribe to these days. They love thumbing their nose at the know it alls, whether they are pollsters, climate scientists, or public health experts.
