goal line offense play idea for the playoffs (1 Viewer)

Bromigo
is it legal to have a real small guy get the ball and then have some really big guys just pick him up and throw him and the ball over the endzone line for a td to win a game i mean i guess you could run it at least one time before the defense lined a small corner up and had a big guy throw him at the small guy with the ball while he was in the air but even if that happened it would be pretty cool it would be like the cornerback getting chucked around was a patriot anti aircraft missile and the offensive little guy was a scud missile so that is my idea do you like it or what take that to the bank bromigos

I recommend signing the guy at the circus that gets shot out of the cannon. By comparison the NFL will be a piece of cake to him.

Technically it is illegal for other players to assist in advancing the ball carrier.

The rule is completely ignored when it comes to pilepushing, but somehow I think it would be enforced for a play such as you describe.

Unless it was done by the Patriots against the Raiders.  Then it would probably hold up.
The fact that it is ignored drives me  crazy. No way should it be allowed

This was allowed in college football.  They would actually sew a leather handle on to the  back off the pants of a smaller player and throw him over the goal line.  It was outlawed in the early 1900's.
its actually where the phrase he has great handles originated and was first uttered by early nfl innovator ole amos staggs although now that phase has been hijacked and is mostly used regarding basketball players anyhow the handle was outlawed after one broke during an early allegany athletic association game and four fans and one roasted nuts vendor were killed take that to the bank brohans

In this same vein, whenever a guy jumps to catch a pass kind of near the sidelines I've always wondered why no one has ever tried to just catch him and carry him out of bounds. Take that to the sidelines bromigos.
They do, when they can.  Normally though, when a guy's open enough to catch the ball, he's open enough to come down.

i like the jib of your cut and i will subscribe to your newsletter or pick a guy up and body slam him into a portable heater he never touches the ground and so no catch and he is probably out of the game from the bruising and second degree burns take that to the bank brochachos

I've never seen it tried. Plenty of guys try and push when they're right on the sidelines but I've never seen anyone just grab a guy around the waist when they're up in the air and carry them to the boundary.

I’ve wondered this too. And why don’t more guys try to tap or toss the ball back in play to a teammate before they land when a ball is thrown just out of play? Obviously it’s not the easiest thing in the world to do but I feel like a few times a year you see plays where a DB has a play on the ball by the sideline and is in the air not able to come down in bounds but has time to pitch it back in play. I think I remember it happening in a college bowl game several years back. I want to say it involved UNC.

Dwarf tossing may be frowned upon by some.

On goal line fade routes or sideline 50/50 balls I don't know why defenders don't just position themselves to let the WR jump up and catch the ball but just wrap him up and walk him out of bounds.  If he doesn't catch it great, if he does great.  Incomplete.

Why not sign a 7'2 international basketball player to try and block FGs.

College high jump champion for goal line leaps.  Get a running start from 9 yards back.

On long FG attempts, I know it's okay to put a return guy back in the end zone in case it is short.  But is there such a thing as goal tending like in the NBA?  Have a 6'10 basketball player who can leap out the gym jump up and deflect any 57 yard FG that will barely make it over the bar.  Legal?

i know in major league baseball you can not take off your glove and throw it at a ball or any other clothing but the rule is funny it says article of clothing i think it is rule 7 or something so to me why not just bring in a huge fishing net if you are in the outfield and use that cause brohans a net aint an article of clothing so i guess the same thing would go for football but it would have to be hidden so that the kicking team did not know what was afoot then bam they kick a 25 yarder only to have none other than brett favre reappear on d and hold up a 45 foot long fishing net and snag the kick unfortunately old bert would probably somehow throw six interceptions after he got the ball back but we could work with things from there that is all i am sayin take that to the bank bromigos

i guess i also think the baseball rule says you cant throw stuff at the ball but it doesnt say you cannot use your glove to fling it at a baserunner and trip them you cant score if your laying on the ground from a well placed samauri glove dart take that to the bank brohans

With the high-jump champion, I assume the issue is most of those guys are too slight and would get physically destroyed by the defense. It's a lot harder to do the Fosbury Flop when a 275 lb. LB is slamming into you in mid-air.

As for the FG blocker, I don't know if it's legal, but even if it were, the league leader in 50+ attempts this year was Joey Slye, with 11. The average across the league was around five. And of course, only a small percentage of those attempts were close enough to the crossbar where even a really good jumper could have gotten to them. It's just not worth wasting a roster spot on something that might only happen once or twice a season. It would be like if that Auburn guy had tried to make it onto an NFL roster as their "kick six" specialist.

The pile pushing and helping the RB is out of control.  I saw one play this year when the OT grabbed the RB by his shoulder pads and dragged him over the goal line.

Seems discriminatory against dwarfs.  I think a big guy like JJ Watt could toss one of them little rascals holding the ball a good five yards and over the outstretched hands of the tallest defender.  Like a keg toss, but with dwarfs.

no i am not saying anything about dwarfs i just mean a smaller guy that a big strongman would be able to throw around like a rag doll and just pick him up and chuck him 10 yard over the pile i guess one problem would be throwing him out the back of the end zone and into the wall or stands but hey if you are in lambeau they would catch you and love you even more take that to the bank bromigos

Don't have to set foot, or back, or anything else on the end zone turf, just break the plane.  Tossing a ball carrier into the stands, over the end zone would count.

When the goalposts were still at the goal line in the early 70's a defender was allowed to swat away field goal attempts at the goal line.  Kansas City had a big defensive end that would get several blocks a year that way.

Possibility of some confusion if he went over the goal post, is that a field goal or a T.D.  Have to go to video to see if he was thrown or kicked.

This gave me an idea.  Why not have a all midget football league?  There would be no size advantage and everybody would be on an equal playing field. The key is you would have to be a true midget not just a short guy like Doug Flutie or Darrin Sproles.

They could install a 2nd net just below the one that catches field goals.

Announcer: "And he's into the net for a touchdown!"

this is the kind of thinking most nfl offenses need and that we sure as heck could use more of around these here parts take that to the bank hoardmigo

Maybe they could have a really fat guy with still good core muscle tone line up at Q.B., in the pistol and have him lay down flat on his back.  Have a gymnast, a vaulter, take a direct snap behind him deep in the I formation.  He runs up, bounces off the fat guy's belly like a spring board and does a double somersault with a twist and sticks the landing in the end zone.
