Would a required 50-50 split in Senate and Congress work? (1 Viewer)

I know it will never happen but heard a pundit on the radio saying that since we are a 2 party system a mandate that congress and senate each have equal seats allotted.  That way every and all issues would have to be worked out together across party lines instead of holding the party line every vote.

Better or worse?

That’s sorta the way the Federal Election Commission is designed.  Six Commissioners, three from each party.

It is widely viewed as among the most toothless and dysfunctional agencies.

Kind of undermines the idea of elections.

If we HAVE to have a Democrat, the DNC will choose the nominee.

If we HAVE to have a Republican, the RNC will choose the nominee.

It’s a completely horrible idea to lock in seats for a party no matter how stupid that party becomes. It’s also a bad idea to allow zero seats to a third party no matter how awesome it becomes.
That pretty much describes the current system....
