I understand and hesitated to put that in. But the fact is, when Democrats had to choose between two candidates for President whose main difference revolved around this question, they overwhelmingly chose the guy that preferred Obamacare. Most polls have shown a majority of Democrats supporting Medicare for All. For example, 68% in this poll.
Umm...I think there is much more difference between Bernie and Biden than just healthcare.I understand and hesitated to put that in. But the fact is, when Democrats had to choose between two candidates for President whose main difference revolved around this question, they overwhelmingly chose the guy that preferred Obamacare.
Sure. But it was the most important difference. And in fact nearly EVERY difference between them is a repudiation of @BladeRunner’s argument.Umm...I think there is much more difference between Bernie and Biden than just healthcare.
I think its hard to say that is really the most important difference. M4All is part of Bernies overall economic philosophy as well, I don't think you can just separate it from all of Bernie. Nor do I think voters took it that way and voted to say...well, Bernie is for M4All so I will vote Biden. I think its strange to boil that choice down to one issue.Sure. But it was the most important difference. And in fact nearly EVERY difference between them is a repudiation of @BladeRunner’s argument.
But I don't have that many things to say about Tucker. That comment could go for every thread in the PSF.
A massive percentage of those voters already had "Medicare for Themselves" and didn't want their taxes to go up to help everyone elseI understand and hesitated to put that in. Aren't you the guy that's always fearmongering everyone here that we only have 20-30 years (even less by some estimates) to get this right if we want to save the planet?Let’s discuss this opinion.
1. the extreme left want to impose the Green New Deal. I do not. Like Joe Biden and the vast majority of Democrats , I want to tackle climate change, but the restrictions that GND would impose on our economy are too drastic.
My only conclusion from this is most of what he does is an act to get viewers. And it appears it's working.Staying on the actual topic... I find Carlson to be one of the most interesting people in media. There are times when he goes against the grain of the establishment talking points when discussing populism, ending the wars etc where I strongly agree and really want to like him. Then a day or two later he goes off on a "borderline" (used VERY loosely) racist rant about black people coming for you or whatever and I can't believe how the guy is on TV.
He's a very interesting fellow.
Yea that definitely could be... I assume most of these "personalities" schtick is just the result of focus group data.My only conclusion from this is most of what he does is an act to get viewers. And it appears it's working.
It's definitely schtick in a lot of cases.Yea that definitely could be... I assume most of these "personalities" schtick is just the result of focus group data.
There does seem to be a bit of a populist right movement that simultaneously encourages me and scares the hell out of me. Matt Stoller had an interesting article about that a while back about how Rubio, Hawley and Cotton are filling that void. I don't mind the first two but Cotton specifically scares the heck out of me since ending the wars is my #1 issue over all else. Still, I do side with populism more often than not so at least there's something good there.

I think it's interesting seeing the attacks on Duckworth lately, just the fact of it and from what quarters. I also thought it interesting that TC didn't bother telling his viewers more than Duckworth had "once served in the military." No mention of anything else. My guess is some Trump supporters will be pretty surprised by the contrast of this hero with what they have been told about the opposition should she be the choice.Encyclopedia Brown said:On his show tonight, Carlson accused Senator Tammy Duckworth of hating America.

If they debated would mommy have to stand next to Pence on stage?Pence would go running to mommy.
So just more flat out lying to people...cool, Im sure the Fox lawyers love that.
Yes, after following the link, I found the longer link on twitter where he talks about how Denmark and some other countries have reopened schools without masks and distancing. I think his argument hinges on the ideas that children are at a vastly lower risk than adults and also that if infected their lower viral shed makes them a minor (no pun intended) disease vector. The first idea seems pretty incontrovertible. I imagine the second one is a lot more contentious.Joe Summer said:Carlson is actually making a defensible point here.
It's not too far off from the official positions being promoted by the World Health Organization.
On the other hand, his viewers must be confused with his flip-flopping between "TRUST THE WHO!" and "DEFUND THE WHO!"
Hard to argue with that fact.I do have one thing though - his confused look always cracks me up or makes me want to punch him. One or the other.
This is a misrepresentation of the facts. Masks seem to help with adults. Kids don’t seem to do very well without masks and kids in other countries who are attending school don’t have a higher infection rate even though they are not wearing masks.phandango said:Tucker Carlson yesterday: "Many schools that do plan to reopen will do so under a series of restrictions that have no basis of any kind in science. It's kind of a bizarre health theater. Students will be kept six feet apart, everyone will have to wear a mask, class sizes will be limited."
Tucker Carlson on his March 30 show: "Of course, masks work. Everyone knows that. Dozens of research papers have proved it. In South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, the rest of Asia -- where coronavirus has been kept under control -- masks were key."

I'm thinking if anyone is an expert on bizarre theater, it's Tucker Carlson. Unfortunately, those who recognize it as such aren't his target audience.
Honest question as I don't know and you seem to have the info. What countries are/were battling surging numbers and sent kids to school without masks? This is a misrepresentation of the facts. Sweden, Netherlands and one Asian country I believe (he listed them in the segment). Pediatricians also believe kids should go back to school. They are worried about mental health. If suicide goes up 1% that death rate would be higher than current children’s COVID deaths for children. (In segment). Kids apparently have very mild reaction to COVID and rarely transmit to adults because their virus load is so small.Honest question as I don't know and you seem to have the info. Oh ok, it’s from a Tucker segment, I’ll check that out then. ThanksSweden, Netherlands and one Asian country I believe (he listed them in the segment). Not sure about the mild reaction part, they can have some nasty reactions, just not the same ones.Sweden, Netherlands and one Asian country I believe (he listed them in the segment). I think a follow up question would be what were their safety protocols when they did open up vs. what we might be doing?Honest question as I don't know and you seem to have the info. What countries are/were battling surging numbers and sent kids to school without masks?
The green new deal was 95 percent socialistic fantasy and 5 percent let's fix the climate. Opposing the green new deal simply means you actually read it and are not a communist.Aren't you the guy that's always fearmongering everyone here that we only have 20-30 years (even less by some estimates) to get this right if we want to save the planet?
And yet you think we have the time to be anything but drastic here? All I can conclude from this part of your post is that you're not serious about fighting climate change.
There’s many, I just don’t have the info. I know in Japan, they handled COVID awhile ago. Everyone their wore masks and they pretty much stopped COVID spread super quickly. We have had resistance to masks and the numbers are way way beyond anything Japan saw so I just wonder if it’s an apples to apples comparison.I think a follow up question would be what were their safety protocols when they did open up vs. what we might be doing?
I am doubting that many other countries are going the "your school will be open full time or they don't get funding" approach. There’s many, I just don’t have the info. Actually no, the segment was about masks and the uproar here was about masks. Those countries listed did not require masks for kids.I think a follow up question would be what were their safety protocols when they did open up vs. what we might be doing?
Look the teachers have a job to do, teach, evidence so far is leaning towards it safe to open schools. Dr’s are for it. If teachers and teachers unions don’t want to do their job then no they should not get funding. Pretty simple it seems to me.I am doubting that many other countries are going the "your school will be open full time or they don't get funding" approach.
Numbers are also up because we are testing more. Of course numbers are up. However deaths are down. This is rarely emphasized though. Gotta keep the hysteria up.There’s many, I just don’t have the info. I know in Japan, they handled COVID awhile ago. Everyone their wore masks and they pretty much stopped COVID spread super quickly. He also mentioned being 6 feet apart - did those countries also not practice social distancing?Actually no, the segment was about masks and the uproar here was about masks. Those countries listed did not require masks for kids.
Hospitalizations and death lag behind the positive cases. But I hope people like you are right that the death % stays down.Numbers are also up because we are testing more. Of course numbers are up. However deaths are down. This is rarely emphasized though. Gotta keep the hysteria up.
no clueHe also mentioned being 6 feet apart - did those countries also not practice social distancing?
They can teach in a safe manor, and they can teach online. I don't think many of them don't want to do their job. It's the "do it full time" or the funding is cut part that they probably have issue with.Look the teachers have a job to do, teach, evidence so far is leaning towards it safe to open schools. Death % has been going down and not due to lag. Maybe its due to democrat mayors not putting sick old people back in with healthy ones at nursing homes?Hospitalizations and death lag behind the positive cases. But I hope people like you are right that the death % stays down.
Do you have kids? Online or distance learning is a joke. Its the best they could do and I commend them on the effort but it really sucked and stats show this. Heck just ask anyone with kids what they thought of it.They can teach in a safe manor, and they can teach online. I don't think many of them don't want to do their job. Same here. two. It sucked. This was also covered in Tuckers show.Yep, I have 2.
My prediction is deaths will go up and death rate will go down and folks will still be arguing. Rinse repeat while hotspots implement temporary measures.Hospitalizations and death lag behind the positive cases. But I hope people like you are right that the death % stays down.
