So....anyone know what’s going on with this?  Sounds like renaming the team could be the least of their troubles.

Plus:

Front office and team personnel ####### media members in exchange for scoops and leaks. Protecting leadership, coaches, players from getting in trouble with their wives, etc and then using that information for blackmail, leaks and to keep people obedient (Gruden, Allen, McLovin).

— Harrison Weinhold (@RadioHarrison) July 16, 2020

We can trace this back to the catfish no one looked into because they were all feeding "her" scoops (JLC), RG3’s **** pics, the cheerleader scandal, all the way up to today when almost every real story broken by media is a leak made available through horse-trading.

— Harrison Weinhold (@RadioHarrison) July 16, 2020

An ongoing joke in Washington has been "Bruce Allen must have something on Dan Snyder…"

Yeah, that wassn’t a joke. And I guess we’ll know the details tomorrow.

— Harrison Weinhold (@RadioHarrison) July 16, 2020

4. go to the team a couple days before you publish, tell them what you know, get a reaction
5. team goes in full crisis management mode – #### CHANGE THE NAME. #### FIRE THOSE DUDES. #### ####
6. Story drops.
7. "yeah we ####ed up, we’re changing stuff now – see? the name?"

— Harrison Weinhold (@RadioHarrison) July 16, 2020

Let’s all live in reality here. They’re handling this no better than they handle a bad player signing or a bad leak. It’s obvious CYA (cover your ###) stuff that won’t work. This is sex scandal stuff and possible Rooney rule violations (again, only Bruce could know that). wake up

— Harrison Weinhold (@RadioHarrison) July 16, 2020

what’s to understand? the team made multiple women sign NDA’s and paid them off after he sexually harassed or assaulted them. This isn’t news if you’ve been remotely paying attention to the team. Its the entire front office culture there and has been for over a decade.

— Harrison Weinhold (@RadioHarrison) July 16, 2020

Yall really think its a coincidence that Bruce Allen got fired and 6-7 months later this story breaks? His lawyers probably told him he needed to get out in front of this, regardless of his NDA. He won’t be a named source, but no one else would have had this level of information.

If everything I’m hearing about this article is true, It would not surprise me if by this time next season, Washington will have a new owner of it’s professional football franchise. https://t.co/Xj8mNcAy2y

Rumors of sex parties maybe including pimping out the cheerleaders, booze and drug abuse, racist language, etc.  Buck stops with Danny boy.
Man. This was my grandfather’s team (half my fam is east coast, including Maryland & D.C.

He always disliked the team name,  but he’d be turning in his grave if this stuff is true.

I’m starting to get the impression that Dan Snyder isn’t a very nice person. 🤔

My god.

:jawdrop:

ordinarily I’d say it’s all rumor until the actual news drops,  but reports are that all of the minority owners are trying to sell their shares.

that....that’s not normal.

I don't really understand the "catfish" thing.  But am I reading it right that Jason La Confora was pretending to be a chick and getting inside info under that pretense?  The same JLC that said what was going to come out was "sickening?"

No, someone else was catfishing RG3, La Canfora, and some other team officials and the catfish got a ton of pics and confidential information about the team

Wow

Read that tweet thread.  Jay jealous cause Kapri Bibbs was sleeping with Jay's mistress, benches Bibbs, Bibb's backup misses block that gets Alex Smith killed.  OOOOOOOOF.

After release of the actual story, I guess Harrison Weinhold, whoever he is, is the tool he appears to be.

And, as a Cowboys fan, I admit to taking a bit of pleasure in the fact that this team is known as the Washington football team......on the other hand, I'm also a bit sad from a nostalgic standpoint.  This was a once proud franchise.  The '91 team is an all-time great team in NFL history.

So much material!

I also noticed in their statement that someone finally got them to mention sponsors last in their list of constituents instead of first

"...... include player, alumni, fan, community, and sponsor input,'

This is Snyder just trolling, right? Picking the most generic name out there. I think I like it more than any of the other names brought up.

Don't look for that name any time soon.

“What happened was we found the realization that this is about a 16- to 18-month process,” Rivera said. “This can’t happen instantly. So we’ve really got to do our homework, we’ve got to be very thorough with what we’re doing going forward. Because we want to get it right. We want this new name, this new nickname to be able to stand the test of time, stand for 100 years.

“We’re going to be real busy with that. We’ve hired a firm that wants to be very diligent with their work, they want to be inclusive with their work. We’re going to do this right.”

One thing is almost assured. The suits are gonna bungle this. Leave it to popular sentiment like the Seattle Kraken did and you'll have something much cooler than any marketing firm could come up with.

Well, at least it's not just Snyder and Rivera sitting around brainstorming and handling it, as he earlier portrayed. Snyder just brought over a marketing guy he's worked with before.

I mean...

Kraken is kinda weird

I know people like it but it's a little hard for me to see why

Popular sentiment for the Skins new name looks to be right though:

Redwolves or even Red Tails would be cool

Kraken is kinda weird
Kraken is very murky, grey, and mythical. Just like Seattle. I can see ole Nessie wrapped around the Space Needle. What an absurdity! They got the uni colors spot on, too.

Red Wolves and Red Tails are by far and away the best. Red Wolves is my pick. Sometimes when it's smacking you in the face, you heed it.

Those are my two favorites, also, but how are they going to spend 18 months and lots of $$$ and then go with a name that won a poll in July 2020?

Yeah Redwolves is mine too

Kraken is fine I guess--just felt like it could have been better

I can see where people might want better than Kraken. Perhaps it's the process I'm enamored with; that of consulting the public who will be doling out the money for seats and unis what they'd like their new team to be called. And Kraken is nicely ominous and lives in very cold water, potentially frozen like ice.

Kind of a puff piece, but a cool one.
