The Return of the Desert Island Jukebox Draft - Drop in a quarter (3 Viewers)

Actually, the jukebox really works when the sampled stuff was available as the sound recording from which it was sampled. Damn Spotify and their re-recorded stuff for modern sensibility. The seventies trip was what made the composition great!

The world moves on a woman's hips
The world moves and it swivels and bops
The world moves on a woman's hips
The world moves and it bounces and hops
A world of light...she's gonna open our eyes up
A world of light...she's gonna open our eyes up
She's gonna hold/it move/it hold it/move it hold/it move it hold/
it move it
A world of light...she's gonna open our eyes up

Tulip or turnip, rosebud or rhubarb
Filet or plain beef stew
Tell me, tell me, tell me, dream face
What am I to you?

Diamond or doorknob, sapphire or sawdust
Champagne or just home brew
Tell me, tell me, tell me, dream face
What am I to you?

Do I get the booby prize
Or will I be the hero?
Am I heading for blue skies
Or is my ceiling zero?

Tulip or turnip, moonbeam or mud pie
Bankroll or IOU
Tell me, tell me, tell me, dream face
What am I to you?

Doorknob.

This thread is hard to catch up on with all the lyrics.

I liked what I liked but it was hard enough scrolling without clicking.

It's the little things you do together,
Do together,
Do together,
That make perfect relationships.
The hobbies you pursue together,
Savings you accrue together,
Looks you misconstrue together,
That make marriage a joy.

It's the little things you share together,
Swear together,
Wear together,
That make perfect relationships.
The concerts you enjoy together,
Neighbors you annoy together,
Children you destroy together,
That keep marriage intact.

It's not so hard to be married
When two manoeuver as one.
It's not so hard to be married,
And, Jesus Christ, is it fun!

It's sharing little winks together,
Drinks together,
Kinks together,
That make marriage a joy.
The bargains that you shop together,
Cigarettes you stop together,
Clothing that you swap together,
That make perfect relationships.
Uh-huh...
M-hm...

It's not talk of God and the decade ahead that
Allows you to get through the worst.
It's "I do" and "you don't" and "nobody said that"
And "who brought the subject up first?"
It's the little things,
The little things, the little things, the little things.

The little ways you try together,
Cry together,
Lie together,
That make perfect relationships.
Becoming a cliche together,
Growing old and grey together,
Withering away together,
That make marriage a joy.

It's not so hard to be married,
It's much the simplest of crimes.
It's not so hard to be married--
I've done it three or four times.

It's the people that you hate together,
Bait together,
Date together,
That make marriage a joy.
It's things like using force together,
Shouting till you're hoarse together,
Getting a divorce together,
That make perfect relationships.
Uh-huh...
Kiss-kiss...
M-hm...

Please pick one of these triplets of songs

Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin' Beats
The Crusaders - The Well's Gone Dry
Billy Squier - The Big Beat

OR these three:

Notorious B.I.G. with Puff Daddy and Ma$e - Mo Money Mo Problems
Diana Ross - I'm Coming Out

I vote for the second group

I was having a tough time with it. If there's Mo Money Mo Problems, there's no Chemical Brothers. If there's Mo Money, there's Diana and no Billy.  1974 is probably a wash, all things considered. If no Chemical Brothers and Billy, then no Dizzee. Still probably Group B should have reigned.

Looks like part of the jury has weighed in and we're doomed to a mistrial on my end.

I was just looking at the spreadsheet...how many of us actually finished 50 rounds?    Not so many.

ETA:

Well, well, well,
Just because you think you're so pretty,
And just because your momma thinks you're hot,
Well, just because you think you've got something
That no other girl has got,
You've caused me to spend all my money.
You laughed and called me old Santa Claus.
Well, I'm telling you,
Baby, I'm through with you.
Because, well well, just because.

50.ee - Land of Hope and Dreams - Bruce Springsteen (2012) Free Play

Springsteen only released three studio albums in the 2010s but he stayed busy.  He toured, wrote a book, did a show and emptied the vaults of more unreleased recordings and a ton of live concert tapes.  After all these rounds, I'm going to play it straight and choose something actually from the decade.

This is one of Springsteen's most ambitious songs.  He throws everything but the kitchen sink at it and everything but the programmed beat works.  And you know I love train songs.

I'm not going to include lyrics for this one because they look kind of ridiculous in print--the build up to the sax solo has to be felt.  This was Clarence Clemons' last recording, his part from earlier live show was added to the studio version posthumously.

When we played tag in grade school
You wanted to be It.
But chasing boys was just a fad
You crossed your heart you'd quit.

When we grew up you traded
Your promise for my ring
Now just like back to grade school
You're doing the same old thing!

Stop, the love you save may be your own!
Darling, take it slow
Or some day you'll be all alone.
You'd better stop, the love you save may be your own!
Darling, look both ways before you cross me
You're headed for the danger zone.

Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger

My face, you'll never see no more

But there is one promise that is given

I'll meet you on God's golden shore

(He'll meet you on God's golden shore)

Just realized I traded my 2002 pick for a 2001 mulligan. wtf man
Start over!!!

One of these days
When my feet are on the ground
I'm gonna look around and see

See what's right, see what's there
And breathe fresh air, ever after

One of these days
When a job just takes too long
I'm gonna sing my song and see

See what's right, see what's there
And breathe fresh air, ever after

It's there, it's round
It's to be found
By you, by me

Pepper - Stormtrooper

2002

Still sending The Roots cut back. But I will take a 2002 song instead of the 2001 song I took because :nerd:

Saw these guys open up for Slightly Stoopid way back when in Boulder and the lead singer had a wedding ring on and hit on my wife's cousin after they were done w their set. Cool story...or not. But this song has Bargain Music's Josh Fischel (R.I.P.) and I am pretty sure I played it at a few gatherings back en el dia.
