Joe Biden and race (1 Viewer)

The feigned outrage over racism is pretty hilarious.
The cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy of the left is not lost on anyone. Dems have become the party that decided the best way to fight the evil, white, oppressive patriarchy was to rig their own convention against Bernie and appoint an old white man with a political history so racist he tried to keep schools segregated.

That video deals with just his racist tendencies, we have not even scratched the surface with corruption in the Ukraine and China of all countries.

Its shameful.

We care about these sorts of things now?  Cool....better late than never I guess.  Let's investigate!

Lawsuits are ALWAYS dismissed with prejudice when there is a settlement. Because if you could get sued again for the same conduct, you wouldn’t settle. And an agreed injunction is an actual remedy against you. Also, they didn’t just agree to follow the law. They had to take all sorts of remedial actions - implement training and education programs, personally familiarize themselves with the Fair Housing requirements, implement affirmative compliance programs, take out advertising targeted at minority populations, including dedicating a percentage of their advertising budget to placing housing ads in publications with minority readership, report quarterly on their housing statistics and minority applicants, and on and on. As part of the settlement, they were required to expend both time and money to implement a wide range of remedial measures designed to eradicate discriminatory housing practices. You are free to disregard all of this for sure (as I would certainly expect you to), but it is objectively responsive to your request.
But as it stands in your view....

THIS is the best example of President Trump being a racist that you can present?

A lawsuit from the '70s that was dismissed?

Seriously?

A lawsuit brought by the Justice Department for unlawful housing discrimination practices in which Trump and the Trump org agreed to take all sorts of expensive and time consuming remedial actions to address and mitigate the discrimination is a profoundly and objectively sound example. Is it the “best” example?  I’m sure others might think that there is a bunch of other stuff that are even better examples, but this one certainly fits the bill and is responsive to your inquiry.

And you keep getting hung up on the “dismissed” part. A more accurate statement is that it was “settled” and that injunctive relief and other required measures were required as part of the settlement. The dismissal was simply a function of the settlement.

The final judgement on the court document does not say "settled"...you do.
The final judgement on the court document say "dismissed with prejudice".

Take it anyway you want but if THIS single case from 1973 (47 years ago), is your case on "President Trump being a racist".....it's pretty pathetic.

Shall we move on?

I feel like bigbottom was pretty clear.  This is one incident in a pile of incidents that can be pointed to.  Is there any fruit to be harvested from going through every single one until we find the one that's going to meet the predetermined opinion that none of them are going to meet the predetermined opinion?  Feels like this is caught in a poorly designed glitch.

It’s not my case. I’m not even making a case. You asked for an example and I gave you one. I’ll leave it to others to provide additional examples.  I unfortunately don’t have the time to compile a list.

And the case was dismissed by virtue of the parties reaching a settlement on the express settlement terms that are set forth in the Court order. Not that it matters, but I have drafted easily 500+ dismissals to be entered by a court in connection with the settlement of a lawsuit, so I have a pretty decent grasp on the procedure.

What law school did you attend and graduate from?
Funny you should ask....

I went to law school on a full academic scholarship, the only one in my class who had a full academic scholarship. I went back to class and, in fact, ended up in the top half of my class. I was the "Outstanding Student" in the Political Science department at the end of the year and I graduated with three degrees from undergraduate school with 165 credits. I only needed 123 credits.

oh wait....that was Joe Biden.

oh wait....NO IT WASN'T!!!      :lmao:

I think this is a better point, not sure why you don't stick with it. It's also Trump's MO to use the courts to avoid, delay, create leverage. He has the means to do it, one of the few, who can constantly wrestle with the federal government. Such people do exist though.

Just IMO but I'm not sure it's right to call Trump a "racist" in the sense that even in his private modes I'd bet he believes in things like equality of the races and that kind of thing. He may be racist in the sense that any random 75+ yo guy yammering in a random Jamaica/Queens bar is racist, or in the way his niece has said that he has used racist epithets. I just think there are a lot of older white guys who may come from that time and place all around who might also treat people of other races very decently in person. It's complex. The biggest problem has been his open evocation of race as a political tool, from the Central Park 5, to his summer 2015 statement on Mexican and Hispanic immigrants, to what is going on with the fearmongering on urban violence and suburban public housing. It's the instillation of race into our politics which is a huge problem in the way we had it here in Louisiana with guys like Earl Long and Ellington and Duke. It's pernicious.

Really?

"Something I have learned: If you are a Republican nominee for President – or President – you will be accused of being a racist," - Lindsey Graham

In 2012 nominee Mitt Romney, who bent over backward to make himself more likable to Democrats and the press alike, was accused of "stoking the racial politics of yesteryear.

McCain was attacked in the 2008 presidential campaign as being a grumpy, get-off-my-lawn racist running against former President Obama.

John Lewis compared John McCain’s campaign to being like that of George Wallace. It comes with the territory unfortunately.

CNN and MSNBC said the word "racist" more than 1,100 times from Sunday to Tuesday, according to a tally conducted by Grabien Media, an online media production and news prep service.

It has been used so much by the Left that the word "racist" has lost all meaning.

Joe Biden is a racist because he worked with racists in the 1970s.

Donald Trump is not a racist  because he settled a discrimination case in the 1970s.

What a world.

Fwiw I think you have two different issues here:

  • What came before - yeah actually I agree, the word, the idea and the term, like other terms from left and right, to describe the opposition have been inappropriately used over time, and killed their effect for many people. Words like anarchist, socialist, communist also get bandied around today.
  • However as to the underline, which I take it has been under Trump, frankly the word still has meaning. It hasn't disappeared as an idea, concept or practical sociological and political thing just because people have abused the word in the past. More like it I'd say Trump has taken advantage of the neutering or anesthetizing to great effect.
