Week 3: Las Vegas Raiders at New England Patriots ***Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Best run Sony has had in sometime...JJ looking good and Harris on the horizon...lighting a little fire under his butt.

The pass to Burkhead for a first down there is why they keep using Michel. After the play fake, Sony squared up a defender that would have crushed Newton.

2nd and 15, gets Burkhead wide open down the right sideline, gets the first near the 15.

1st and 10 out of the I on the 15, strong toss right to Taylor for 6.

2nd and 4 from the 9, handoff to Burkhead for the 1st.

Raiders having big trouble stoppnig backs on both run and pass.

Burkhead with a tumble into the EZ, TD Pats.

Looking tough for the Raiders. Would love to see them rise to the occasion like they did with the Saints after being behind, but the D is just too leaky and they don't seem to have an answer for the way BB and Cam are using their backs.

Guys not being in position to make stops and lessen yardage gained. Frustrating, but Pats just looking like the better team.

NE takes a TO, their second, at 6:35 in the 3rd.

Edwards in the locker room questionable to come back with a r ankle.

1st and 10 on the Raiders on their 23. Catch to Jacobs out of the backfield to the left for 3.

2nd down, Jacobs out of the I left for 3.

3rd and 4, bad pass to Zay Jones that's incomplete, but Waller seemed to be open on a crossing route on the field. Disappointing.

Pats on 1st and 10, another solid toss screen to Burkhead for a solid gain of 6 behind a wall of blockers.

Cam under pressure on a safety blitz with a first down catch to Edelman.

1st and 10 on the 39, PAts with amazing blocking for Michel who rumbles inside the 15.

We are getting destroyed on the ground.

Waller with a total bagel so far. They are defending him well but he's been open. Time to let him and REnfrow loose, especially with all our WR injuries and ineffectiveness.

1st and 10 on the 25, single back set. Great toss downfield on a seam route to Moreau on a mismatch.

1st and 10 on the 49, Jacobs with 2 yards up the middle.

Carr with a toss to Ingold in the flat with a superb hurdle on the left sideline for the first down.

End of 3rd Q.

Don't see many guys wearing a # like 45 doing that...very athletic.

1st and 10 Raiders on Pats' 38.

Great toss up the middle to an uncovered Zay Jones who catches and runs for the 1st.

1st down from the 25, Carr audibles a the line, Jacobs pulled down by Butler for a loss of a yard or two.

2nd and 11, Jacobs in teh flat to the 21.

3rd and 6, having not converted today yet, Carr scrambles out of the pocket right for a first down.

The Pats actually wanted to kick a FG on 3rd and 11 but had to run a play unfortunately so they basically took a knee and kicked a FG late 3rd Q to extend it to a 13 point lead, interesting strategy, did anyone else notice that? 3rd down in the red zone almost and you don't try and toss one into the end zone with a Superstar QB?

Just saying...

Looked like Lawrence Guy didn't know if he should be in or out of the play.

1st and 10 on the 13, Jacobs with another tough run up the middle for 3.

2nd and 7, McCourty gets a great tip to prevent Waller from catching the pass in the back of the EZ.

3rd and 7.

Empty backfield with a pass to Richard that doesn't get the first. Ugh.

FG pulls Raiders to 10 with 11 remaining, 23-13 Pats.

That was a huge stop by the Pats and may be the deciding factor in this game.

23-10...11:45 to go deep inside NE territory

3rd down deep and they toss a 2 yd out and they need 7, the play had ZERO chance of ever being what they needed.

MOP disapproval right there, sorry.

Kicking the FG there is like relinquishing a loaded gun to your enemy and hoping and they don't turn it around and aim it at you...UGGGGHhHHHHHHHH

To be fair, I didn't see a lot of separation downfield on any other route. Will need to see a replay to confirm, but looked like Richard was not the first option there.

Yep -- Raiders needed a TD there. I am not confident there is enough game, or the Raiders have enough D, to prevent BB and Cam from playing ball control.
They really need a 3 and out right now...Cam has not been doing much running...would not be surprised to see something this series.

Big stick by coverage in ST by the Raiders.

1st and 10 on their 14, soft run up the middle for 2.

2nd an 8, Raiders get great pressure and force Cam to throw it. Holding on D, thought, 1st down.

Lawson...grrr......

1st and 10 on the 21, Cam passes to Byrd for a loss of 1.

2nd and 11, Cam hits Harry down the left for a 27 yard gain. Great route, horrid tackling to prevent YACs.

1st and 10 from the Pats 48, incomplete pass downfield with a batted ball high into the air, Harris couldn't get there in time for the chance for the INt.

Taylor for 2 on 1st down.

2nd and 8 on Raiders' 40. Great coverage downfield, Cam avoids some grasps and rips a huge run up the middle to the 16.

I just can't anymore.

Burkhead's elbow may have been down before ball crossed the plane.

Either way? Game over.

Frustrating for the Raiders to be in the game in the 4th with so many gaffes, but they did not deserve to win this today either way.
