We actually need to come up with a solution for using a team that doesn't play that week.

Seems like giving a team a shut out for a Team D is wrong. 

As of right now, I am going to make an executive decision that any player using a team that ends up not playing that weekend will get their opponent's average score for the season. In the case of New England D this week, you would get Denver's offense current season average rounded to the nearest whole number. 

I am open to other ideas, but wanted to get something out there before kickoff today.

Wouldn’t it count as if they didn’t pick at all? What if someone picked a team on bye? That’s what this ends up being, really.

What would stop someone from purposely starting a defensive team on a bye and getting zero points scored against?

This is a free contest so no big deal but I wouldn't give them the average but maybe give them 25% over their average?

Let them swap it to an afternoon/night game now if they want.  Otherwise they should just get a 0 for the week.
