Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill

Recommended Posts

If the consensus is to speed up extinction of the original channels, I'll cobble together some rule adjustments.

Elvis will not be pleased with you mugs.

Hey, raise your hand if you don't have teh COVID! My hand stays down. Think I caught it on Wednesday night, when I was inside a few stores/shops with groups of people (all masked) and then a

Job interview next week

Announcing Genrepalooza Radio early retirement buyouts

Early Retirement Eligibility:  All original channels that have been rolled five times.  As far as I can tell, these categories are currently excluded because they've been rolled less than five times

  • 2x Velvet, Vinyl, 60s
  • 3x  Globalization, 50s
  • 4x  Faction, Outlaw, Soulcycle, Prime

Adjusted dice rules:  Starting tonight, I'll roll three d1000 instead of four. Standard retirement rules (50 songs, >3 hr mix) rules will still apply to these.

Instead of the fourth d1000 roll, there will be an elimination roll consisting of all standard and early retirement candidates. The loser of this roll will be replaced.  So we'll be guaranteed of at least one category update every turn.

Ok I was wondering what happened to the 60s, I thought maybe I missed a secret Friday night coup to remove it from the airwaves.

We haven't retired the International Boogaloo channel? Damn. I think I have the perfect song, but I may have already used it, if that makes sense.

I think our proposal for retirement should be more radical, but my wheel is exceptionally squeaky today, so there's that to consider. I'm apparently a namby-pamby centrist in politics these days. Need my radical itch back.  I like the direction step in the new rules, though. Thanks, powers that be.

Per the spreadsheet, it came up for rounds 39/40 and 81/82 although Krista snuck a 79th round BeeGees pick in.

It's weird.  That BeeGees pick is nowhere to be found in the thread but round 79 was around the same time as the Holly Bonus Friday.

I hope @Buffaloes is doing OK.  He was really active in the pages I doublechecked but his last board activity is a Shark Pool post on Jan 3.

I hope so, too. I think, if previous SP years are any indication, Buffaloes goes as the tide ebbs and flows, so I wouldn't necessarily worry, I'd just keep an eye out and the light on.

Round 188:

Second Wave

Has My Fire Really Gone Out? -- Paul Weller

Another guy who revitalized himself in the '90s. His second solo album, 1992's Wild Wood, is one of my favorites of the decade. The songs are uniformly excellent and the sound blends First Wave, soul and classic rock seamlessly. This is one of my favorite tracks from it.
