Not kidding that I considered that for tonight, too. When are we getting the drunken liveblog of Give My Regards to Broad Street?
I am totally getting Stonehenge (the song) vibes from the opening narration.190.8 or 12 - Rick Wakeman - The Battle (I Prog)
Teenage Eephus was a huge Rick Wakeman fan. Part of it was that synths were new and cool. Some was because that was what my friends were listening him too. But it also coincided with my first pair of headphones: some big brown Koss cans that looked huge on my still developing head.
The stereo effects in Prog were unlike anything I'd ever heard before and started me down a lifetime of private listening. I got some new headphones today and listened to a bunch of of Wakeman. The records seem pompous today with their literary pretensions and overblown orchestral and choral arrangements . But hearing a synth sound oscillate between my left and right ears still brings a smile to my face.
It's over ten minutes but that's padded by narration.
It’s turning into a discussion reminiscent of the famous “I’ve seen a million faces, and I’ve ROCKED them all” debate.I'm that my stupid link has led to a two-page discussion of Johnny Cougar lyrics.
I was going to try to watch a movie (80s and KP - "The Assistant"), but it's hard to break away from this.
I was so bummed when Wawa (the most prominent convenience store chain in the Philly area) stopped offering chili as a topping for their hot dogs. Also now I really want a chili dog. Or at least some chili cheese fries.
That sucksAlso now I really want a chili dog. Or at least some chili cheese fries.
And the prog. Don't forget the prog. All of your late night posting and the current Cougar talk has pushed today into the #2 spot for most popular days for this thread.
It's David Hemmings reading Jules Verne.I am totally getting Stonehenge (the song) vibes from the opening narration.
Every prog post probably counted for 10And the prog. Don't forget the prog.
The next narrations are even more ... more. It's David Hemmings reading Jules Verne.
A little narration goes a long way and Wakeman's album has much more than a little narration.
I like Fritos chili cheese chips. Also now I really want a chili dog. Or at least some chili cheese fries.
C'mon guys, we can do it! We're #1! We're #1! We're #1!All of your late night posting and the current Cougar talk has pushed today into the #2 spot for most popular days for this thread.
Ohhhh, haven't had those in eons, but they are really good. My dinner tonight was a fake-meat Italian sausage on a slice of rye bread. The opposite of sucking on a chili dog. :(I like Fritos chili cheese chips.
How was the falsage sandwich?Ohhhh, haven't had those in eons, but they are really good. My dinner tonight was a fake-meat Italian sausage on a slice of rye bread. The opposite of sucking on a chili dog. :(
We're pretty sure they go by GMT to define their "days," so their "Feb. 13" may already be over.C'mon guys, we can do it! We're #1! We're #1! We're #1!
I really like this. I really should be more familiar with the works of the various Mann bands than I am.Round 189
I Love Prog
This will cut the average length down. More of bluesy prog so almost like a double dip.
Manfred Mann's Earth Band-Black and Blue
Not good at all. This was the "Lifelight" brand that was subbed in for "Beyond Meat" without my authorization. Do not recommend. The Beyond Meat ones are great, though. Spicy. How was the falsage sandwich?
Been awhile but those were my go to in HS. Especially with some Fritos Bean Dip.I like Fritos chili cheese chips.
Then let's make 2/14/2021 the new #1We're pretty sure they go by GMT to define their "days," so their "Feb. 13" may already be over.
How many Mann bands are there?I really like this. I really should be more familiar of the works of the various Mann bands than I am.
I'll have to try the Beyond Meat ones. My oldest nephew is a pescatarian, and I try out things and report to him if I like them or not. He decided at 8 years old after watching some documentary on farm animals that he would no longer eat meats. He didn't want to eat fish/seafood either, but my sister kinda made him. He is 22 now, and is still a pescatarian. Not good at all. This was the "Lifelight" brand that was subbed in for "Beyond Meat" without my authorization. Do not recommend. We would have smelly burp contests in HS. My go to was CC Fritos + Cool Ranch Doritos + Dr.Pepper + a pickle.Been awhile but those were my go to in HS. Especially with some Fritos Bean Dip.
Manfred Mann 1962-69. That was the name of the band, it wasn't just him. British Invasion. How many Mann bands are there?
I get in the mood for them every now and then. They leave an aftertaste, but about twice a year I'll get a bag and kill it. I'm a saltaholic. I've never really had a sweet tooth, but occasionally I'll be in the mood for something deserty, but I love salty things.Been awhile but those were my go to in HS. Especially with some Fritos Bean Dip.

Good for him. I wish I could do the sameI'll have to try the Beyond Meat ones. My oldest nephew is a pescatarian, and I try out things and report to him if I like them or not. That was my reaction to Karma's post about the burps and Pip's post about all the Mann bands.
Beyond Meat bratwurst and Italian sausage are great. Don’t recommend the “beef” crumbles, which I tried to use in tacos but had a bad consistency.I'll have to try the Beyond Meat ones. He is the 1.01 in the next kitsch draftIt's really all the Johnny Cougar that's done it, though. Blech.
I don't know, but if you think it fits better in a different one move it on over.Rub You the Right Way by Johnny Gill just came up on Soultown. This song is from 1990? Anyone know is this was supposed to be a different playlist?
And Mellencamp. And prog. The past three pages have given me nausea :X
You guys and your Fritos, convenience store chili, ranch, belching and what have you.
Shame. You all ought to feel shame.
It just sticks out in the Soultown because it is 20 years later than anything else I have heard so far, but I will hear the whole thing out first. Maybe my shuffle is just hitting earlier songs first. I love the Gill song.I don't know, but if you think it fits better in a different one move it on over.
The Roots song that Mr. rock put on there sounds a bit misplaced too.Rub You the Right Way by Johnny Gill just came up on Soultown. This song is from 1990? Anyone know is this was supposed to be a different playlist?
I’m watching now and disappointed so far.Oh I do want to watch that at some point. My wife and I planned on all our hanging out and movies early today. She has a Zoom cocktail thing with her sister in Chicago and mom in Cancun tonight so it's music, boxing, beverages and the message board for me tonight.
This legit scares me because the Beatles got so successful that they could literally do anything. If you told me there was a Ringo 1 man show of Porgy and Bess that played Broadway in 1985, I would believe it.Oh, I have a Beatles “On Broadway” teed up.
NV put it there, probably because there's no New Jack Swing channel.Rub You the Right Way by Johnny Gill just came up on Soultown. This song is from 1990? Anyone know is this was supposed to be a different playlist?
Haven't heard that yet. Maybe if people tomorrow draft some more contemporary soul, it would smooth it out?The Roots song that Mr. rock put on there sounds a bit misplaced too.
Yeah, all the modern R&B Black leaning playlists somehow all get smerged into 1,NV put it there, probably because there's no New Jack Swing channel.
Because no one was drafting The Heat or Shade 45. Post-2000 hip-hop isn't really our thing, I guess.Yeah, all the modern R&B Black leaning playlists somehow all get smerged into 1,
