   Looking at my draft, I seem to already taken a song from most of the Canadian artists on my list. I guess WI is close enough to the border that I am a closet Candian music fan.  Love Neil, but don't want to dig through and figure out what hasn't been taken, so I will throw in one that I see @Raging weasel already took one from...

OH CANADA

213.XX:  METRIC - SICK MUSE

Link
I was going to take them here too but a different song.

Round 213

Oh Canada

I'm going to pass on the rock trio's and other popular choices and go with a song by a band I don't think has been taken in any draft I've been in.

Our Lady Peace-Clumsy
OLP is a band I absolutely loved at their peak, have seen live a bunch of times, own a ton of their CD's... but a lot of their stuff hasn't aged well IMO. I still like Clumsy, 4 AM and a few others but they seem very much like a band of their time, in my opinion.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEORGE HARRISON!!!  🍰

George would have turned 78 today.  My selections today will be in George's honor.

213.k4  Randy Bachman - You Like Me Too Much  (Oh Canada)

Bachman put out a full record of George Harrison covers entitled "By George By Bachman."  Some of them work; a lot of them don't.  This one and "Don't Bother Me" are the best, in my opinion.  I like the guitar work here.

Randy and his son Tal (whose one and only hit has been chosen in this very draft) have been hosting a new show on the Beatles Channel, and I think it surprisingly good.  They drill deeply into the musical elements of the songs - chord changes, etc.  I heard a show they did that was just focused on the middle eights.  Good stuff.

Round 213.xx

Category: Oh Canada

Song: Bishy-Bishy!

Band: The Smugglers

Away from the bright lights of our Toronto-loving contingent comes this band from the Pacific Northwest. Straight out of Vancouver, B.C., here's The Smugglers!

I've seen these guys live. Recordings don't do their brand of suit-wearing, nattily-coiffed punk rock any justice. They're as nonsensical and as bouncy as the title sounds, too, with live stage choreography and everything. There will generally be a guitar soloing during the pauses/breakdowns in most of their songs from this five-piece, serving a rhythm function also. Cool stuff. Glad they have this on Spotify. They used to very much not.

Well it's pathetic...yeah yeah yeah
Well it's disgusting...woah woah woah
Well it's just for you and me...

Others: Especially You, Rock and Roll Was Never This Fun

Blast from the past. Haven’t thought of that band in awhile.
I saw them at a festival years back, even then and even up here they were... quite low on the bill. I like 'em though.

Killer Bees is the other song of theirs that I'll throw on from time to time.
Best factoid on their Wikipedia page

On March 28, 2009, the Stills were awarded two Juno Awards (Canada's music awards) for their album Oceans Will Rise, in the categories of Best New Group and Best Alternative Album
Oceans Will Rise was their third and final album.  It came out five years after Logic Will Break Your Heart

214.k4  The Beatles - Do You Want To Know A Secret?  (60s on 6)

As part of my continuing tribute today to George Harrison, I'm selecting the first song with a George vocal to reach the top 10, peaking at #2.  This is famously the song that John said they gave to George because "it only had three notes," since George hadn't developed his singing ability so much at the time.  I think George does a lovely job with it, sounding sly and even a little sexy.

People really over-analyze these things, huh?
It took me no less than being in and out of the thread for five hours to pick a song today that I felt was appropriate. I'd asked for an extension of Shade/Fly/Heat, so I felt responsible to pick a song. But I've exhausted my Shade picks here and in other places, so I figured I'd pick someone I hadn't before but that I liked. But then the I song I had then chosen for it is just objectionable to me in spirit, so I couldn't. Then there's "Do I pick a cover for Stevie given all the attendant issues?" Then there's a few bands from Canada, but they've been chosen...

So I had a lot to think about. Lots on the plate. I'm happy I just said "screw it," and picked what tickled my ear and soul.

There are always bonus picks if you decide you blew it.

214.NV - Said the Whale - B.C. Orienteering - Canada

You're taken by the woods even though you're aware
Of the slippery cliffs and the big black bears
And the salal snares, taller than yourself
Ferns growing as thick as the trees, yeah
You're looking for a flag at the top of the hill
Its a race against the light

One false step could mean staying the night, yeah
That's why you should never travel alone
No, you should never
You should never travel alone
And you know that
'Cause just one false step and you might not make it home
