Job interview next week

I have my smaller dog beside me here, like I do basically every night. She is just the best. Monday was the 1 year anniversary of the day we got her ("gotcha day") and the day we dubbed her birthday,

Most of my opinion is him hating on the Black Keys, didn't want his kids in the same school with Auerbach, mostly because he felt they ripped him off.   He is a great player, but it's not like his albums weren't based on sound already established or cover songs.

Full disclosure - I am not 100% on any of that.

That is indeed a little petty. I'm also not 100% aware of Jack White and his personality. He came along when my love of getting to know the artist behind the talent had waned to the nth degree. For me, it was a mixture of a whole lot of things to where I got where I wasn't really interested in what made them tick. There wasn't anything to be gleaned from it but ambition and drive and other platitudes, so I stopped my curiosity with all that unless I happened to be reading something in a store. Come to think of it, my only reading about White came in Connecticut CVS one night where they tackled other peoples' main troubles with him, IIRC. And he acquitted himself well. He was forthcoming and made reasoned arguments. But that's about all I know...

So I'm with you about the percentage of certainty. All I know is what Jack has done, and it's always been pretty darn cool (down to his start as a furniture restorer) if a little fussy at times. I have no great defense of him, really. He could be a Grade A jerk and I wouldn't know.

I will be honest - I had to verify tracks, I just thought I remembered that he drummed on at least 1/2 the tracks for that album.

Yeah, that you remembered that at all is pretty impressive.

Yeah, but does he make baseball bats? That's the rub here. Jack makes Wonderboys!

Nah, I think the Jack doosh thing is overblown. His opinions aren't really that controversial, to the best of my understanding. He loves analog and is a priss about it. So am I, to a degree. Doesn't mind living in a foreign country (can you blame him at this sort of low point?). That he punched the guy from the Von Bondies is something to question, but I have no idea about the circumstances of that. I'll cut him some slack. Always have.

Jack loves baseball so he can't be all bad.

I didn't know he played with them either. I know he was part of Tenacious D, did some shows with McCartney and I think did at least 1 album and tour with Queens of the Stone Age.

In Detroit I never heard any bad things about White as he was loved here. Always thought it was cool that he collected vintage jukeboxes.

Why the Dave Grohl hate?   He's 1/10th the doosh Jack is.  ;)

I prefer Jack but I’ll give Dave some love also:

When I looked at his wiki page to verify the track - his collaborations are far more interesting than I thought.  I knew of NIN, QotSA,, Tenacious D, and the metal album Probot, but he's done some odd cameos.

I am probably over exaggerating about White too.  I was just as big of Black Keys fan as I was of the Stripes and mostly just remember him being a #### about them (who seem to be cool guys from interviews, etc.).   Grohl always seems to be cool, laid back, and not take himself too seriously.  Plus I am a drum guy, so I would for sure be in the Dave camp over Jack as people, but probably more likely to put on any of Jack's albums on over Dave's.

Daryl's House has a really nice version of them singing this live. It's too bad he didn't have more songs that he was the lead on in the albums that would follow. I've always liked his songs. He played at the Merlefest a few years ago, and he was good. I remember it rained really hard during his set.

Yes, I have seen that. I think it was just a case of him not writing as many songs as Hall did -- and most of the ones they wrote together, Hall sang, or they shared the vocals (e.g. She's Gone).

I had an Oates song (Alone Too Long) in my 1975 countdown.

228.8 or 12 - The Kills - Future Starts Slow (Jack & Dave Show)

Just in case it wasn't clear that this channel covers one degree of separation from Grohl and White.  The Kills' Alison Mossheart was part of The Dead Weather with White.

226 - Stones - Undercover (of the Night)

I think a case can be made that this was their last truly great song. I'd consider this for my Stones top 20. I don't think I'd consider anything after it.

No, because I had a long day at work and I don't think I would do very well in that metric. However, I did draft 2 of the Joni songs. 😆

The rogue one without The has been corrected.

Spotify has them under Pretenders. Wikipedia adds the "The".

Their album covers mostly go with the article except for Get Close and their Greatest Hits.

Spotify also has separate sections for "Allman Brothers Band" and "The Allman Brothers Band," so they're not any more trustworthy than Wikipedia.

DAVE AND JACK

227(It’s the place to be).YM - I’m a Marionette - Ghost (AKA Ghost B.C.)

Oh you know, just an ABBA cover by a Catholic Robe wearing Swedish metal band with Dave Grohl playing drums with the band members who call themselves Nameless Ghouls (they all wear masks). Right in my wheelhouse.

MORE DAVE THAN JACK

228.YM - New Fang - Them Crooked Vultures

Dave joins up with some no names Josh Homme (QotSA) and John Paul Jones (LZ) for this 2009 project. Should open up a few one degree of separation selections.

After tomorrow there will be just 9 original categories left.

Velvet has fewer songs than 17 new categories. Globalization has fewer songs than 18 new categories. 😆

So it looks like you added the entire deluxe edition of the October album instead of just the title track.

Whoops. I'll change that.

Well, 1 AM, seems as good a time as any for a confessional.

I like the Foo Fighters, I think they stand beside The Killers for best rock singles band of this era. And I've seen The Killers live many times, so Foo Fighters (thanks to the death of David Bowie and others) might be my #1 need to see live before I (or more likely, they) die band. I'm in so deep, I will rep a 2020 song from them

228.NV - Shame, Shame - Foo Fighters - Dave, Jack, etc...

Foo Fighters are a lot of fun in concert. Seen them a bunch of times. Sigh, I miss concerts.

I quoted and pasted words in the politics forum today. We shall see tomorrow if I've been permabanned.

STOPSTOPSTOPSTOP.

I saw @Mrs. Rannous in there, too.  FFS guys it’s not worth it or anything.  If you’re going in blind as it seems you might be, you’re not understanding those who are there JUST TO TROLL.  They’re here and amongst us.

Arguing politics with strangers is one of the most futile activities out there.

Usually is and made worse when the loudest majority there aren’t looking for honest discussion but just to be obnoxious and bait people into reactions.

I don't know about you but I feel sad about all those channels going away at once.

I suppose it’s an appropriate end to Black History Month - albeit slightly late.
