1976 Ian Hunter (mott the hoo), formed a supergroup lineup for the ages (ft. Queen on backup vocals, Jaco widda jazzy "horn-line" bass groovin' on a rock album. See the title track for the best of that. Aynsley Dunbar keeping the beat, and saxy David Sanborn)

Genre - could be lighters up or featuring sumn or even in my room, but using it for Saxy Time.

2nd pick - 300+++ to go

Round 311 give or take

Ian Hunter - You Nearly Did Me In

also, i think title tracks would make a good station since this draft is infinite.

@Raging weasel or whoever, please add these picks to the Guitar Hero playlist:

That's Entertainment by Silkworm

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne

The Needle and the Spoon by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Marquee Moon by Television

Get Me by Dinosaur Jr.

The Crippled Jazzer by Marnie Stern

Willie the Pimp by Frank Zappa

Savages by Husbands

Alright, I'm going double-sax.

I can't take my favorite version of this song, by my friend Nora O'Connor.  Nora is one of the most exquisite singers to come out of Chicago and has collaborated with Jeff Tweedy, Neko Case/The New Pornographers, The Decemberists, and many many others, including winning a Grammy for Mavis Staples' You Are Not Alone.  I first met her in conjunction with my friend (and her BFF) Thomas Dunning's labor-of-love project, I Wanna Be Kate, which was an album of cover versions of Kate Bush songs.  This is Nora's version of the following song from that record, and her live version from the record release party in 1998 (fun fact - I met the first Mr. krista at this show).

But none of those are on Spotify, so I'm going with the original for the playlist.

314.k4  Kate Bush - The Saxophone Song  (that category)

I wish The Ego And The Dove were rolled again tonight. I've had a song in my head so badly the whole night and nowhere really to share it. It's not a Neil-inspired one, but it's still cool. It just wouldn't have fit the mix yesterday, so it sort of sat. I'll pick it next time when there are some others selected, but right now the mix has got a real seventies mellow-ish vibe to it. Very acoustic, really. This one is a bit of a hard charger.

I think you like sax more than you let on. Or else you really hate The Who, The Kinks, songs that are introspective and/or about masturbation, and bass players that aren't Paul McCartney or Willie Weeks. 😄
After everyone #####ed about the Willie Weeks one I decided not to take more bass (I think I did take James Jamerson there before that, too, or at least I meant to).

I don’t know much Who and feel the Kinks catalog has been plenty mined.

In My Room isn’t inspiring me as all the good masturbation songs are taken.

So here we are. ;)

:lmao: , but...

 I think I was in your corner on that one. Just silent. I can't even remember the debate or know who Willie Weeks is, but I had your back in a quiet way. I'll blame Eephus, as always.

Hey, what are tomorrow's categories, by the way. Our diceman cometh?

Finding out that "Broken Hands," my favorite Mudhoney song, cribs the last 2:38-3:00 of Cinnamon Girl's riffage and incorporates it as an intro to the song totally puts it in a different light. I still love it, but I think I love that riff even more as an outro. Mudhoney themselves put a nice original wah-wah solo as their endtro, but the homage lends itself to the sneaking suspicion I always had that Mudhoney might have been better rock critics and curators than original rock stars. Their cover of another [redacted] band's big hit was always my favorite in my late high school years. I had no idea it was a cover (I got it as a twelve-inch back in like '91) until I finally came across the original in my late twenties/early thirties.

Speaking of which, that redacted band will be great for the Guitar Hero section next time it's rolled.

It's Friday and 11:26 on the West Coast. I assume everyone from the East Coast is asleep and our West Coast friends are all a little advanced in years like me so there's not much poppin' off but I had to note the major riffage in the outros to both those songs.

Round too many

Genre - WhoKinky

The Kinks - National Health

Way oh way oh
Oh oh oh oh ah ah ah ah

Even Freud recommends it
Cos it relieves the strain
