Mission control coming after we've done several rounds of Bowie ain't right.

I drafted a song called Space Cadet a week too soon it seems.

369.8 or 12 - Public Service Broadcasting - Go!  (NASA)

PSB is a London trio who sample found dialog and sounds to accompany their musical tracks.  They're oddly popular in the UK where their albums charted and they could fill large venues before the pandemic.

Go! is the centerpiece of their 2015 concept album The Race for Space which traces the USA and USSR space programs.

This was cool.  Going to be a great playlist, I think.

PSA:  Riot Fest 3-day passes are already sold out, but you can still buy an “ultimate” package for $1600 per person that gives you air-conditioned restrooms and a concierge.  How punk!

The lesser known but more sophisticated riot.

Round 370

2,000 Light Years From Home- The Rolling Stones (NASA and E.T.)

I’m not exactly doing the @krista4 and @Pip's Invitation thing, but I’m also not not doing it.

:lmao:

I'm thinking over my Beatles-related selection for this category.  "Across the Universe" has been taken twice already, and stupid me also took one of the "Venus and Mars" versions as part of the combination with "Rock Show."  Paul's "Cosmically Conscious" isn't on Spotify.  Hmmmm.

I’m not really doing the same but I’ve obviously taken a lot of Stones songs because that’s what pops into my head often.

It’s been a fun draft and I’m proud to be in the record books (perhaps unbreakable) longest “draft” ever.

I mean, "Across the Universe" was actually sent by NASA into outer space.

I’ve maybe mentioned it before but I’ve told all my long time friends (who identify me as the Stones guy, among other things) that on my death bead I’ll admit the Beatles were better than the Stones - but I’m still walking the Earth...

Much as I'd love for that admission to happen, let's keep it this way instead.

Round 370:

A. Morning Zoo

High Horse -- Kacey Musgraves

The horse is metaphorical in this song, but I wanted to get it in somewhere.

B. Stonehenge

American Girls -- Triumph

While their profile was highest in the early '80s, they did good work in the '70s too.

I'm realizing I drafted "Louder in Outer Space" last night an hour or so before NASA was rolled.

I was going to see a Tom Petty tribute band fronted by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog last year but it was cancelled.

Isn’t there a Ringo album with him walking out of a space ship?

Yes, I considered something from Goodnight Vienna.  As I said in my write-up in the countdown:  "Most importantly, and I’m putting this in its own paragraph so no one will miss it, it features one of my favorite Ringo album covers, a play on The Day The Earth Stood Still, and THE BEST TV AD EVER CREATED (John on voiceover)."  But the songs aren't really about outer space; it was just the concept for the cover, for whatever reason.

WARNING WARNING WARNING!  It's e-Mk4's birthday and we're one bottle of champagne (both of us) and a few beers (him) in.*  Expect some drunken bonus picks any time tonight.

*Yes, he's in my COVID bubble as he’s lived with me the past couple of months.  Life is interesting.

Eephuses:  have you watched last week’s Top Chef yet?  I haven’t seen this week but we still need to cover the last one.

I’m posting while e-Mk4 cooks his own birthday dinner.  At least I did procure (via delivery) his bday dinner of soup dumplings and various accoutrements.

For a time, my favorite nineties alt band. This one reminds me of an old bartender named Jess with whom I was smitten. I think she was too, but I also liked Kathryn, Casarena, and I'm sure there were others. I was on Paxil and loopy as all hell for about a better portion of a year. WTF. Don't drink and SSRI.

I thought she'd be there holding daisies, she always waits for me
