I never watch Last Chance Kitchen. I find it annoying you have to go on their website to see it. Maybe that makes me old? Speaking of being old, I saw an internet website refer to people born between 80 and 85 as "geriatric millennials". Since I was born on the border of millennial and Gen Z, I always chose to identify as a millennial. However, I am now identifying as a "juvenile Gen Zer."

Dude.  I'm happy you're here.  Missed you.*

*Also took a long time to type but with sincerity.
Love.

I've been slightly busy perusing the Kevin Ayers catalog the past few days. He's like an electrified Nick Drake, but with less depth.

Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday, I am virtually covering a conference and will have 10 hour days or so. On those days, I won't be in the thread until nighttime, and I'll update the spreadsheet and any of my playlists at that time. (Though anyone can update the spreadsheet.)

Which also means I need to get to bed. Enjoy your drunk selves!

e-Mk4 who needs a new name because those are a lot of things to type with proper punctuation and all...has gone to bed.

Which also means I need to get to bed. Enjoy your drunk selves!
I'll try to do the spreadsheet.

FIL was supposed to have surgery tomorrow for the new growths but we heard from anaesthesiologist and post-op but no one to actually schedule surgery, so we're thinking maybe pushed til Sunday? This is to say I'll be around this weekend.

Also, I'm quite drunk. I challenged my buddy who walks everywhere to a step competition. First to 50k steps starting yesterday. I ran 8k yesterday and 4k today. And did a 9.5k walk (to the pub and back for curbside pickup).

I also did some weight lifting with Mrs. NV

I was still behind in steps, so after a few outdoor pints with a friend, I did some laps of the neighborhood.

I'm ahead now but a day of exercising and drinking and nothing else increases alcohol impact it seems.

Grand Funk hadn't been drafted at all. 😲
I've been biting my tongue for however many years this draft has been going. Thank you for rectifying this universal shame, sir.

Speaking of Funk, Bootsy Collins is back with a new LP - The Power Of The OneHere's the title track, which has been airlifted in straight from 1978 and may well funk your house right off its foundations. That's George Benson (!) playing the guitar solo(s) and - I think - Bootsy's son on drums. Bela Fleck (!!) also plays on this album, though not this song.

I heard Collins on World Cafe a few weeks ago talking about this album and his career. He was telling the story about how he got fired from James Brown's band. Brown wasn't exactly the most understanding boss. He saw his band members getting blasted after shows and started accusing them of being stoned on stage. Bootsy swears they always had performed straight, but the accusations stung him, so he decided to drop a tab of acid before a show. He said his bass turned into a snake that was trying to bite him, so he threw it on the stage and ran off. Brown fired the entire band

Collins went on to Space Bass fame with P Funk, where George Clinton most definitely didn't have any problems with band members exploring the universe with whatever chemicals were at hand - off stage or on. I can attest this happened at least twice, being backstage at a couple of P Funk shows in DC (friend of mine was a roadie for them and played in one the bazillion spinoff bands in Clinton's empire). I was no stranger to dope in its many forms, but I have never seen so much in one place at one time. I honestly don't know how they could go on stage and play as well as they did, and on time (they rotated members on-and-off during their shows). Most of 'em, anyway - I was there the night Sly Stone was supposed to come out of the Mothership, but he was so blitzed he couldn't do it. Interestingly, Bootsy was the only one I didn't see snorting/smoking/shooting something.

The title of the latest record is a tribute to James Brown, who Collins still professes great admiration for. He said the entire band played to James body movements and would hit "the one" when Brown's body did. In other words, James Brown was their drum.

lol just now realizing I botched my joke. I told it right when I said in person to my family last night. My ADDD is so bad, unless I am at work,  I can't even pay attention to what I type for 1 second. I should have said identity as a "juvenile Gen Xer". Since I was born on the border of those 2 generations. I am definitely not IDing as a 20 year old Gen Z.

Said person could also do what Mrs. Rannous does, which is throw out a song and category from a past day, and then I just find an appropriate place for it on the spreadsheet.

Said person could also forget about rounds and just call everything bonus picks.
I just can't keep up with you guys.  I gave up trying to.

Thanks for helping the handicapped.
