Bonus.NV - The Final Countdown - Europe - This is the Beginning

There's an awful lot of amazing 80s intros. FYI Eye of the Tiger and Black Betty have both been drafted...

Shade 45

BONUS: Started from the Bottom by Drake

I am going to keep posting the opposite

NASA Mission Control is our first playlist staring with N. That took much longer than expected. The only letters missing now are Q and Z.

That is interesting GP trivia!

Did we do a category that was basically "best bridges"? I know we did "The Bridge" which was not about bridges at all but about 70s light rock. I thought we did bridges too but I can't find it.

Nope. We haven't even done best verses or best choruses.

372.8 or 12 - The Bar-Kays - Knucklehead  (Aretha & Otis Show)

Members of the Bar-Kays took the flight to Lake Monona with Otis so they've earned their spot on the playlist.

They were another Stax house band along with Booker T. & the M.G.s and the Mar-Keys although there was a lot of crossover within the groups.  This song was written by Booker T. Jones and Steve Cropper and Booker plays the harmonica lead to get everyone in the mood for Harmonica Sunday.

Not sure there's enough songs for a conspiracy theory playlist

Missed opportunity to have one of the many different drug-themed playlists start with Quaalude.

There's never a bad time for a drug-themed playlist.

1900.19 -  Enrico Caruso - E lucevan le stelle  (Bonus 1900s)

Closing out the channel with the first superstar of the record business. Caruso's powerful voice projected well from the technology of the era. He sold millions of records and helped to sell a lot of phonographs for Victor.

Caruso recorded "E lucevan le stelle" ("and the stars were shining") four times.  I think this version dates from 1904, four years after the song premiered in Puccini's Tosca.

Bedding Taylor Swift
Every night inside the Oculus Rift
After mister and the missus finish dinner and the dishes
And now the future's definition is so much higher than it was last year
It's like the images have all become real
Someone's living my life for me out in the mirror

----

When the historians find us we'll be in our homes
Plugged into our hubs
Skin and bones
A frozen smile on every face
As the stories replay
This must have been a wonderful place

I'm enjoying Opposite World.

Feel like I am shooting 100% except for maybe missing that MJ Off the Wall song. The Killers lead singer reference saved it though.

Ohhhh, that one was challenging.  Good job, even though you chose an awful band!

We will just disagree on that. Huge fan of Blink 182, don't get me started on about how significant their impact was on rock music.

What about Gen Z and Alpha??????

Based on what I've gathered from your reports, Alphas nap too much where Gen Z's self grooming has become problematic. They both like Billie Eilish though.

Blink are awesome. FIL is out of surgery and did well, they're keeping him overnight because of the time. I'm going to bed but first

Oh you gonna take me home tonight
Oh down beside that red fire light
Oh you gonna let it all hang out

One more 1900s on 19 bonus

Maurice Chevalier - You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me  (from 1930)

Zeppo: Hey, do you know who's on this boat? Maurice Chevalier the movie actor. I just ran into him.

Groucho: Did you hurt him?

Chico: How do you know it was Chevalier?

Zeppo: I got his passport. Right there.

Groucho: Now, he can't get off the boat.

Chico: [Pointing to Harpo] Hey, he looks like Chevalier. I can look like Chevalier.

Groucho: I certainly look like Chevalier.

Zeppo: But, that's not enough. You gotta sing one of Chevalier's songs to get off this boat.

[singing]

Zeppo: "If a nightingale, could sing like you, they'd sing much better than you do..."

Groucho: Outstanding. You sing like that and they'll throw us all off the boat.

Are there bonus points for the comedy routine?

372.8 or 12 - The Bar-Kays - Knucklehead  (Aretha & Otis Show)

Members of the Bar-Kays took the flight to Lake Monona with Otis so they've earned their spot on the playlist.

They were another Stax house band along with Booker T. & the M.G.s and the Mar-Keys although there was a lot of crossover within the groups.  This song was written by Booker T. Jones and Steve Cropper and Booker plays the harmonica lead to get everyone in the mood for Harmonica Sunday.

It would have been interesting to see what Otis and the Bar-Kays would have moved on to do had that plane not gone down. The Bar-Kays were his hand-picked touring band, since the MGs were moving into more executive-type roles at Stax. I'd bet my house that they'd have played Woodstock and killed it.

A new edition of the Bar-Kays popped up in the 1970s and had a nice run of funk hits in the vein of the Ohio Players. They weren't transcendent - just a really tight, enjoyable band. Their "Holy Ghost" became the unofficial anthem for funk/R&B shows at the old Capital Centre in DC. It was always the last song played before the live acts started.
