What's the bigger trainwreck, the Lenny thread or the non-mainstream COVID thread? I'm afraid to go in the latter if it is what I think it is.
I have not gone in the Lenny Kravitz thread, but the non-mainstream COVID is just about what you'd expect, or at least it was the first day before I gave up on it.  Lots of FREEDOM.  Lots of "I want real discussion" and then instead 'MERICA LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT.  Etc.

OK. A safe space for people who think that way. No reason for me to venture in, then.

The Lenny thread is pretty far out. Hot takes, cold takes, comparisons that make no sense, etc.

Oh, I forgot "God-given right to breathe out of the two faceholes I was given" or something like that.

Since this draft derived from Sirius Channels this is relevant. Today I talked to my mom about what was going on with Cole, and in the background my dad was fussing on the phone to someone. I asked my mom what is he irate about, and she said he called Sirius upset because they have replaced the Love channel with something else.

They replaced it with the Lenny Kravitz channel. I complained too and told them they need to let Love Rule.

No idea what the Love Channel is about but it's been added to Dayton

SiriusXM Love

Love Songs

Channel 70

Light the candles, turn the lights down low and celebrate the joy of being in love as we play romantic music for you and the one you love.

SiriusXM Love will become Yacht Rock Radio from May 25-September 7.

From 2009–2014, Sirius XM Love was pre-empted annually during the Christmas season and replaced with "Holly," a seasonal format devoted to contemporary pop Christmas music. This format change typically occurred during the first two weeks of November and continued until the end of the year. (Holly is also available year-round through Sirius XM's online service.) From 2015–2016, Holly pre-empted Sirius XM's Velvet instead.

On May 22, 2015, Sirius XM Love became a limited-run James Taylor Channel. Later, it was the home of Yacht Rock.

On August 17, 2017, SiriusXM Love moved to channel 70 and was replaced by PopRocks on Channel 17. For 2018, Love was pre-empted by a different Christmas music channel known as Hallmark Channel Radio—which was hosted by the channel's talent as an extension of its seasonal programming lineup "Countdown to Christmas".

I wouldn't have understood this a year ago

My take is that this goes on as long as Eephus and Pip are willing to take it since they are doing 90% of the work.  I would be more than happy to keep popping in for a couple picks a day for the foreseeable future.

(Although even I will admit that my music knowledge and song picks might start drying up if we get to rounds 700+)

OMG is that thread a trip.  Love the "there is no collective good" portion of the program.

All-in-one weekend post

SAT
Radio Free Bird (Southern Rock) - Last Chance
Breakup Songs - 5th roll
The Noble Eightfold Path (Classic Punk before Nirvana)
Simey's Reading Glasses (Songs recorded by artists older than 50) - 5th Roll

SUN
Lighters Up: Power Ballads
Bob Dylan Radio
NASA Mission Control (Songs about space, being spacy or taking up space)
Radio Alpha (Songs off debut albums)
Bump for weekend.

The Radio Free Bird Channel is flying high and away today.

Bishop is known to dabble in Southern Rock as well as other genres. This song was recorded at Capricorn Records in Macon, Ga, and is considered Southern Rock. For Christmas, I'm gonna buy everyone in here a jumpsuit like Mickeys. One day when we all meet up for a music show, we can all wear and rock out in our "Paloozasuits." 🎉

Round 399

Fooled Around And Fell in Love - Elvin Bishop

Round 399 again. One of my favs by the ABB.

Ain't Wastin' Time No More - The Allman Brothers Band

Last, but not least, I took the live version of this song in Comes Alive!, and might as well put the studio version on its namesake channel.

Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd   🕯️

Lots of Barry Manilow on the playlist, from what I can gather.
My dad used to go to Borders Bookstore all the time when it was around, and drink coffee and talk to strangers. He and some of the regulars formed a group of Borders friends. One time he had a going away party for one of the friends. I came to the party, and he had music playing on his outdoor speakers. He wanted everyone to quiet down when The Rose by Bette Midler came on, so they could all take in the beauty of it.     When Borders closed they all lost touch, but my parents have a pretty tree in their yard that started from a little plant in a pot that one of the friends gave my dad years ago.  They now have a McDonalds crowd, although they haven't been together hanging out inside in over a year. They keep in close contact though, and exchange books to read. My mom loves her books. I guess one day they will start hanging out for late breakfast again.

My only thought was are we doing the fantasy football music league this year (I hope so) and won’t that signal the end of this draft?

To actually have an endgame for finishing, we would need to place a moratorium on ideas for new channels and just play out what we have. If we wanted to set a specific date, we might need to have extra channels and picks each day if that date was earlier than far into the future.

I'm happy to keep doing the draft, spreadsheet, updating of certain playlists and retirement tracking for as long as people want to do this.

I'm good to keep going as long as people want.

I'll run the Summerpalooza football league again as well. I think we've done an August draft in the past.
I'm also in for it -- I might knock down to one a day or drift out for a day or so, but I should be here.

I'd like to do Summerpalooza again and am almost all but in, but how are we going to keep a draft fresh? Seems like a lot of songs...

Spitballing here, maybe we loosen/lose the geographical requirements, we keep that you have to have some connection between the player you draft and the song you pick but you also must have an overall theme to your song picks and that gets reflected in your fantasy team name.

Adds the element of figuring out what people are going for thematically with their picks, maybe the teams also have a playlist that flows at the end going this route...?

So for example, I take Justin Fields with my first pick and a Fall Out Boy song and maybe I'm doing a pop/punk emo theme and my team name is NV My Emo Fields or something.
