Our new houses will be 1.5 miles apart!  They are moving over to my town, and I'm happy about that.  After not living in the same state as my Mom since I was 17, she and my stepfather moved out here five years ago, and we were two miles apart.  She didn't quite get the idea that you just cannot "drop by" my house unexpectedly and have me be happy about it, especially since I work from home, but I think I trained her.  Then we both moved 2-3 years ago and right now we're an hour apart, which isn't the best.  They are in their mid/late 70s, and even though healthy and fine, it would feel better to have them closer for when they hit the point of needing my help.

It will probably be a great thing for both of you.

My mom is finally home!  They think the cancer had only spread to two lymph nodes (which they removed), so it is good news so far!  Full pathology report will come out next week.

howdy, all  🤠 i know MoCS spent a majority of his time on these boards interacting with a great deal of those of you who usually populate these music threads (movies, as well). today is Kent

You mean we have Willie's Roadhouse and Outlaw Country? Ay de mi, those have to overlap at some point.

Goodness knows we wouldn't accept overlap.

Acoustic, Jazz, Outlaw Country and Studio 54 are still hanging out in the green room.  Waylon is going to kill some disco kids when the coke runs out.

Tom Petty Channel hasn't appeared yet either. The waiting is the hardest part.

57.14 - ####ed Up - Queen of Hearts - Faction (Punk)

Was gonna pick them but I'd already picked one older one with Vivian Girls and they're loosely connected somehow, IIRC, so I didn't. But I did listen to The Chemistry Of Common Life and almost took "Son The Father."

The Bridge (mellow classic rock) and Yacht Rock debuted the same day. Some songs were picked for one that I figured would have gone in the other (in both cases).

Yeah, that would be a difficult distinction.

Some 70s on 7 songs could go in either as well.

One way to distinguish for me: There are tons of Neil Young recordings that qualify for The Bridge. None qualify for Yacht Rock if we ignore the coke-induced travesty that was The Stills-Young Band. (And I like yacht rock when it's done right.)

Mrs. Eephus' mom and stepfather live on the other side of SF.  It's been great having them close by this year although I haven't been able to go over to their place and help out around the house as much.

Indeed -- I even picked one for 70s on 7 that is totally yacht rock (which hadn't been rolled yet at the time).

In addition, the first Yacht Rock song selected was Hall and Oates' Out of Touch, which to me fits better in 80s on 8 than in YR or The Bridge.

Who can name the significance of this band...

59.14 - The Turnbull AC's - Pretty Girls Don't Go To Heaven - Underground Garage

Warriors right?

I don't know what this means

Google has informed me, but I believe there is greater significance to this band, assuming I have the right one :oldunsure:

I agree that one fits better for 80s on 8.

Here is a link to the Margaritaville Channel. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1aouKTcAEgIFEcFk5zTVNX     I will eventually do Bluegrass Junction. I think there are only around 4 songs for that one even though it's been rolled twice.

As we/they get older, it really is nice to have them around.  For me, it's particularly nice after spending my entire adult life nowhere near any family members.  It wasn't them; it was where they lived (Louisville area) that I wasn't interested in.

Yeah, their most played song has 1252 spins on Spotify, which is not to diminish things whatsoever, as I believe this is FBG Bonzai's band, as was revealed in a previous draft.

Let's see if we can't get him in here. @Bonzai, got anything for us?

I will update the rest of the spreadsheet tomorrow, I'm working at home. Won't be around tomorrow night, my first concert* in 10 months

*Okay, it's a livestream of The Hold Steady in my basement but I'm having a couple buddies over to drink and order pizza and try to do some approximation of what used to be a concert night.

Oh, I'm sorry. You know what I'm thinking of? I'm thinking of trogg78's band. I don't know if you rememeber it, but they definitely posted themselves doing a speed burn punk cover of a Damned song, and I'm almost positive it was Neat Neat Neat because the guy had a distinctive vocal style to go along with the track.

And that's a great call by Spoonerist to have identified your avatar.

I'd love to say I was that insightful but I saw the exchange and follow up of Bonzai's banning in the PSF. It didn't make a lot of sense. As things go.

That was crazy, wasn't it? I didn't think I was anywhere near the line when I hit submit. Live and learn..

They absolutely coddle the right-wing crazies in there.  Anyone else should probably not post.

ETA:  To be clear, because people are insane, I don't mean that all right-wing are crazy.  Just that those who are both right wing and crazy are coddled and given a pass in PSF.

ETA2:  And all right wing are given a pass, but that doesn't mean they are all crazy.   I have Venn diagrams I can provide if it would help.

ETA3:  I don't really have Venn diagrams but should.

My problem, and I readily admit this, is I'm a bit of an antagonist. I would have been perfectly fine posting there forever and really never crossing what I perceive as the line. But then my main account gets banned for the most irrational thing and I think #### you, I'm going to be a jerk in here then if I'm going to get banned anyway.

I'm so tired of Joe's "good people on both sides", "I have coffee with my friends who are conservatives and we all get along, so I'm going to pretend that conservative "facts" can't be called out as being untrue" nonsense.

I like debating politics but here isn't the place for me, and I *think* I've realized that for good now.

I don't want to lose the ability to access the music community here, which is really the only reason I come here, and start drafts and countdowns and polls and stuff. This music community we've built here is awesome and will keep me coming back.

Agree 100% with every word here.  I’ve seriously considered leaving entirely recently, for the same “let’s pretend that differences in opinion are the same as denying facts” reasons.  I’ve even envisioned my silly departure post.  But then I think, just keep my head down and post only in music threads, which AS OF NOW are still pure.  Who knows where the garbage tentacles might reach, but right now these are still good.
