Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill (5 Viewers)

I'm tricky that way. Stream of consciousness posting is my strength. Whichever thread I'm in, I just determine if the people in it need to know what music I'm listening to and why, and then I go forward.
You also did a nice job of turning the conversation from a boring football game to TV dramas.

Bumping this to the new page. Now including Pop 2K and Coffee House.

I was just clicking on the 80s on 80s or 8s on 80s or 80s on 8s or whatever it is linked above and got an error message, by the way.

I was auditioning songs to take tomorrow since taking two Coffeehouse seemed too obvious, but I've so far been reminded of how many 80s hits were awful.

I screwed up the hyperlink. Should be fixed now.

69.RA  Smog - In The Pines  (Coffee Shop)  Spotify  YouTube

The other day I asked a music-loving friend why we'd never talked about Smog/Bill Callahan (I didn't ask him about Golden Smog, which is the supergroup) and found to my horror that my friend had never listened to him.  So I gave him a four-song starter pack, with this as the final throw-in, and yesterday received this message:  "Listened to him all last night and most of today.  Hypnotized by the sound.  Thought deeply about the lyrics in context of the sound.  I’m blown away.  The kicker?  So far, I’ve listened to only one song.  In the Pines."

69.Nice - Overkill - Men at Work

Their biggest US hits sort of made them into caricatures here, but they had some great other songs. This was another bigger hit, but one of my favorites from them.

I like Men at Work, and I especially like Colin Hay.

Odds krista throws her hands up at the other genres and picks another coffeehouse song? 😆

Last night I dreamed that Pearl Jam played my high school gym on multiple occasions. Guess it means I’ve been spending too much time in this thread.😆
I dreamt Joe Biden was my neighbor and we (my dad since I was living back at home again and all my imaginary neighbors) were relieved he won the election so he would move away because we were so sick of all the wild late night parties Joe threw that got totally out of control.

Round 70:

Coffee House channel

Birds -- Anna Spackman

Full disclosure: Anna is married to one of my best friends. She began her career in Portland (Oregon) and now is based out of the Philly area, and has participated in WXPN's Philly Rising showcase. This is the closer of her 2011 album Her Voice and is my favorite song of hers.

And no, this is not the Neil Young song, it's an original.

The Coffee House mix is going to be uncharted territory for me. I've only heard a handful of songs drafted today.
I just looked at the recent playlist for Coffee House on Sirius, and it wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be like Jim Croce, James Taylor, etc., but it wasn't. It was more recent stuff from the last couple decades.  Most picks are like that, but my John Denver pick is not. Oh well, John Denver is a singer-songwriter with acoustic songs from another era.

I got your back and took an artist from the 60s. The Sirius playlist needs some old school vibes.

I think this can be said about a few channels in this draft, and usually for the better.
