***Official 2020 Election General*** (3 Viewers)

@GabbyOrr_

Trump campaign projecting confidence despite Dem advantage in mail-in ballots that are still being counted. Here’s what their predicting this AM: - 5,500-vote margin of victory in NV - 40,000-vote margin of victory in PA - AZ “will come [our] way at day’s end” - Recount in WI
Looks like even Trump campaign has given up hope for Michigan.

Dems in MN really need to adopt legalizing weed as part of the platform. The various Legalize Marijuana parties took 5-10% of the US Senate race and several US House races.

If the national conversation (not this forum specifically) starts shifting to disputes over individual votes and their validity, I'm going to check myself out. My mind just can't engage in that gray area. I really, really hope they pick up the pace with these counts so the chances of gray area taking hold are minimized. Waiting to count mail in votes was a terrible idea. And I understand some states legally made it that way. That just makes taking a break, which was by choice, even worse of a decision.

Or, people are lying to pollsters at unprecedented rates.
That will be a narrative...so you are saying Trump voters are telling pollsters they are voting for Biden and in 2016 they said they are voting for Clinton?  If so, what is the benefit of that?
Made Biden look like a shoo-in. Believe it or don't -- that lowers turnout among Biden supporters. Not an active lowering ... just a couple hundred thousand voters nationwide getting "too busy to vote" or "eff it, Trump's winning NC anyway" and such. Subtle effects matter a lot.

@piersmorgan
It's quite incredible that the world's richest & most powerful country can't count election votes  faster than this.
And embarrassing, frankly.
PIers doesn't know what he is talking about. Mail-in ballots are being counted late because GOP legislatures prevented MI, WI, and PA from counting them early.

The benefit is that it “owns the libs” because they can’t accurately plan a strategy where to spend money.  Lindsay Graham today bragged that his race wasted a significant amount of “California money.”
There certainly were some misspent dollars by Dems. Polls did seem to indicate that Dems had legit shots at Graham and McConnell. Lots of money ended up being spent there by Dems and neither result ended up being close.

Still seems like an awfully weird strategy.

PA will be really interesting.  I think this one will be really close once all the early voting is in.  A 560,000 point lead seems insurmountable, but Biden came back fairly strong in Michigan.

I find the dynamics to be strange between Dems and Republicans in their voting habits.  R's vote so much more on the day of the election and D's vote early so much more.  I could understand a slight variance, but the percentages are huge.  Trump has a 10 point lead in PA with most of the same day votes counted.  If Biden gets a 60/40 split on the remaining, he will claw back 620,000 votes.  I'm not sure who I would consider the favorite for PA.

granted I’m still in a fog, but isn’t it a lot closer than this right now?
I really can't bring any insight into this other than I've tracked 3 different global sportsbooks throughout the night and into the morning and I'm witnessing a shift that's continuing to move the odds in Biden's favor.  Might not mean anything but it's just one piece of data I have tried to contribute as we all wait.

@MZHemingway

On call, Trump team says Trump will win AZ by 30K votes. Pointing out that their data has been right thus far (including close race in WI when media claimed it would be a Biden blowout)

Hard for me to accept that Gorsuch and Barrett will rule as, essentially, Trump stooges. Maybe it happens. Will have to see it to believe it, though. I could even see Kavanaugh as "disloyal", but I'm not so sure about him.

They all have lifetime appointments -- what do they owe Trump or the Republican Party at this point?
Roberts, Kavanaugh and Barrett were all on Bush’s legal team in 2000 (Roberts working for Jeb, same team really).
OK ... ? Still want to see them hit someone with a steel-toed boot before I accuse them of doing it.

This is the whole premise the GOP supporters came up with in this "shy voter" stuff...never made any sense to me...still doesn't.

To me this sounds like Bush vs Gore all over again.
I could be wrong, but I thought that the FLA Secretary of State (and Bush’s FLA campaign chair) purging votes was the deciding factor? I don’t remember the Supreme Court reversing decisions, just allowing Harris to do what she did. I’m not following too closely, so maybe something like that is happening now, not sure.

Where would the votes come from?  Same with Nevada..all that is left is absentee.  Absentee has been going to Biden at about 70%

I'm willing to accept that their projections in NV/PA are within the realm of possibility.  I have no idea what they are seeing in AZ

Given states set their own rules for how to run elections, the wealth of the country is less important than the wealth of the state.... and given Trump's opposition to the latest stimulus bill was the Dems desire to help "poorly run states", he's getting what he deserves. The longer this decision is drawn out, the more painful his losing will be for him.

@realDonaldTrump

How come every time they count Mail-In ballot dumps they are so devastating in their percentage and power of destruction?

Is it always this way or is this more because of COVID?

as an outsider I understand very little of what is going on, but it sure is fun from an entertainment standpoint.

not sure much on a human level

The claim is it suppresses the vote because they will feel their vote won't matter because it is not a close race.
Yeah, I think it's safe to say that's not how hate and fear work in this country.  It's the exact opposite.  I get the concept of the claim.  Problem is the actions completely contradict it.  Doesn't make sense :shrug:

Math is hard
It's really more of a sociology question as to why mail in voters trend to Biden.

I would venture that mail-in voters are more concerned with COVID which is a big reason for people voting Biden.

It's looking more and more like the virus has cost Trump this election.

Unless there’s some novel legal argument I’m not smart enough to consider or some significant fact currently unknown, I don’t think even a right-leaning SCOTUS is that corrupt. Kavanagh is the only guy I worry about.
Roberts has pretty consistently seemed to vote in ways to preserve the integrity of the court and government in general. I don’t think that Gorsuch has been what Republicans maybe thought they were getting either. The idea that the Supreme Court is now this crazy far right wet dream seems way off to me.
Agree a ton with this. Prove they're crooked party shills first -- then we can re-assess.

@realDonaldTrump

How come? Well...because Trump told his base that they were fraudulent and not to use them. Democrats still used them so they heavily favor Biden.

AZ just had a big data dump in the last half hour.  I assume Stepien didn't see that before his press conference.
That would make a lot more sense.   They were stuck at 80 something for awhile and then it just shot up to 98% which seems like a done deal.

Even Scott Walker is saying the pursuit of a recount to overcome a 20K vote gap in WI isn't realistic.
