Best 2020 songs ever on WXPN (1 Viewer)

I’m confused by the thread title.  Is this the greatest songs ever and just the 2020 version of that list?
It's the top 2,020 of all-time, but the list was put together this year. It's not an objective list, however, so don't expect it to match any orthodox ranking you've ever seen - they asked listeners for their top 10 songs ever and supposedly tallied the votes. But they've never officially released any sort of system for ordering these records.

It's a fun listen, though.

I misunderstood the post and thought you were just real stoned.

“The Pete Davidson movie was totally the best movie of 2020 ever made.”

My favorite station too... I can get it OTA where I live.

ETA: be prepared for the Springsteen onslaught ;)

Wow, 1965-1980 really dominating that list!
There's just more of a consensus about those years than the subsequent ones. I don't know what the age demographics are of their overall listenership, but I imagine their donors, who are more likely than average listeners to participate in projects like this, are primarily Boomers and GenXers.

I think you're right. The Dead won't be far behind
So far...

Aw, I was kidding.  It was an not so oblique reference to the Yoga Pants thread.

I assume no one will actually bust out "Hooters" links.
I got 30 days in the hole for something less than that. Keeping it PG-13 at best these days.

I really don't want to do anything for the next 3 days but sit here and listen to this around the clock.
I would do that if a) I wasn't listening to the playlists from the Genrepalooza draft and b) I could listen to music while working. (I can't, as that's what I focus on and I don't get anything done.)

I like when countdowns zig instead of zag. I never would have expected "Fearless" to be way ahead of some of the other Floyd songs so far, but I respect the choice.

660 - Fearless by Pink Floyd

1167 - Money by Pink Floyd

1171 - One Of These Days by Pink Floyd

1446 - Sheep by Pink Floyd

1648 - On The Turning Away by Pink Floyd

1854 - See Emily Play by Pink Floyd

1899 - Learning To Fly by Pink Floyd

1911 - Have A Cigar by Pink Floyd

As an aside, for some reason, the countdown beyond song #1976 isn't shown on the site.

Really? 2,020 songs and the freaking Eagles come in back-to-back at one point. Was it a rock block?

Cool list, though. Love a lot of the songs Uruk and Getzlaf posted.

If you're following the list on XPN's web site, it's missing TVZ's "Pancho & Lefty" which should have been #329. So, every song played after that is one spot too low. The ranking numbers the hosts are announcing are correct.

So, it appears XPN is going to suspend the countdown when they get to #101 around midnight ET tonight and resume with the top 100 at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

They said between 6am and 8 am tomorrow. they'll play songs that received  exactly *one* vote.

Philadelphians sure love them some Bruce Springsteen.
Philly was one of the first markets to embrace him. Asbury Park/Freehold are closer to NYC than Philly but not too far away from Philly.

Also, the station has a lot of listeners/donors from outside the area, as they have several satellite stations in NJ, PA and MD, and stream online for anyone to hear, so it's not strictly a Philly consensus.

Maybe Philadelphians stuffed the ballot box for his Oscar for “Streets of Philadelphia”.

I still contend that Neil Young’s “Philadelphia” from the same film was a much better song and much more deserving.
