I thought we'd be hearing more about Shi Smith. Sleeper alert!

Smith, a receiver, ran between a 4.43 and 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash, according to to Nagy. His arms measured at 31 7/8 inches and hands at 9 1/2 inches. Smith’s vertical jump was 36 inches.

Penn State LB Micah Parsons ran the 40-yard dash in an unofficial 4.39 seconds during Thursday's pro day.

Parsons (6'3/245) was already viewed largely -- though not in every corner -- as the top linebacking prospect in this draft class. The athletic explosion that fuels his potential upside was on display and then some on Thursday and may well have locked him in as a top-15 selection if he wasn't already. Top-10 is not out of the question either, though becomes slightly trickier just given that four or five of the first 10 picks are almost certainly going to be spent on quarterbacks. The Penn State standout chose to forego his 2020 season and remains relatively raw, but the talent he possesses is undeniable.

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper predicted the Minnesota Vikings will trade up to the ninth pick to select Oregon OT Penei Sewell.

While Sewell has been frequently mocked to Cincinnati at the fifth selection, Kiper sees four quarterbacks going in the first four picks with the remaining four teams taking Ja'Marr Chase/Kyle Pitts/DeVonta Smith/Jaylen Waddle, leaving Sewell there at number nine. Minnesota would then coax Denver to move up five spots to nab the jumbo LT, while the Broncos slide down to select Penn State LB Micah Parsons with the 14th pick.

BYU TE Matt Bushman (achilles) ran a 4.41 shuttle at his pro day workout this Friday.

Bushman (6'4/245) measured in with 32 5/8" arms, 9 3/8" hands and a 77 7/8" wing span. He did not run the 40-yard dash and the broad jump due to him still recovering from achilles surgery six months ago, but the fact he is doing any drills at all is a testament to his will. Bushman recorded a 32.5" vertical would have ranked right around the average from last year's combine tight end group. His 4.41 shuttle run matched Cole Kmet's time from 2020 and an impressive 23 bench reps that would have tied him for second most in last year's class. Though Bushman is long in the tooth at 25 years old, he posted at least 500 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons and is one of the few field stretching tight ends in the 2021 class with an average target depth of 12 yards over his last two campaigns. He is an intriguing flex tight end that can be had in the middle-to-late rounds of this year's draft.

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer

Biggest winner from Michigan Pro Day: WR Nico Collins. Checked in at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, and ran, per one scout's watch, a 4.43 40-yard dash, and a 4.44 on another scout's watch (he only ran one 40), then shined in position drills.

2020 opt-out needed a big day, and had one.
