menobrown
Reading various stuff yesterday had me finally convinced, or at least convinced enough to think it's more likely then not, that SF really moved up to 3 to pick Mac Jones and moving ahead of Carolina was their goal. I just wonder if Carolina pulled this move for Darnold because they did not think Lance or Fields would be available at 8 or don't want Lance or Fields even if they are available. I know Carolina said this does not take them out of the QB market but I don't think you can rehab Darnold with pick 8 on a cost controlled contract for 5 years breathing down his neck. IĀ actually thought that Jones was going to be under valued up until all the talk about him being the SF target at 3. Man, I just have such a hard time thinking that SF gave up all those picks for Jones.Ā But you're right.Ā You look at Shanahan history with Matt Ryan and JG, and there are plenty similarities with those guys.Ā I think Ryan has proved to be worth the 3 pick that Atlanta invested.Ā Why not Jones? tangfoot
Ahead of the NFL draft, this is looking like the worst top of a draft class since 2019.Ā I'm pretty sure that 2021 is the only draft that Mizelle has archived without a rookie in the top 24.Ā This year, the highest rookie is currently at #25 overall and only 3 in the top 36. You can look to NFL draft capital to change this in the coming months, but I think we are all going to be largely disappointed with both the depth and breadth of this class in 2-3 years. http://mizelle.net/mfl/2021/
