*** OFFICIAL Super Bowl LV Thread *** Kansas City Chiefs (-3) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (O/U 56) (1 Viewer)

He's a pretty sore loser and the cheating allegations up in NE. Nick Foles still wants a Congratulations handshake from Brady.
Now that you bring that up ... did anyone think to check the air pressure in those footballs yesterday?

For all we know, they could have been 0.5 psi bellow the recommended pressure like they were for that frigid AFC championship game vs IND.

... and this would explain such a lopsided score last night.

Overjoyed.

Little surprised more people didn’t realize how big of a mismatch the Tampa dline vs that KC oline was
About sums it up. I was having a beer Sat Morn with a group of guys after Tennis and I specifically mentioned the KC OL injuries vs Shaq and JPP and you would have thought I was a space alien talking to them, maybe one said "that's a good point didn't think about that" but the rest just said Mahomes would torch the Bucs.

I thought they looked a little on the small side

Maybe it was discussed earlier in the thread but I haven't heard much talk about the other thing that was obvious last night - KC's defense got killed at the mid level of the field. Tampa's WRs didn't do much last night, which is surprising considering the apparent mismatch against KC's secondary.

But the Chiefs got very little pass rush and couldn't handle the backs or Gronk. They need to get better on defense, especially at linebacker.

They have multiple significant problems at every level of the defense. Plus the offensive line is very bad and they could use a more reliable second wideout. For a team that went 14-2 they have some real gaps to fill. Shows you how good Mahomes and Reid/coaching staff are.

Is Tom Brady the greatest of all time?  And I’m not just talking football.  Greatest athlete ever?
I, after seeing some of the responses...initial thought was of wayne gretzky's records that will never be broken.  However, I typed in Wilt Chamberlain Athlete on youtube....my goodness.     I don't think I can be convinced that he's not the greatest athlete after going down that rabbit hole last night.

A few of Wilt's records aren't ever going to be touched.

Their pass defense was middle of the pack this year. 16th in DVOA. They generally played a nickel as their base, and that helped out a lot. But their cover corners were good, and Mathieu is considered solid. But you make a good point: I think if you told me Godwin would have two catches for nine and Evans one for about thirty -- and that the Bucs would win by 22, I'd have told you you were nuts.

Pats have to be crying 😆
You really think that?  A few have commented here and I know quite a few personally.   He gave them 20 years and six championships.  They love Gronk as well...  I would bet the vast majority were rooting for Brady/Gronk.

55 years old and a life long Pats fan. For me last night felt like watching the Tampa Bay Patriots. I was just as excited as when the Patriots won all but the first Super Bowl, the INT versus Seattle, and the second half of the Atlanta game.  Thrilled for Brady and Gronk.

Yeah. The Chiefs linebackers have been a weak spot for the last two years. They have never been able to cover TE's or RB's coming out of the backfield.

It's always amazing to me that other teams don't exploit this more often.

As for the O-Line, this one is all injuries. They lost their two starting tackles to injury. They had another guard (Osemele) go out earlier in the year. On top of that, they had their starting right guard opt out before the season (the doctor in Canada).  They had another guard they drafted opt out before the season.

It's a small miracle the Chiefs even made it this far. As you said, a testament to Mahomes and Reid and really the GM for having depth at that position. But at some point, all that attrition catches up to you.

So for the Super Bowl, they had to shift all their guys around just to have a starting line. Not the best defense to have to do that (obviously). So they had guys playing out of position due to necessity. And the Buc's crushed them.

Chiefs have some work to do for sure in the offseason. But they will be fine.

Buc's, consequently, look pretty good moving forward.

I’ll be interested to see if the Chiefs add players this off-season to get tougher. Did anyone else see the article that told how Brady texted teammates to be physical cause the chiefs were nearly last in yards allowed after contact? In other words, he thought the Chiefs were soft and would crumble if they hit them enough...and he was right. Same thing happened to the Rams in the ‘01 Super Bowl and they were never quite the same after that. Chiefs could go the same route if they insist on sticking with the status quo.

The Rams were never the same after the '01 Super Bowl, admittedly. But they made the playoffs four times from 2000-2005, won a couple division titles, etc. They never hit their previous heights of glory, but that was because Vermeil quit and Martz took over. Championship windows are small, theirs got obliterated by a bad coach who treated time outs like toilet paper, among many other things (like not leaving anybody in to protect his quarterback, who then got injured, etc.).

One of the major takes that I took from this game...

Tom Brady is much better at calling offensive plays than Josh McDaniels (NEP OC).

At one point last night, 3rd down as I recall, Brady looked to the sidelines, held up his hand slightly in a "wait" gesture, and mouthed "I got this". He huddled called the play from his wristband ... and executed to the tune of a first down. Would never, ever see him call off the play coming in when he was in NE.
Heard on the radio that Arians essentially said Brady was at the wheel for much of the season. Acting as GM... OC... head coach at times.

They said one WR (wouldn't say who) admitted that he couldn't sleep the night before the first practice with Brady because he felt immense pressure to not disappoint him. Dude just carries Pure Win around on his chest, and seems to get complete respect from his teammates because of it.

Hard to blame them. If you want to win, fall in step with Tom... he'll get ya there.

I saw a report that the streaker put $50k on a prob bet of "there being a streaker" at +750. Then went out and won his own bet.

However, Las Vegas-based Covers.com reporter Patrick Everson said a global-market sportsbook spokesperson told him the claims are probably not true.

“No book in their right mind would take $50K limits on that. Nowhere close,” the spokesperson said. “If there was one, I’d have been right there next to him in a pink tutu.”
