Well I agree but not every head looks good bald

:hey:

I'm one of them. Fought it for years. Found I didn't have to go full bald... I trim what I have left down to a 1.5. But the kicker was growing in the quarantine beard... that really makes the rest of the head work.

Can't go full bald due to awful skin condition underneath that is thankfully hidden with the hair I have left.

Male pattern I think.  Up the middle.

Is HIMS and the others just reselling rogain?  Rogain work for this issue?

Not sure how bad it is but yes, medically you can stop it or at least really slow it down.

Rogaine works primarily for the crown of your head but once you stop using it, you'll lose any new grown hair. So you'll be a lifelong customer if you consider this option.  I wouldn't mess with Finasteride (Propecia) although that's another proven drug that helps stop hair loss.  Too many side effects for my comfort (sex stuff, etc).

HIMS is just another niche retailer selling you stuff in a fancy package.

I use the same. Twice a week, one charge lasts for a few months for me. I think I've only ever fully charged it 3 times in the pandemic

I started going bald when I was about 16.  Tried Rogaine while in college, it didn't really do anything for me.  Started Propecia when I was about 23, regained a decent amount of hair, and have kept all of it in the 25 years since.  No side effects for me, although I did stop using for several months after I got married and we were trying to get pregnant out of an abundance of caution.  All my research at the time was that any side effects were reversed if you stopped taking it so I wasn't worried, but like I said no issues.

Of course I could retire a few years earlier if I'd just let it go.  It's cheaper now since it went generic a few years back, but it's still spendy.  And if you stop taking it you'll lose the hair you have because of it.  But like others have said, some heads just don't look good bald.

???  My monthly prescription is $4 at Sam's club.

Really?  For finasteride?  It’s never been covered by my insurance so I pay like $75/month at CVS.

Yikes.  I would suggest using sam's or Costco where their generics are heavily discounted without insurance.  You're getting ripped off.

Here's a listing of how cheap its being offered elsewhere.  Goodrx

I guess so. We don’t have Sam’s or Walmart around here, but I’ll check out Costco.

I have the best insurance money can get you but they won’t pay for my viagra. 30 pill prescription and they will only give me 6 of them a month for $2.

I no longer go through my insurance and I get all 30 pills for $15 using the goodrx coupon.

ETA - Check the price on the goodrx website. I had to switch from CVS cause they wanted like $350 even with the coupon. Costco the same thing is $15.

Costco's kirkland brand has two versions of their rogaine equivalent (a liquid and a foam).  Started with the liquid and had a similar experience as you; tons of flaking and even facial swelling.   The foam on the other hand has been issue less.  Apparently there's a certain ingredient in the liquid version that causes that reaction.   I don't think either is making any difference with my hair loss though.

Been using propecia for a few years now.  Completely stopped and reversed my balding.  It may have impacted my libido but that could also be a function of age, anti-anxiety meds, and low T.  No harm in giving it a try, imo.

In for 1 share of propecia .  I have a catchers mitt face.  Will start growing beard asap just in case.

Do I need a doc for this?

Go see a dermatologist or do those online things where a doctor sees your virtually.

I have a widow’s peak that would make Dragon Ball’s Vegeta jealous, but I’m trimming it close every Friday, using the clippers with no guard. Wife doesn’t want me to go full on Mr. Clean, though,

Maybe 4 years ago I noticed my hair thinning a bit and more than usual amounts of hair coming out when I showered and styled it. I mentioned it to my dermatologist (I see him regularly as I have psoriasis). He gave me a script for Finasteride. It’s a pill I take every morning and costs $12 a month. I currently have the hair of a 20 year old surfer. If you vain like me, I would do it. I’ve had no side effects whatsoever.
