How many team owners got "booted" for having an systemic organizational hostile work place environment and then followed that up with a DEA investigation?

It's been a good week for dysfunctional teams:

WFT: DEA investigating one of their trainers. Lose a game to the Saints where they give up a hail mary TD because they thought New Orleans was going to throw a short pass. Record falls to 2-3

Jaguars: Coach Meyer gets caught getting a lap dance at a bar when he was staying in Ohio for a "Family Situation". Record falls to 0-5

Texans: Coach Culley fails to decline a penalty with 2 minutes left which would have given the Patriots a score and given the Texans an opportunity to tie the game; because he didn't, Patriots kick FG with :15 left and win the game. Texans also inactivate their leader in QB hits (Omenihu) because Culley said Jaleel Johnson hadn't played and they wanted him to get some game action (real reason probably is Omenihu is not happy with the team and recently "liked" a tweet from Deshaun from last January). Record falls to 1-4

NY Jets: Fall to 1-4

Lions: Fall to 0-5

Isn't that how it came out originally? The DEA confiscated computers, servers etc.
I think they are separate investigations. The Gruden stuff came up during an NFL workplace culture investigation regarding allegations made by the cheerleaders.

Controversies of the week come and go, but Daniel Snyder takes the cake here as long as he owns WFT.  Until that changes, the answer to the question of most dysfunctional franchise starts at #2.

And this week in the Battle of the Heavyweights for the right to fight Snyder for the World Title, we have a steel cage match with Houston vs Miami where the winner will walk out with DeShaun Watson in their hands. These two will be meeting on the Gridiron as well in the next couple weeks.

1. WFT

2/3. Hou/Mia

The headlines typically ensnare players, coaches, and sometimes the GM.  However, true long-term disfunction in the relatively small world of NFL franchises always goes back to the owners.

There's a reason the Jets have sucked on the field for a very long time...Woody Johnson is kind of an idiot when it comes to overseeing his football team.  The same could be said for a handful of other organizations listed as option in the thread's poll.  I'd also add Las Vegas, Arizona, and Miami as "next up" on this list.

This is a phenomenal Twitter thread cataloging Snyder’s countless transgressions. I think a lot of people don’t realize the scumbag practices he used to make his money in the first place. This also serves as a sort of mic drop in the discussion of the NFL’s worst owner.
That's just crazy. It's insane what we let people with power and money get away with in this country and world. Truly insane.

Bally Sports' Mike Silver reports that Texans owner Cal McNair used an anti-Asian slur at a team event last May.

McNair used an anti-Asian slur to refer to coronavirus at a team event last May, which reportedly upset employees and caused gasps among those in attendance. In a statement that came out on Tuesday – five months after the incident – McNair expressed regret for his choice of words and apologized. It's unclear what the league may do, especially in light of the recent events surrounding former Raiders coach Jon Gruden.

Speaking Tuesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says the league is keeping the Washington Football Team report private due to a "promise of anonymity" for those who came forward.

If true, it's logical reasoning from Goodell, although it's fair to question both whether the commissioner is simply protecting the league from public outcry as well as why it took so long for this investigation to truly heat up. The accusations in the report are heinous, so one would hope that there are some repercussions for the perpetrators. Goodell went on to say that the league will comply with the congressional inquiry about the Washington Football Team.

Speaking Tuesday, NFL commissioner said that he thinks Washington owner Dan Snyder has been held accountable in regards to the ongoing investigation.

It's an interesting take from the commissioner considering the atrocity of the accusations toward the franchise and Snyder's ongoing involvement with the team. Goodell also said the league will comply with the congressional inquiry about the Washington Football Team.

One of the employees came forward and said they weren't promised anonymity from the public but from Snyder. As soon as he found out, they said, the calls for anonymity were off.

WFT. It’s always the WFT and the only time it stops being the WFT is when people get sick of it always being the WFT and want to change up the flavor of the week.

Hyde: The Dolphins are going all-in on Watson — what a mess | Commentary

Excerpt:

The Dolphins are a bedpan mess. They have no idea what they’re doing. Let’s just put those two sentences on a repeating soundtrack to cover the past two decades until some future year when this franchise makes sense again.

Here’s what general manager Chris Grier and Flores are saying: The problem isn’t us. It’s the players we acquired. It’s not us. It’s the quarterback we spent three sacrificed seasons to draft.

It’s not us.

It’s our decisions.

Is anyone sure this decision is any better? Isn’t this the Dolphins corollary of the definition of insanity? They keep repeating how the definition of insanity is repeating the same things over and over and expecting different results?

Grier didn’t see Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson being great quarterbacks. They are. He traded for Josh Rosen. He lasted three Dolphins games. He passed on Justin Herbert, who was a star from his first start, for Tagovailoa.

So now he wants a quarterback wrapped in an uncertain cloak of sexual-assault accusations? What could go wrong?

In their lawsuits, the 22 women accuse Watson of exposing himself, touching them with his penis or kissing them against their will during massage appointments. Watson and his lawyers have denied the accusations. His lawyers have said “some sexual activity” happened during some of the appointments but that he never coerced anyone.

The real football issue is the Dolphins can’t recognize a quarterback until he’s a Pro Bowl quarterback. Watson is that guy. He’s great. If you’re just talking football, he’d be worth the three No. 1 picks and whatever else is thrown into a trade.

But you can’t just talk football with Watson. It’s not just his legal quagmire. Are the Dolphins ready for the protests outside games? For the public-relations backlash? For the incoming face of their franchise to be made Exhibit A.

The NFL agreed to "look into" coach Joe Judge's accusations of faulty headsets.

Judge, upset after dropping another one-score game due to poor coaching, was quick to blame the league's Bose headsets for miscommunication rather than pointing the finger at himself for kicking a field goal on 4th-and-2 from the five-yard line in Monday night's 20-17 loss in Arrowhead. The 2-6 Giants will need to look at more than headsets in the mirror if they fall to the Raiders ahead of their Week 10 bye.

I thought this was already decided by the vote Texans > Jets > Lions > Jags at being dysfunctional. @Faust posted an article about the Seahawks and they have no business being on this list based on recent performances. They have not stunk long enough to even be included in the conversation.

The polling data clearly shows which NFL franchises are currently viewed by the Shark Pool as teams operating with the highest levels of dysfunctional behaviours. This thread is also intended to track ongoing examples and discussion of dysfunction, and while the Seahawks are not currently a top 4 team in this category, they are certainly showing signs of cracking the top 10. If the Seahawks let Russell Wilson depart to another team and if Pete Carroll retires and the wrong coaching staff is hired for the next chapter - it is very feasible for the Seahawks to potentially contend as a top 10 dysfunctional team moving forward for future versions of this poll.

My tone was meant to be sarcastic. The Seahawks have a long way to go to make this list. They would have to have about 5 - 10 straight years of futility to even get consideration.
