brohans what does your perfect day look like (1 Viewer)

SWC

Bromigo
i think many know that i am at the 1 year anniversary of having a pretty bad heart attack and that since then i have been trying to live a better and healthier life and at the end of a lot of days i lay down to sleep and try to decide if i had a good day or not so i am asking you what your perfect day looks like and by that i do not mean some crazy i won the lottery and kate beckinsale showed up type thing i mean if you were just living your average day and wanted to do it as well as you could what would that day look like

here is what i think my perfect day looks like

wake up early with the birds and the sun

make my bed first things first so that at least one thing is accomplished before i even leave the house

go on a 100 minute walk which is about 5 and a half miles for me

eat a healthy breakfast of cheerios and no fat milk

shower up and get to work and work hard at my job with only occassional breaks when needed for mental health of internet tomfoolery

when driving to and from work do not tailgate anyone or get mad that someone is trying to cut me off do not speed too badly and so on just take it easy and get in safely and without stress

eat healthy for lunch like some fruit and a turkey roll up or just something that keeps myfitnesspal on track

get home and lay down so that my back decompresses and then get out for another 60 to 90 minutes of walking

get home and have a healthy dinner with lots of vegetables and low fat meat in moderation

avoid the urge to snack on stupid stuff

read a book instead of sitting in front of a tv

try to make an effort to reach out to friends somehow most likely in a text these days

do a hobby for at least a little while which for me is wood working or something related to fishing

get dishes done get laundy done and go to sleep with the house cleaned up and shut down

get to sleep by 10 pm central and do not use booze to fall asleep

all day be good to others and do not get snippy and so on basically just follow the path of the brohan

so that is it for me and maybe this is wierd but thinking about this helped me sort of put it all together and get my life back on track after my gripper maybe it will help someone else out to take that to the bank brohans

I had a perfect day back in college over 30 years ago...

I was halfway through my semester in Spain, had just started a relationship with one of the female students from Puerto Rico; she was smart, pretty and her English was better than my Spanish.  We took a day trip to Madrid specifically to catch a special 50th anniversary showing of Gone With the Wind, had a snack beforehand at this little outdoor cafe near the theater, where the reflection of the sunset against the buildings in the plaza where we sat looked spectacular. The movie let out with just enough time for us to catch the last bus back to the town where the school was, enjoyed a dessert of Belgian waffles with strawberries, hot fudge and whipped cream, went back to the dorm and fell asleep together.

I can't imagine what my perfect day would look like now, but it would probably involve something really good happening to/for one or more of my kids.

not a single trip to the bank listed in that sched. i'm getting suspicious, broheart

it's an Irish thing, but a generous splash of or into cold water is how i start my day, the tap water here in VT is nice and cold most of the year and i fill a handtub and make a duck's bath of it every AM. Paul Newman used to fill his sink with ice cubes and plunge his face in for 90 seconds to spark his heart and keep his features. an unheated pool dive would be ideal, but i aint in range of that. my dream would be to step out upon a strand of County Mayo beach each dewy morn and say hi to the selkies for half an hour.

also a big believer in protein/nutrient smoothies for the aging person

I had no idea about your heart attack! So happy you’re doing better. Bank, take it there.

My perfect day is living near the beach...

Wake up early, walk the dog to the coffee shop for my morning Joe. Read the newspaper, sports and style section .

Walk back to the house to drop the dog off and walk to the beach with the wife and a cooler of 10oz beers.

Jump in the water to kickstart the heart.Crack a few open while I listen to my podcasts and nap.

Wake up, leave the chairs and walk back to the crib for lunch.

Nooner with the wife, smoke a joint and back to the beach till sunset.

Shower and head out to an Oceanside restaurant for dinner, some wine.

Uber home and crash for the night.

ETA- MAYBE FaceTime the kids to see how they’re doing. Maybe.

A perfect day to me would not include work

It would vary.  Perfect day for me changes.  I'm thinking retirement in as early as 3 years. But I'm with you SWC as I had a widowmaker almost a year and half ago so different perspective.  Trying to be healthy and stress free as possible.

Day 1.  Wake up.  Breakfast at the club.  Walk 18 holes in perfect weather.  Steam room, shower at club.  Go get a massage.  Lunch.  Then afternoon maybe see the grandkids for fun or at one of their games/activities.  Walk the dog.  Have a great dinner and glass of wine outside with the Mrs.  Read a good book.  Conjugal visit.  Sleep like a baby.

Day 2.  Sit on a quiet beach in Loreto or some other seaside city in Mexico I haven't discovered yet.  Sip beers.  Take a long walk.  Throw the mask/fins on for some snorkeling.  Take a siesta in the afternoon.  Grill some fresh fish to go along with a fresh squeezed lime margarita.  Sleep like a baby.

Day 3.  Work out.  Meet some friends for coffee.  Check the portfolio.  Have lunch with one of my kids.  Do mentoring - thinking of presenting at colleges for those interested in business/sales careers, or mentoring kids would be the first to go to college in their families  Go out to a great dinner with other friends.  Conjugal visit.  Sleep like a baby.

Other days would involve travel, concerts, comedy clubs, learning, friends, family, great food.  Laugh as much as possible.

You really do sound like Judge Smails.  Only thing missing is sending a kid to the electric chair, for their own good.

Wake up in the arms of a woman armed with the knowledge of only her name and her kinks. We do things that require the waterproof blanket at the foot of my bed.

After she leaves for her 10 am class, clean up and head downtown for breakfast tacos on a patio. Walk around downtown long enough to have a beverage or two from the local breweries that have opened up. Late lunch at the local BBQ joint.

Clean up and watch my daughter at cheer practice. Sounds mundane, but her confidence and flipping ability makes me the happiest Dad in the world. Drop her off and pick up my son for a small concert at hole in wall venue. Singer songwriter, half original material, half unique interesting covers.

Drop my son off, late dinner date with someone who's game with me sorting sports cards after mind blowing, physically taxing conversation.

Perfect day would include time with son and then lots of reading.  Maybe playing some baseball or something with him in the morning, and then finding some time later on to sit outside with a beer or another beverage, with a book and the only sounds being the sounds of nature.

I'll lay out my perfect day when I have more time (as I may have experienced it earlier in the 20s), but as I get older the bold is basically my life goal sans the dog part (would prefer to watch a Vikings or Mets win instead).

My wedding day was pretty much perfect.

Woke up around 9 am (not hungover after a successful night at the casino) and met all of my closest friends in the world the one time that they were all in the same place.  We ate some breakfast at the local diner and then hit the links for 9 holes of pure silliness and fun.

After that, we headed back to eat a BBQ lunch at my house and relaxed, watched some baseball and drank a few beers until it was time to head to the church.

Once there, we got dressed up and had a great ceremony with about 300 people in attendance.  The pastor was my youth pastor and a close friend, probably the man I admire most in this world.  All of our family was there and everyone was getting along great.

The reception was awesome.  Had a great meal followed by an open bar and about 3 hours of dancing.  Had a large number of our college friends crash it and it turned into a club-like environment (the relatives started trickling out about 9ish....party ran until 11 I believe as my FIL was happy to add an additional hour for his only daughter).

My wife and I slipped away around 10:30 to our honeymoon suite where I got laid for the first time.

Sorry man, I think you are out of luck - he doesn’t post here any more.

Different varieties of perfection. So this will just be one. Others would include kayaking, cycling, or boating.

This will pretty much describe our annual vacation but it could be anywhere.

Wake up around 6, coffee, quick bite, and an hour long run on the beach or in the woods.

Get back, eat breakfast with the family.

Head to the beach (could be a hike in the woods or anywhere outside with the family, beach is perfection). Stay there for a few hours. If the beach, ride the waves in inflatables, fly a kite, walk, build sand castles.

Eat lunch back at the house. Take a shower with the wife.

Take the family for a could hour long bike ride.  Get ice cream halfway. Walk a bit while out.

Let the kids relax a bit while making dinner on the grill.  Eat dinner.

Intoxiwalk on the beach, watch the sunset.

Play a board or card game with the family.

Let the kids watch TV while hanging out.

Go to bed.

Bagel and iced coffee in my backyard under my awning to start the day.

My son playing baseball and pitching a great game during the day.

Come home, grill, beer, and Yankee game at night.

Some weed and sex with the wife before bed

That's my perfect day

Great question to think about could have many different answers. Right now will go with this.

Wake up after a good nights sleep in Maui. Waliea area, right around sunrise.

Fresh cup of coffee and a smoothie looking at the ocean.

Epic breakfast burrito to go, golf round with friends, walk the course, zero waiting at the tee, done by noon.

Pool time, read, listen to music, have a cocktail and a lunch hang with the wife.

Clean up. Watch sunset.

Sushi dinner.

Walk after dinner.

Hang with the peeps I'm with over drinks.

Many possibilities, but surely something in the mountains: skiing > climbing > biking.

Skiing on fresh powder probably the best of the three.

Whatever the exercise, do it uninterrupted and to the point of exhaustion.

Hot tub.

Having skipped breakfast and lunch, just about any food for dinner will do. Hunger is the best seasoning.

After the meal, board games with friends. Need to exercise the mind, too.

Hope the wife still has energy for late night activities.

Go to bed as more snow is falling.

Live in the FL Keys.

Wake up, strong coffee, fresh fruit from my own mango tree.  A long walk listening to news or a podcast.

Grab my fishing pole, head out to catch dinner.

Mid-afternoon cocktails at the local bar.

Cook up my dinner.

Write in my journal.  Learn to paint watercolors.  Continue learning to play chess.

wake up, light breakfast.

ski on 8-18" of fresh powder, until my legs can't take anymore.  some of the time, with my daughter, who rips.  some solo.

meet the wife for a delicious local brew, or two, on the mountain.  around 2-3.

followed by steam/sauna/hot tub/conjugal action.  possible nap here.   :lmao:

grill something delicious, with a top notch bottle of wine.

spend the rest of the evening with wife and kid.

rinse, repeat.

You could have stopped at "wake up".

But I will add, "waking up in Kauai to fresh ground Kauai coffee and macadamia nut pancakes. Fly private jet over to Maui to play round of golf at Kapalua. Return back to Kauai sitting surf side in Poipu with the waves breaking against the volcanic rock with a rum drink with an umbrella, fresh pineapple and banana.. A few whales out in the ocean. Jump in the pool to cool off periodically. Dinner with macadamia nut crusted local seafood". Few more drinks out on the Lanai enjoying the waves.  Probably need to fit in a brief helicopter ride also."

Glad to hear you can still take it to the bank!

Wow SWC, glad you are ok and hopefully get to experience many perfect days going forward.

pretty cheesy, but I remember sitting on a front porch of a cabin by a stream in the woods of Gatlinburg drinking a stout going through my FBG app preparing for a fantasy draft. Later on going into town and having a good steak, coming back at night and just sitting out on the porch with my wife, another good stout and the bugs chirping thinking to myself I’m pretty blessed...

Reminds me of this song by Ozark Mountain Daredevils:

Whats happened along in my life

I'd wake in the morning and thank god

I'd have my mom make me a breakfast, but skip the bacon.

Get a all from a girl I'd like to hang out with

Get in my convertible with a drop top and hydrolics

Feel fortunate no one jacked my car at the red light.

Another girl Kim sent me a text to meet up later.

I meet my friends for a game of basketball and have an amazing game, scoring a triple double.

Then I'll hit the shower and watch a little classic MTV - Yo! Raps

I proceeded to make it to a friends house who was hosting an improptu craps game,  got a good score with a roll of Little Joe

After that we played Dominoes and I also won that game.

I then was able to meet up with the original girl that called me and we proceeded to have relations, i'd been trying to get with this gal since 12th grade.

I proceed to drop her off, get a burger, and see the lights of the goodyear blimp!

What a day.

After two days of camping, hiking, and mountain biking, wake up in my truck camper to the sound of a mountain stream,

have a quickie with the Mrs.,

enjoy a fresh brewed coffee basking in the early sun and mountain air beside said stream,

do some light stretching, working on my deep breathing, so that I feel limber and relaxed,

pack up the camper and drive towards home calling both of our adult-aged boys about their happiness and contentment,

wife drops me and my bike off at the golf course for a noon tee time with my buddies,

play 18 holes in 3.5 hours, shooting a 69 with a hole in one,

buy drinks for all after the round and revel in my good fortune and their congratulations,

ride bike home with a slight buzz listening to the Allman Brothers - Live at the Fillmore East,

get cleaned up and go to BBQ at a friend's house,

return home to watch sports highlights,

go to bed and fall into a deep slumber.

Drink sangria in the park

then later, when it gets dark

Feed animals in the zoo

then later a movie, too

and then home.
