It's All About Spa-Mar (DelaToga?) Now Featuring Degen Bullrings For Your Disposable Income & Derision 🐎 (Missing GB MoCS) (1 Viewer)

Cool. I didn't do anything to uncover it. It was just available when I searched for it. Not sure what happened.

The original poster does have the ability to hide a thread. We ask people not to do that though as once people contribute, it's not the original poster's thread any more. I have no idea if that was the case here.

Keepmeinmind skipping the Belmont and pointing to the Ohio Derby.

Looks like Midnight Bourbon sitting this one out too.

Current odds:

Essential Quality 7-2
Hot Rod Charlie 9-2
Rombauer 5-1
Rock Your World 6-1
Midnight Bourbon 8-1
Known Agenda 9-1
Rebel's Romance 11-1
Promise Keeper 15-1
Weyburn 20-1
Keepmeinmind 20-1
Brooklyn Strong 25-1
Bourbonic 26-1
France Go de Ina 28-1
Overtook 30-1

Pletcher has won the Belmont three times and has six runner-ups--four of which skipped the Preakness.   Liking Known Agenda here at 9-1, and he's probably my key (although I don't think a 1:02 5f breeze is anything to get excited about).

I'm going to focus on KA, RYW and HRC.

Another week to kill before the last jewel in the Crown but an interesting race this week. Saturday's Matt Winn Stakes @ Churchill features my Derby horse, 8th place Helium, vs @otb_lifer's Derby horse, 5th place O Besos. we aint neither of us the greatest Derby pickers, but the aniscules we get excited about almost always go on to to prominent careers, so it will be interesting to see how this'n shakes out.

Don't want to play favorites between you two kids,, so I'll just box the 2-3 exacta.

without our Fearless Leader's handicapping assistance, thought i'd put you in the hands of my go-to youtube guys for their pre-race analysis of the Belmont

btw, here's last week's Matt Winn, featuring both otb's and my Derby horse, to which i referred a wk ago. both got beat by an aniscule with which i wasnt familiar (but was the favorite). otb's 2nd, mine (oddly setting the pace after being taken back after a good break in the Derby) 3rd

Look, at last year's KD, Baffert had a horse rear up, injure one of his lackies and scratch.  Then his other horse wins it, Baffert runs over heroically, pleads into the camera that he's off to see his injured employee who he cares deeply about, then poses for the cameras in the winner's circle when Authentic reared up and knocked old White Privilege Bob onto his ###.  I'm sure it was just a coincidence that his two ponies went agro-roid-rage before and after the race.  Totally no drugs involved at all.

Dude is dirtier than a Frenchman at a Bourbon Street Brothel.  Problem is they are ALL dirty and so be careful of glass houses and all that....
Dirty f'n cheater.  This sport is crooked and vile.  Done with it for good.

always has been. my first job, 13yo, was guarding stalls on the summer fair circuit in MA against guys freezeneedling favorites in the next day's $1500 claiming races

havent been close to the game in a while, so i cant judge. what he's suspended for aint much worse than rubbing some Icy Cold, but the swift severity of the penalties says its something larger. it could be that he's a blood-doper who they cant catch, benighted CYAness for the "sport" or comeuppance for a career of front-running d-baggery. thoughts?

I don't know much about horse racing but I'm still trying to figure out why the trainers get so much credit.

The animal was bred to run. So....congrats on scheduling when it practices running, (and choosing what drugs to pump into it) I guess

basically, it's keeping em sound & sane, and a deep ability to lay out long lines o' bull#### to keep owners going all-in. the equine heart is almost impossible to stress on legs long and thin enough to make the highest speeds possible (which is why blood-doping is so damnable & effective) without breaking down the latter, so "training" really isnt what it is.

mostly, each horse that makes the cut has three furlongs of real run in him for a race. finding a horse's distance, surface, class and adapting its style to place its burst in the most advantageous position is most of it. plus, keeping the bill-payers forkin' it over, which is brutal work.

It really is a bizarre sport. Midgets with whips terrorizing large four legged beasts around an oval surface, all for our betting pleasure. Makes boxing seem almost normal.
but only maybe trueblue restaurant people are as devoted to their pursuit as racetrack folk. there is no feeling better than being mounted at dawn (both ways) and no living thing more beautiful than a special horse.

to replace a broodmare of ours who'd died of blister beetle, we bought a mare in OK who was in foal to a son of Secretariat. he grew to be very similar to his grandad (17.1, 1300lb chestnut with a blaze). i paid feed & vet on him for almost five years, even though he wouldnt turn left and was too big for any person or horse (we tried three horse outside him and he'd run thru) to convince him to, i would weep to watch him against the burgeoning sun, as i am now to think of it. i'm ashamed to this day not to have been able to afford my devotion. just the way it is.

Not sure what happened to him

 Hope everything’s  ok ...
I'm guessing things are okay, that's all we can do. It's not myth nor legend, but he chooses to let us know what's going on, what's not for us. That's his prerogative. I wish him nothing but the best.

What I do know is that the thread's still golden even without the daily handicaps. wikkid's giving of himself, bestowing wisdom and anecdotal love for all of us, and stepping in for a friend who might have abruptly stepped out for a moment, a gesture which I appreciate him dearly for, more than he'll know.  -fish- and Smails have knowledge to share. Others, should they contribute, would too. otb is full of life, but so ain't these other cats, and you, too, my man. Guys like Hoard are sneaky players, silence befits a poker player. (Can you tell I'm neither a horse nor poker guy?)

Enjoy this stuff maximally. Belmont in two days! I'm betting some dollars on the 2-3 horses, too, just for kicks, if the casino by me has any sort of reputable sportsbook, that is.

2-3 exacta what?

Let's go!

What’d I miss here? Is @otb_liferon a walkabout?
my buddy gets most of his energy being mad at things, mostly cuz he either doesnt like it as much as he wants to or likes it too much. turns out, if you dont like that, he'll pretty quickly get mad at you. he has so much love in his heart, that i've stopped caring where he is and what he's mad at and just trust myself to enjoy him when he gives me the chance. i think we like it best that way.

i can see the 2-3 being anyone's exacta, but i dont believe either will be in mine. i'm gonna take one more good look, cuz i'm a little surprised by who i'm starting to like.

I hope he got his 8-1 on RYW, that's some nice odds. Gonna guess he gets a better trip this time around.

Eh, this isn’t new
Oh, I know.....I've been betting horses since before I was legally allowed and as a history buff, I've read the great books, follow the legendary writers, stay up on social media so believe me, I know cheating isn't new.  But this is just so in-your-face egregious that I've had enough.  Nobody liked learning the Patriots were cheating or the Astros cheated - it sucks when the greats are busted doing something shady and our reactions to it are visceral.  But Baffert?  He's been lionized for decades now and rightfully so, but he's not even hiding the cheating and acts like a victim when he's caught.  F U, Bobby.

Going to bet on ladies golf, thank you.

DK took down the Women’s Open last night

:kicksrock:

Iraq was injured yesterday and will “miss a few weeks”

If Known Agendas new jock has been announced I can’t find it

Haven’t figured out any plays yet but Hot Rod Charlie is my boy I think
agree, and i got a reason. didn't like him for the Derby, have an excuse for Rock Your World (hand-ridden after being shuffled back early @ Churchill, so no harm done) but i'm only half backing him in the Final Leg. here's the thing - all season we been hearing what a key race - the handicapper's favorite thing - the Louisiana Derby was among the Derby preps. Well, Hot Rod Charlie won the danged thing and i rewatched the Kentucky Derby and HRC had Essential Quality on his hip the entire trip and honestly looked like he would if they went around again (and the handicappers are questioning EQ's ability to go any farther than he already has). not gonna get off RYW, so i recommend an exacta box of 4 & 7, picking HRC over RYW for posterity, with Rombauer (that he was perrrrfect for the Preakness does not advance him here) picking up the pieces for the shodo. nufced

W - Hot Rod Charlie

P - Rock Your World

S - Rombauer

recommended play - exacta box 4-7

Known Agenda bad luck in the draw in the KD and now this.    Gotta be driving Pletcher crazy.

I like Known Agenda to hit the board, unless Mike Smith is riding.

Before the Irad injury I was thinking HRC, RYW and KA.   I don't have any faith in EQ and I don't think he will like this distance.

I was watching some show where someone was trying to push Overtook as a longshot who might hit the board, so I re-watched the Peter Pan.   That race was sloooow and Overtook didn't so much close in the stretch but more just ran less slow than the rest of the field after the leaders.  37.51 last three furlongs, and he couldn't gain ground.   Hard pass.
