My parents have one of the rack style ones at not a fan TBH. The thing is kind of a hazard. Towels also sort of get this off putting smell to them on there.

You can get the rack ones, or just save a few bucks, and take your wife's curling iron, and put it directly on your thigh.

Hadn't heard of the bucket kind...obviously takes up more room than something wall mounted, but is an option when there isn't adequate wall space. will have to research a bit.
