January 6 Defendants & Discussion (1 Viewer)

But I thought there was no conspiracy and it was just a rally that got out of hand?
As it turns out, J6 was a pretty bad day in American history, and a lot of gullible people are going to jail, along with a few unscrupulous and seditious traitors who think their opinion should overturn a free and fair election and the will of the people.

Shocking, I know…

Jan. 6 defendant Daniel Rodriguez plans to argue at trial that he was acting under Donald Trump’s authority.

Rodriguez admitted in an FBI interview that he tased Officer Fanone as he was being dragged through the Jan. 6 mob.

His lawyer tonight says the interview (which she appended to her filing) should be suppressed because he wasn’t properly Mirandized.

Key passage:

Question: Earlier, you told us you were in the tunnel, you were getting squished, and so you left the tunnel for about a half hour and came back, you had the taser in your hand, and you walked up and you tasered the officer once in the neck. And you did it because you felt like he was accosting Trump supporters, or patriots.

Rodiguez: No, I didn’t do it because I felt he was accosting Trump supporters or patriots. I just thought that he was going to get in… he was struggling. Like, they were pulling him out and I…

Question: He was struggling with who?

Rodiguez: Like, they were carrying him. They were, like, holding his arms and his legs and his feet. I don’t know who those people were. I…

Question: So why would you taser somebody that’s being carried?

Rodiguez: I guess…

Question: Danny, you realize you assaulted that man, right?

Rodiguez: Yes

The government has provided videos filmed by Capitol defendant Brian McCreary, who pleaded guilty.

Eight new videos entered into evidence…

These are really just more evidence of the violence and chaos of J6.

Hopefully, this video evidence will assist in the identification, arrest, and prosecution of more insurrectionists.

Seems like there have been a bunch of defendants claim this, which is reasonable. How else would "stop the steal" blocks from the certification be interpreted?

Any idea how many people claimed that they were only doing what Trump wanted them to do?

More from Rodriguez: https://www.mediaite.com/news/jan-6-rioter-accused-of-using-stun-gun-on-officer-mike-fanone-broke-down-in-fbi-interview-im-an-ahole-and-piece-of-sht/

Rodriguez told the FBI that he’s worried his “mom’s going to find out” what he did, and that he only participated in Jan. 6 to stand up for what he believed in after he unsuccessfully tried to join the U.S. Army.

“They didn’t take me. And I just thought that I could still contribute by ― you know, I didn’t take an oath, but I could still stand up for those same things on my own, you know?” Rodriguez said.

He told the FBI that he was worried they were “going to come round us up” after Donald Trump lost the election.

“My beliefs are that an overwhelming number of people came out to vote for Trump and he actually did win that election, the popular vote and the electoral vote,” he said. “They made sure that the election was lost and there’s no point in voting anymore, so it’s like ― I’m thinking they’re going to come, like, you know ― they’re going to come round us up."

Per new court filing, Jan 6 defendant Cody Mattice of New York told the feds he deployed chemical spray at Capitol amid the riot to….

”…stop rioters from attacking police.”

Feds respond:  "That claim, of course, was transparently false"

In weekend court filing, high-level  Jan 6 defendant Thomas Sibick (accused of assault & theft from DC officer Fanone) again seeks release from jail--- indicating there's dissension and problems in the J6 wing of DC jail.

Defense says Sibick "volunteered" to go in the "hole"

Makes you wonder why someone would voluntarily go into solitary confinement.

Sounds like he is cooperating with Feds to save his on bacon…

Sounds like Mr. Sibick is cooperating. Although, we shouldn't assume so just because he might prefer solitary confinement to multi-person cell confinement. He could just be anti-social and just feels better when he doesn't have to interact with others. Who wouldn't want to feel better in jail if there is an option to attain that? It is irresponsible of us to conclude anything from his attorneys comments in court.

Riley Williams, the Pennsylvania woman accused of directing some of the mob on Jan 6, is scheduled for arraignment at 1:30pm.

(Grand jury charged her with 8 counts on Oct 6)

Williams had been accused of stealing a laptop from Speaker Pelosi's office suite.

DC government official says US Marshals are at the Washington DC jail conducting inspections and speaking with Jan 6 defendants .

DC officials tell [Scott MacFarlane] US Marshals inspection team have been on-site at DC jail since 9:30am.

Official says this is an annual inspection of both the Central Detention Facility & Central Treatment Facility, where Jan 6 inmates are held.

Donald Smith of New Jersey

pleads NOT GUILTY in US Capitol breach case.

Feds say tipster alerted that Smith gloated about being part of Jan 6…

Feds say tipster told agents this: "He says he was in Nancy Pelosi's office and that it was the best day of his life.”

Nah, it's the people who sent them that are the gravest threat to the United States. Unfortunately, just like when mob hitmen are prosecuted, it can be tough to work your way up the ladder.
And all those people are getting off with slaps on the wrist… 45 days in jail, a little probation…

In court motion this morning, Jan 6 defendant Thomas Vinson, who's pleaded guilty to misdemeanor and faces sentencing Friday, reports he's been asked to testify as a witness before the House Select Jan 6 Committee... and wants to do so.
So, he was asked. Not subpoenaed. And supposedly wants to do it. I would bet that in agreeing to testify he is hoping that it will carry some weight with the judge at Friday's sentencing. It doesn't sound like he offered to testify prior to being asked but, he may catch a slight break in sentencing due to it. I wonder how many others will agree to testify if asked?

Court appearance is beginning for US Capitol Police officer arrested & charged w/ obstructing the Jan 6 investigation...  accused of alerting suspect to delete social media posts.

Officer Michael Riley is about to be arraigned.

He's accused of sending alerts to a Facebook contact who was a suspect in Jan 6.

Riley pleads NOT GUILTY to both federal charges.

US Justice Dept recommends two months in jail for  Jan 6 defendant Boyd Camper of Montana, who admits bringing his 10 y/o son w/ him to  Capitol (leaving son behind w/ friend outside.)

Camper is military vet w/ criminal history, per feds.

Feds allege Camper claimed "several busloads of Antifa members, escorted by State Police, were brought to the Capitol to wreak havoc.”

And said, in TV interview, "We’re going to take this damn place. If you haven’t heard it’s called the insurrection act and we the people are ready.”

The Oath Keepers are known as a violent extremist group.

The above link is a Twitter thread by Issac Arnsdorf, a reporter/writer for ProPublica.

The thread starts out with a video of Oath Keepers forming a military style column, and heading through the crowd and up the stairs to the Capitol.

The author then mentions that he got an Oath Keepers membership list from an anonymous hacker.

It included 10 sitting state lawmakers, all GOP.

Those lawmakers are listed in the thread.

As more Jan. 6 defs face sentencing, judges are paying attention to how prosecutors/defense lawyers distinguish one from another.

Chief Judge Howell has ordered the govt to provide direct analysis on this in the case of Jack Griffith.

Feds are seeking 3 mos incarceration.

Griffith pleaded guilty to the parading count we've seen in most Jan. 6 plea deals so far.

In arguing for more time behind bars than in other parading cases, prosecutors focused on evidence of lack of remorse and making light of the court proceedings.

Troy SMOCKS, a black defendant who is being sentenced for making threats related to Jan. 6, is using his sentencing hearing to argue that he's being punished more harshly for his crime than white Jan. 6 defendants.

"Brandon Straka ... He was allowed to plead guilty to a class 3 misdemeanor with a $500 fine. Again, he’s a white guy. This is racism."

SMOCKS has been detained since January 15. He has an extensive criminal history. He's about to receive a sentence from Judge Tanya Chutkan.

SMOCKS claimed at start of his remarks that he's the only black Jan. 6 defendant currently jaled.

Chutkan quickly noted that she is presiding over the case of another black person, Mark Ponder, who was accused of assaulting Capitol police with a baseball bat.

CHUTKAN isn't having it. She says that Smocks encouraged the violent riot to stop the transition of power.

"Mr. Smocks now seeks to somehow compare himself and drape himself in the mantle of civil rights. I for one find that offensive ... that is a false equivalence."

CHUTKAN: "People died fighitng for civil rights...People were beaten, they were tortured mentally and physically. For you to hold yourself up as somehow a soldier in that fight is audacious."

SMOCKS gets 14 months.

Toughest Jan. 6-related sentence so far — for someone who didn't go into the Capitol.

A Civilian's Guide to Insurrection Legalese

Everyone's talking about sedition, treason and conspiracy. Here's what these terms actually mean and how they've been enforced.
I had the opportunity to visit the so-called "battlefield" at Gettysburg last week.  The tour guide couldn't even form a cogent response when I asked him how many of the gray-clad tourists present for those three days in July were charged with insurrection.

Hearing set for Wednesday in high-level Jan 6 case of Cody Mattice of Rochester, NY

Mattice is accused of knocking over barricade, climbing over crowd and directing chemical spray at police at Capitol.

He remains locked up in pretrial detention.

High-profile Jan 6 defendant Riley Williams of Pennsylvania returns to court on Feb. 18, 2022.

Williams is accused of directing mob and stealing computer from Pelosi office suite.

She's pleaded NOT GUILTY.

Prosecutor told a judge a plea deal is unlikely…

Disgusting.  I can’t believe anyone on these boards or elsewhere even attempt to minimize this assault on democracy.
It’s literally how Democracy dies.  We are seeing it die right in front of us.  It’s disgusting that anyone would be so one siding in their thinking that they’d rather burn the ship down than lose.  Those who chuckle it off or cheer it on are culpable and they won’t even care.  To them, it’s their country, and anyone who disagrees  is an enemy of the(ir) country.  They are simply too propagandized to fight for anyone but corporations at this point.  They will cut their own throats to own the other side.

And yet you and your side said nothing went blm/antifa was running around burning down cities, attacking local state and federal buildings, murdering people and taking over city blocks.

As of today, Alec Baldwin has killed one more person than the entire combined people on 1/6.  Blm/antifa is up to about 20 or 30 over that.

Do us a favor and spare us your fake outrage.

Do us a favour and assume we all know you don’t understand the significance of Jan 6 and that you continue to conflate it with the race riots.  No need to post it for the 1000th time.

just sit back and watch the Q caucus get demolished in the coming weeks here.  The rats are fleeing the ship.

But, we get it.  You think it’s the same thing as looting a 7/11.  We ALL get it.
