Nirvana Nevermind Baby Sues 30 years later (1 Viewer)

Here's a snippet from MSNBC

As a result, Elden "has been and will continue to suffer personal injury" and "permanent harm," including "extreme and permanent emotional distress with physical manifestations, interference with his normal development and educational progress, lifelong loss of income earning capacity, loss of past and future wages, past and future expenses for medical and psychological treatment, loss of enjoyment of life, and other losses," the suit stated.

This deserves nothing but laughter.

I'm sure he was instantly identified as the infant from the cover during every job interview he went on.

Spencer Elden is 25 years old, but once, he was the baby on the iconic cover of Nirvana’s Nevermind, which was released 25 years ago today. Elden marked the album’s anniversary this weekend the best way he knows how: by recreating the shot for New York Post. He then told the Post that he prefers the Clash to Nirvana, which is fine, but still a little disappointing.

Elden also recreated the famous underwater pool photo for Nevermind’s tenth anniversary in 2001, for its 17th in 2008 , and for its 20th in 2011. “Every five years or so, somebody’s gonna call me up and ask me about Nevermind … and I’m probably gonna get some money from it,” he told Rolling Stone at age 12 in 2003. Keep chasing those dollars, dude.

/The defense rests.

Also, if this guy thinks he has problems now, wait until he loses this lawsuit. No more easy pay days and everybody will hate him.

From this article:

"in a 2016 interview with GQ Australia, he changed his tone. "It’s ############ up," Elden said. "I’m pissed off about it, to be honest." When the interviewer asked Elden why his feelings changed, he replied, "Just a few months ago, when I was reaching out to Nirvana to see if they wanted to be part of my art show. I was getting referred to their managers and their lawyers. Why am I still on their cover if I’m not that big of a deal?""

:oldunsure:

Yeah, he’s pissed that he’s not that important. Ego trips will get you.

I couldn't believe it when I read the headline but with how things have shifted in this country I am not the least bit surprised and expect their to be a MAJOR FALLOUT of the Rock Gods of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, they will all pay a price of some sort or the other and their fans will be made to feel like space aliens if you openly talk them up in public circles.

You been to a mall or department store lately? They don't play RnR, they play the worst cheesy make you throw up and want to run out of their department store as fast as humanly possible just to get away from the noise inside. My point is the people who control things don't like RnR and the soul has been ripped from it over the last couple decades.

-Was this child pornography? Where does it end? Can the Kardashians finally be exposed as Adult Film Stars with zero talent other than butt and breast infusions and posting doctored photos on social media? Who can predict the future?

The album will be canceled out so if you have an original one you might want to hold on to it.

I get it he probably deserves more money from this but to claim personal injury when he has  Nevermind tattooed across his chest and has recreated this photo many times is a bit over the top.  Also suing Chad Channing who was no longer the drummer at the time is ridiculous as well.
yes but think of all the mental scarring to having his wee wee flashed to the world including all the girls he grew up around and that kind of mental anguish may have in fact turned him into wanting to act out and recreating the event to help him better understand since he was just a little baby and was helpless in being involved in the entire process.

And where does it end? Maybe all the babies who posed virtually naked in all those pampers commercials over the years would like to be compensated better for their role in diaper sales over the years. What about the Coppertone baby?

Who exactly is "they" at this point besides managers and lawyers?  I mean the band has been defunct since Cobain died and Grohl is a little busy with one of the biggest bands in the world.

Not sure what he wanted "them" to do.

Its absurd.  The guy thinks he's somehow special but in reality, he's just the one whose parents were willing to sell him out (for $200) and put a picture of his infant junk on a CD cover for the whole world to see.

Basically, his parents whored him out and now that his life isn't turning out the way he wanted, he's hoping to squeeze the band for a $$ so he can keep on doing his "art" instead of getting a "real job".  (not saying art cant be a real job. But if you're not making a living from it.....)

honestly, this is really just boilerplate language. Nothing to get too agitated about.

I am kind of surprised it hasn't be phased out over the years.....I know, I know....iconic rock album cover and everything.....but baby wanger on it nontheless.

This guy doesn't deserve any pum pum.

So the dude has Nevermind tattooed and has reposed for the pic mulitple times, but he's suffered from being a victim  of child porn? :lmao:    GTFO.

It's just a dumb money grab.  Stupid, but probably not even in the top 50 dumb lawsuits filed today alone.

He was smart to "only" ask for $150k, which is essentially nothing to someone who's net worth is $320 million.

Did a parent originally allow the photo to be used? I assume so.
Yep, they got paid $200 for the right to photo their kid in the pool

I think the reasons for this guy's lawsuit are ridiculous but Nirvana could still throw him a little coin as a good faith gesture.  $200 for what turned into an iconic cover is too good a deal for them.

Silly stuff IMO.

However, if I was the young girl on the Blind Faith album. Assuming she's still alive, I'd be paying close attention to this.
