Footballguy
It's finally September Sharks, which means that it's time to throw out our football predictions for the upcoming season.   Let's see who nails it and who looks silly come Christmas.

Let's go with some non-crazy ones to start -

Six teams will have four wins or less even with the added week. Two will have two wins or less.  One of those will be Houston.

Nagy is fired.

Nfc west has three playoff teams - Sea, LVR, and SF (TB, Dal, and GB are the other division winners and NO takes the last playoff spot)

Daniel Jones, Sam Darnold, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton, and Jameis Winston are all benched at some point in the season.

Zeke declines.  250/850/6 with 35/250/2 receiving

Crazier predictions -

Shenault goes 80/1000/8 with an added 30/200/2 on the ground

One of CEH or Antonio Gibson is a top 3rb

Kliff Kingsbury gets fired.

Dak continues the pace he set at the start of last year

Jackobi Meyers goes 85/1000/4

Both SF and NO play games where both their qbs get around half the snaps at qb (within 60%/40%) without it being caused by injury.

10 predictions:

1. Cleveland's running game is dominant, with 2 1,000 yard rushers, in route to making their 1st Super Bowl, and promptly lose to Tom Brady and the Bucs.

2. Dak Prescott throws for over 5,000 yards, and supports 3 1,000 yard WR's. Cowboys win the NFC East, and Mike McCarthy wins coach of the year.

3. Dalvin Cook actually stays healthy, and with the extra 17th game, runs for 2,000 yards.

4. Saquon Barkley is the fantasy RB1 in the 2nd half of the season.

5. Javonte Williams wins offensive rookie of the year, and Patrick Surtain wins defensive rookie of the year, as Denver makes playoffs.

6. DK Metcalf takes the monster leap forward and leads the league in yards and TD's. Something like 100-1600-17. Seattle wins the NFC West.

7. TJ Hockenson has over 100 catches, as the Lions surprise by not finishing last in the NFC North.

8. The AFC North has 3 playoff teams for the 2nd straight season, and is also the AFC Championship game matchup. Baltimore@Cleveland.

9. Buffalo is the only AFC East team to win 8 games.

10. Kansas City loses in the 1st round of the playoffs, as the defense falls apart, and nobody steps up as a reliable weapon on offense beyond Kelce/Hill.

1. Gerald Everett is a top 5 TE

2. The Raiders offense surprises many

3. Justin Fields is OROY

4. GB wins the superbowl

5. Detroit only wins 2 games

2. Dak Prescott throws for over 5,000 yards, and supports 3 1,000 yard WR's. Cowboys win the NFC East, and Mike McCarthy wins coach of the year.

I'll nitpick this one.. if Dak is throwing this much (like last year pre injury), it will be because they are losing (like last year pre injury).

If they are winning, he wont have those numbers.  If he has those numbers, they aren't winning.

They could win a lot of fourth quarter shoot out games.

What reason do you have for putting the giants in the playoffs?  They're one of my potential 4 win teams.

NFC Division Winners: Rams, Vikings, Buccaneers, Cowboys

NFC Wild Cards: 49ers, Cardinals,  Packers

AFC Division Winners: Chiefs, ravens, Bills, Titans

AFC Wild Card: Broncos, browns, patriots

Wild Card Playoffs

NFC: Packers over Vikings, cardinals over Bucs, 49ers over cowboys

AFC: pats over Ravens , Bills over browns, Titans over Broncos

Divisional Playoffs

NFC: rams, 49ers

AFC: Chiefs, Titans

Conference Championships

NFC: Rams

AFC: Titans

Super Bowl LVI

Titans

Derrick Henry sets the season rushing record

Mac Jones OROY

Matt stafford sets passing records and creates real HoF possibilities

Julio doesn’t exceed 1,000 yards but still makes the Titans better

QB Darnold and Winston are both top 7 QB's

RB Ty-Son .Williams BAL has 1200 combined yards and double digit TD's

WR Gage ATL has 100 catches for 1200 yards

TE sleeper Drew Sample - he'll finish top 10 fantasy

NE misses the playoffs.again. Mac Jones throws equal amounts of TD and INT

Denver surprises many, makes the post season, Jeudy and J Williams are highly fantasy viable.

Jets finish 8-9 or 9-8.good season for the up-n-comers. Michael Carter bursts on the scene and takes over the #1 role opening day, and never looks back.

Falcons and Detroit both compete for the first ever 0-17 franchise. arthur smith's coaching philosophy does not do well in atl. the team implodes, killiing fantasy value of pitts, ryan, ridley, davis.

James Robinson is a RB top 5 this season. Meyer unleashes the beast. he blows away his 2020 stats, rushing 300x for 1300 yards, 10 td, 65 recs, another 3 td. this offense will lean on him to keep defenses honest and Lawrence will then pick them apart.

no Balt Rb has more than 75 carries outside of Gus Edwards who will easily finish as a top 10 RB. dude's a machine, a wrecking ball with elite speed and 5 yards per carry avg.

Big Ben finishes as a top 5 QB - Steelers go back to the SB. Claypool catches 90 balls and Harris gets about 1200 rush yards on 300 carries.

J. Williams starts opening day and never looks back. 275 carries, 1275 yards, 4.7, 10 td, 40 recs , 360 yards, 5 td. scores more 20+ yard TDs than any RB in the NFL.

Jeudy - 95 recs

Fields becomes the most sacked QB in 2021, throws a TD:int ratio of 1:1. largely disappointing season.

top 5 RBs of 2021: CMC, nick chubb, james robinson, gus edwards, zeke.

Brandin cooks finishes in the wr top 15 yet again

Chris Godwin catches 113 balls out of the slot ala edelman, welker.

Danny dimes is benched midseason.

Nagy fired by week 4.

Pitts catches 40 balls in 2021.

OBJ finishes as lackluster WR #45, catching 65 balls for 900 yards.3 td. yawn.

Jets win 8 or 9 games. same as patriots.

lions go 0-17.falcons go 1-16. houston wins 7 games minimum.

Chiefs miss playoffs. go check history of SB losing teams the year after the game. not good.

D. Henderson plays all year, scores 10+ TD, averages 4.7 per clip on 290 carries.1363 yards.

Waddle in OFROY hunt. catches over 80 balls.

Dak in MVP discussion

Philadelphia Eagles lead the league in sacks

Minnesota Vikings finish the season 5-12

Calvin Ridley is WR01 overall for fantasy.

Joe Mixon finishes in Top-5 fantasy RBs.

Lockett outperforms Metcalf (WR to own for SEA).

Corey Davis is top-20 WR.

McCaffrey finishes outside top-5 overall in fantasy (saw a stat tonight... last consensus #1 overall pick to finish in the top-2? Tomlinson 2007).

Marquez Callaway is the league winner we're all talking about in Dec (Waiver Wire Gem in leagues where he hasn't already been drafted)

Tom Brady leads the league in TD passes.

Zeke and Barkley finish outside top-10 RBs.

Amari Cooper reminds us all that he is the WR to own in DAL (added 07 Sep 2021)

Best stat season for any rookie class in NFL history.

  1. Despite missing 4 games, Rashad Bateman leads all rookie WRs in yards and TDs
  2. Najeh Harris starts losing carries to Anthony McFarland and Benny Snell after early season struggles - Snell leads the Steelers in rushing yards with only a little over 500 yards.

just grouping rookie predictions for future review and retorts. love all of these.

10 Bold Predictions

  1. Sam Darnold, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andy Dalton and Tua Tagovailoa are all benched at one point this season
Futz and Andy are virtual locks to be benched at some point. Add ty Taylor to the list.

I’ll take the other side on Tua - adequate QB1 in FF.

Justin Herbert 5000 yards and 40+ TD's

Keenan Allen 120-1500-12 Double digit TD's for the First time

H.Ruggs Explodes and takes away from Waller Elite #'s

M.Gordon steal of the draft

McVay unleashes Stafford's true potential and breaks Manning's td and passing yard records. (Djax stays healthy for more than 10 games)

Rams become 2nd team ever to win SB in own stadium (Bucs 1st last year)

Houston 1st team that goes 0-17. Week 4 or 5 Watson is traded to Miami for Tua, 2 1st and a 2nd with hidden language in deal regarding Watson legal battles

Miami starts out 2-3. Get Watson, win 10 straight. Media blows over due to the wins. In playoffs Watson is found guilty. Implode ensues

Zeke is of old and rushes for 1500 and 15TDS. Dak throws for 4500 and has 2 1500 yard receivers

Seattle goes back to its roots and becomes a run heavy team with new OC. Only 1 WR breaks 1000 receiving. They support a top 10 def since they are never on the field

Henry doesn't get 1000 yards rushing.... Tennessee becomes pass happy since its always 8 in the box. Julio out performs AJ in every category

Giants are mediocre again (not so bold) and Danny dimes is benched. NYG take qb with their first pick the following year. Line and star players play all 17 games too

Chiefs almost go 16-0 to lose there week 17 game. Get knocked 1st playoff game

Rodgers is the only qb to keep up w/ Stafford. Breaks 5000 yards with 40 tds.

Aaron jones and AJ dillion are both startable every game due to the amount of TDs they get

Devonte Smith starts off slow but finishes just shy of Justin Jefferson's record

Hurts can't be contained. Has 1000 rushing with 4000 passing

Eagles win Division week 18 against Dallas. Have same record going into the game

Stafford Wins MVP/ OPOY

Donald his 4th DPOY

Dak CPOY

Devonte Smith OROY

Jaelon Phillips DROY

• Kyle Pitts has 85 receptions, 850 yards and 10 TDs & wins OROY

• Matthew Stafford wins MVP, throws for 4,700 yards & 40 TDs with just 8 Ints

• finally getting the receptions, Joe Mixon has 51 rec & finishes as the overall PPR RB4.

• JimmyG remains the starter all year, with Lance only playing a Taysom Hill-esque roll for special designed Lance package plays.

• Mostert remains the starter all year while healthy, while Sermon & Hasty mix in. Less will be more for Mostert, who will play 12 very productive games getting 15 touches or fewer, after which it will be a committee of Sermon, Hasty & Jeffery Wilson (after week 8). For the 2nd half of the season, it will be difficult to start any of the Niners RBs for FF purposes as it will be a dart throw RBBC.

• playing from behind & with a cannon arm & just enough rushing to get it done, Zach Wilson will crack the top 12 for FF purposes. Jets fans rejoice, for the future is so bright they have to wear shades (also, Zach single-handed lit brings back the headband, starting a nationwide trend that goes beyond football. Headbands will be everywhere, for every occasion. There will even be fancy headbands for formal affairs)

Some of these are my predictions. Some are merely things I’d like to see. Especially the headband one.

The Detroit Lions are going to shock people with how good they are especially on defense.  This team who everyone thinks is a bottom two team will win 8 plus games even with one of the tougher schedules in football.

At seasons end, the Cowboys defense will be statistically better than Washington’s.

Dak wins MVP and CPOY.

Micah Parsons is DROY and leads the team in sacks with 15.

Gardner Menshew is the starter in Philly by week 6.

AJ Green gets 1,000 yards receiving in ARZ.

Mac Jones is OROY.

Trevor Lawrence reveals that he is indeed an alien but just wants to be treated like everyone else.

• Kyle Pitts has 85 receptions, 850 yards and 10 TDs & wins OROY

You've been putting too much of your sauce on your food, my friend.

If just one of the QB has a decent year, they get OROY.  I would not take Pitts at +1000.  Mac Jones at +500 is a much better bet.
I'm just throwing the info out there. Do with it as you like. I did say it's probably a lock for T-Law, but you're probably correct that the other QBs are contenders.

I might take a look at Zach Wilson, too.

But $20 gets ya $200, so one could theoretically bet $20 on both & double one's odds. If one were an investor, that is.
