Post a song lyric (not all the lyrics, just one line or two) that you absolutely love (2 Viewers)

Mommy, Daddy...Look at me

I went to school and I got a degree

All my friends call it the big D

I went to school and I I got the big D

I got the big D,

I went to school and I got the big D

1) All my friends from school
Introduce me to their spouses
While I'm left standing here
With my hands down the front of my trousers

I just don't know what's to be done
I wonder sometimes how did Dad meet Mum
And how did they conceive of me
Tell me Mary

2) The temptation
To take the precious things we have apart
To see how they work
Must be resisted for they never fit together again

frank black “Calistan”

Used to be sixteen lanes
Used to be Juan Wayne
Used to Mexicain
Used to be Espano Nuevo
Used to Navajo
Used to be yippie-ay-I-don't-know.

Two lines, same song.

High or low... Where'd ya go

Are you stuck in the middle?

A spectral invisible ghost

&

Divisions came and troubles multiplied
Incisions made by scalpel blades of time

I twist the truth, I rule the world, my crown is called deceit
I am the emperor of lies, you grovel at my feet
...
I am the politician, and I decide your fate

Dig to ravage plain in sight.
Dig to horde the hallowed aid.
Praise is cheap but valid's right.
Take your treasure, stand in line.

You do English
I'll do sums
You break fingers
I'll break thumbs
You play Dads
And I'll play Mums
You play glockenspiel
And I'll play drums

Can you help me remember how to smile?
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on Earth did I get so jaded?
Life's mysteries seem so faded

I open my mouth and out pops something spiteful
Words are so cheap, but they can turn out expensive
Words like conviction can turn into a sentence

So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time,
So I can end my TIME with you!

Don't you look so surprised! Happy Birthday fxxxer

when you blow those candles out were going to kick you, kick you.

Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

Once in a while I could show you the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right
I actually opened this thread to post these lyrics, but I know it as Once in a while you get shown the light...  knowing the Dead, they probably sang it in a few ways over the years.   :hifive:

She’s a nice girl, and I like her style but she’s a hunchback

I’m not a pretty guy, got a wooden eye, but she’s a hunchback

I take her to the football game, she’s my little Notre Dame
