I doubt they will have Gadsden block more, at least by a non-trivial amount. But it could result in fewer snaps for him because they want to have TE Fisk (good blocker, 285 lbs) and/or a 6th OL on the field more. That implies fewer routes and possibly fewer targets.
Cool. I respectfully disagree. Excelling with two franchises and failing with zero is a much greater accomplishment to me than exceling with one franchise and failing with two.
Holmgren was head coach for 2 franchises, with winning records for both and taking both franchises to the Super Bowl. Shanahan coached for 3 franchises, and had a losing record with 2 of the 3 and was fired early by both of those franchises (LAR, WAS).
Holmgren reached a Super Bowl twice with...
It should clearly be Belichick. Next for me is Holmgren, in the event they want to make Belichick wait for some reason (which IMO would be silly). I think it is:
Belichick
[Massive gap]
Holmgren
[Substantial gap]
Everyone else
FWIW, here is the Chargers' red zone production so far this season:
Receiving:
Allen - 11 targets, 4/31/3
Johnston - 9 targets, 5/45/3
Gadsden - 9 targets, 5/42/2
McConkey - 8 targets 4/17/2
Vidal - 5 targets, 3/16/1
Tre Harris - 2 targets, 2/14/1
Matlock - 1 target, 1/2/1
Total - 45 targets...
I disagree on Fisk. With Slater and Alt unavailable due to injury, Fisk is probably the best run blocker remaining on the roster. He is also the reserve long snapper and probably would have done a better job than Lovato if the team had used him in that role.
I wouldn’t give Hortiz a pass on Becton. It was well known that he had a considerable injury history, which is why he was available at a (theoretical) bargain price in a later wave of free agency.
Most high quality QBs drafted in the first round have their 5th year option exercised in the offseason after their 3rd season. Then they sign an extension which tacks years onto their current contract starting year 6. The really big money doesn't usually hit until year 6. Yes, they get a signing...
A couple weeks ago higher up on this page, I wrote a post saying that Hortiz has not been as good at drafting as some results suggest, because he has largely ignored the OL (and IDL and Edge). It's not just drafting, it's also free agency. For a team that wants to play like the Chargers, his...
