Are Aliens Visiting Us? (1 Viewer)

The closest galaxy to Earth is 2.5 million light years away. If there is intelligent life somewhere in that galaxy looking at Earth right now, they are seeing what the Earth was like 2.5 million years ago.

Used to be neighbors with several Air Force officers. One day my wife asked one about UFOs. The room got real quiet and the subject was never brought up again.

My buddy flew F16 figher jets for over a decade....they definitely have unexplained phenomenon...most fighter pilots will tell you that. And these guys know the difference between a UFO and a bird and a balloon.

All you have to do is watch the Skinwalker Ranch series to learn everything you need to know. In Episode 3 of Season 4 they REALLY start to zero in on things.

Sighting in Colorado. 12 people saw it, but I have not seen any pics or videos.

Aliens were trying to get to Red Rocks in time for the James Taylor concerts, but there was a huge traffic jam on the Interstellar Highway and they missed the shows. Bummer. They weren't about to stick around for Sarah McLachlan.
Too bad. I hear we're about to be demolished to make way for an interstellar bypass.

Dozens of people see a spacecraft the size of a three story office building, and not one of them takes a photo or video? Sure.

Exactly. We all see how groups of people instantly pull out their cameras to film the most meaningless stuff for the internet and social media. There are no excuses nowadays not to capture it on film unless of course it didn't happen.

What if you can only see it with your naked biological eye, but it's invisible to cameras since it used "technology"?

This is my biggest argument as a skeptic regarding aliens and sightings. First off, I do believe we are not alone. My lady's mom and her family are big into UFO groups and sightings and they are always talking about these occurrences. So my line of questioning is this:

  1. Of all of these unidentified objects and sightings - do you believe these are the same group or are these different groups or beings?
  2. Hard to believe that every one of the sightings you hear about would all be from the same species or planet or whatever.
  3. So on the other hand if there are visitors from this many different places, then why has not one or any of them made more of an effort to make contact with us?
  4. Why are they just passing by and being cryptic with their existence?
It doesn't add up

There’s just too much information/misinformation to come to any conclusion in my opinion.

Are they aliens? Are they from another dimension? Are they from another time?

Did the Nazis find these and we stole them after the war?

Are they an ancient artifacts?

Do you believe that they leave stuff behind for us so they can help us along but still stay out of reach?

Are they just black ops?

Something is going on, but I don’t think it’s necessarily little green men in flying saucers

I do find the Annunaki stuff pretty fascinating. I again blame Ancient Aliens for peaking my interest.

With several billion smart phones and surveillance cameras out there you'd think we'd have some actual footage.

Then again, don't believe humans (as we know them) built the pyramids.

I agree, but to play the Devil's advocate, you know what it's like trying to photograph anything in zoom mode. It's horrific quality. I'd also argue that as somebody who spends a lot of time on the road in public, its not always easy to get your phone out and get quality video under pressure and quickly. Ive seen a lot of weird stuff that I thought I got video of but later when I reviewed it, the camera turned off or I just flat out missed it.

Yep, it's fun fictional entertainment.
Yeah, but also sometimes kinda racist.
There's a new take I've never noticed

Book leaked to hurt sales? Lots of interesting info in the video . Definitely will be getting this :nerd:

This may be better as a separate thread, but if you were provided with irrefutable evidence of aliens visiting our planet, how would your life change?

Personally, I would think that since they are clearly vastly more advanced intellectually and technologically, whatever plan they have in place is already in place, and there's not much I can do about it, even if I'm fully aware of it. So life wouldn't change, although the pointlessness may be slightly more depressing.

I imagine that people that rely on religion to get through their days would have a slightly more difficult time processing the existence of other beings.

This would have little to no impact on my faith. I’ve been a practicing Catholic my whole life and I don’t ever recall being taught that humanity is the one and only.

That being said, I’m not sure I’d want to keep going to work. But that’s a low bar, so….

This is entirely a failure on your part to understand how other people view the world.

well you cant just say something like that and not explain what you mean so i am asking you to explain what you mean take that to the bank brochacho

Civilizations are so rare, and spacetime is so expansive, that the chances of two civilizations existing close enough together in the same place and time to be able to contact one another is essentially 0%.

It does seem like the chances would have been somewhat higher in the distant past, billions of years ago when Wolf-Rayet stars were somewhat more common, and galaxies (which were closer together then) were interacting at higher rates. Still extremely unlikely though, IMO. The whole speed of light thing and all.

My only counter that that is we don’t know what’s possible or real until we discover it. The amount of science and understanding we currently know is vastly outweighed by what we’ve yet to learn. Limitations we currently think we have often turn out to be commonplace in the not too distant future.

This is about as condescending a post as there is.

What a bigoted arrogant statement.
The Judeo/Christian god created man in his own image, right? You don't see how the existence of beings superior to our race would cause some degree of self-doubt amongst those that base their day to day lives on that belief?

So your comments were specifically about Judeo/Christians? Seems even worse than I originally thought, then.

I imagine such a discovery would shock everyone and I'm sure some would curl up in a ball and freak out (theist/agnostic/atheist alike) some will struggle to try and figure out what is going on and some will embrace it and go with the flow. Christians and other theists aren't some segmented group of people foreign to the rest of humanity, they are pretty much a cross section of humanity with varying intelligence and educational levels. There may be some higher %'s of atheists among higher educated and higher intelligence individuals, but it is hardly 100%. Many theists and believers in multiple religions are highly intelligent and successful people with knowledge and logic skills beyond most people.

What's interesting is that your post seems to single out a specific group who you don't seem to understand and indicate that theists are incapable of mentally handling things by both the "rely on religion to get through their days" and "difficult time processing" comments, neither of which are very accurate. Kind of ironic is that you are displaying the same level of simplistic thinking you are accusing the religious of.

Always took that to mean we are spiritual as well as corporeal. Never imagine God having a physical body. Jesus also says “I have other sheep…” so that’s open to a lot of interpretations. I never really concerned myself with it as im still trying to perfect the “love your neighbor” thing.

I provided an example, based on the most common religion that the people on this board are likely to be part of. I believe that overall, the irrefutable proof of aliens would have a more significant impact on the lives of those that believe in a structured existence based on a worldview that places humans at the top of the food chain by divine decree.

Personally, I don't think my life would change much. Can't afford to retire whether it's the government, some super-secret cabal of illuminati or advanced extraterrestrial civilizations in charge.

Who's to say God didn't create them also .
