I live in Portland, OR. forever the national media just assumes Portland is a large suburb of Seattle and we kind of are. We share the same climate, same type of people/geography/cultures. So you see a lot of marketing around here for the Mariners & Seahawks.

However, since I was a boy and first started watching the NFL in the mid 70's I've always disliked the Seahawks. At first they were just a crappy expansion team with low expectations, but they pretty much remained a crappy team for 25-30 years. During that same period of time I became a lifelong Steeler fan and overall a big fan of the NFL in general.

Because of NFL tv rules, Portland was always piped in the Seahawks games on Sundays. So for the same time period where for example the 49'ers had a dynasty, the cowboys had a dynasty, the giants, bears and bills all had really good teams, we never got to see those games. We got to see Seahawks vs Lions. I grew to hate the Seahawks.

here it is 2015 and I still hate the Seahawks. I hope they slide under a gas truck. I hope the Patriots beat them 55-3 and cheat the whole time.

join me in hating the Seahawks here. There's plenty of hate to go around

The problem with hating the Seahawks is that they're playing the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Obviously most of us are rooting for the meteor in this one.

I think part of the reason that BALLGHAZI has gotten so much traction is that it's such a great outcome for Team Meteor. We all get to make fun of the Patriots and troll their fans for two weeks, while simultaneously depriving Carroll, the Seattle players, and the 12th Man of the praise and attention they so desperately crave. It's been a phenomenal effort by the rest of the country to make this happen. Way to go, America. :hifive:

The Seahawks were my 2nd favorite team for a while. It was fun watching them lose creatively with Zorn, Largent and Herrera. I enjoyed the Curt Warner, Cortez Kennedy teams. Hasselback was fun to watch too. Then they hired Carroll -> insta hate. Sherman's just icing on the hate cake. As a Charger fan it's always tough to root for the Pats, particularly in light of how awful most of their fan base on these boards can be when the Pats are the subject of discussion, but I'll be rooting for them on Sunday.

By far my least favorite teams in the league, based in large part on the presence of their fans on this board, but if the meteor strike isn't on the table I think I will be pulling for the Pats.

Actually, I felt dirty just typing that, so I think I will just stick my head in the sand and pretend the game isn't happening.

Tommyboy...your thoughts on Super Bowl XL? The one that was held in Detroit.
was awesome. I was the only Steeler fan in a crowd of 200 people watching the game a movie theater on closed circuit. Lucky I didn't get a beatdown that day, honestly.

As a lifelong Packer fan it's really easy to hate them.

Even before the collapse, the idea that they think they have great fans because they built an acoustically modified stadium, and in fact most of those fans didn't know they had a team 10 years ago..... Sorry, after struggling through the 70's-80's as a Packer fan, nothing riles me more than the fair weather variety they seem to have in abundance.

While there is no shortage of fair weather fans in Seattle, the same can be said of most every team that experiences success, Green Bay included

I hate Seattle and it's mostly because they knocked the Redskins out of the playoffs the last three times the Redskins were there. We don't make the playoffs enough to have 3 losses to just one franchise! Similarly, I hated the Raiders for a long time because I watched them destroy the Redskins in SB XVIII when I was a kid. That hate has declined over the year.

Also, RG3 declining while Wilson continues to be successful is an added piece of hate/envy towards Seattle. I'm really trying to hate Wilson, but he's a hard guy to hate. Add in that he's from Virginia and it's even harder.

They have a bunch of whiny fans (you lost, the Steelers won, get over it!) But despite that, how any true Steelers fan could root for New England is beyond my understanding.

Granted, and the Green Bay fans who don't know who Lynn Dickey are fall into the same boat with me. What can I say, I tend to hold grudges that way.

Bravo tommyboy, I'm kinda surprised this thread wasn't created sooner. But I am on board as well for the meteor strike occurrence. Couldn't be 2 more hated teams playing. And as far as the Steelers beating Seattle in super bowl, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that wasn't a referee running 75 yards for a td & pretty sure it was hines ward throwing TD not a ref. But that is all seawhine fans can hang their hat on, blame the refs!!!! And this 12th man garbage, um how many people were gone before packer game was over....OK I'm done....for now....

I rooted for them last year and was happy when they won. But Richard Sherman annoys the hell out of me. And so does Marshawn Lynch. And they were gifted a Super Bowl appearance this season, so I think it should taint any eventual repeat. Unfortunately, I also hate the Patriots. Definite Hater Bowl situation this season. I'm just going to sit and watch and hate.

I'm paying my secretary $50 to dye her hair in Patriot colors Friday, just to piss of all the stupid seahawk bandwagoners in the office.

Speaking of "gifted", my "gift progression theory" states that each "gifted" team loses their next game. Dallas got gifted vs Detroit & then lost, Green Bay got gifted vs Dallas & then lost, and Seattle got gifted vs Green Bay and thus loses.

I hate to blow-up the Gift Progression Theory, but the Pats were just as "gifted" with their win over the Ravens as the Seahawks were "gifted" with their win over The Pack. The gifted Pats then destroyed the Colts their next game.

Maybe GPT is an NFC thing.

Well that's because the Colts suck.

Could argue the Peyton tank job was a bigger gift than the Pats were handed that week

But imo the more logical explination is that the Detroit/Dallas ref was a Pats plant setting up an NFC chain reaction of "pay the win forward" with the result of New England winning the Superbowl. Because the Patriots are cheaters.

I had honest dislike for the 10-years-ago seahawks (mostly bc of Jerramy Stephens and Holmgren) But I like this Seattle team. Defense is nasty, and I <3 Lynch and Sherman.

I will be cheering for them on sunday because fukcaWholePileOfThePatriots.

Congratulations, you just won this thread

Don't care about the team one way or the other. The team won't be what it is now forever by design so I don't see the point in team hate, especially in the NFL. However, I would certainly enjoy the insta-fanbase be disappointed, though I don't think they would care honestly. Who I feel bad for is all the real Seahawk fans being lumped in with the toolboxes.

What exactly is Lynch fighting against? The Man? I saw the "I'm only here so I won't get fined" answers on Sportscenter last night, then there were a couple of commercials with Lynch. :loco:

Lynch might be smarter than all of us. We saw how hard Sherman has worked to get the spotlight on him, Lynch now has an even bigger spotlight for not nearly the effort

Count me as Team Asteroid, but I hate to see the city of Glendale toasted. Saw something this am on Dan Patrick from Rodney Harrison about Lynch. He says Lynch should be speaking bc black people didn't have a voice many years ago, which I think is right on. Lynch might be doing alot to help his charities in Oakland if he brought up the problems they face daily. Lynch may never have a bigger platform. However, with that being said, I do like him letting his actions on the field speak for him too.

I feel like it takes a lot of effort to be that stubborn. He's almost seething in some of those interviews, upbraiding reporters for even bothering to show up and ask questions. Probably spends a lot of time wondering what his next one-sentence, repetitious response will be, what he's going to wear and what pose he's going to strike for the cameras. Hell, the whole thing is a pose. Must be as boring and exhausting for him as it is for the reporters.

FYP

I dont give a damn if seattle ever wins or loses, but i like football, so i like to watch seattle play. I guess i like GOOD football.

Much rather watch seattle than the jags or rams or some crap.

now I'm hoping just eh entire Seahawks team gets the measles epidemic that's hitting Arizona right now

That pretty much sums up and mirrors my hatred for the Broncos.

Now living in Seattle I won't be able to stand another year of this if the Seahawks win.

And I don't understand the defending of Meshawn grabbing his crotch and refusing to talk to the media. It would piss me off if he were on my team, but here they think acting like a 6 year old is wonderfully funny.
