Jackson to start if Lynch, Thomas can't Fred Jackson will likely start if Marshawn Lynch (high ankle sprain) and Anthony Thomas (strained calf) can't.Lynch isn't expected to play, and Thomas' status will likely be updated today. Jackson saw a significant action once Thomas went down in Week 12, receiving ten touches to rookie Dwayne Wright's zero. Jackson would face a solid Redskins rush defense, making him an RB2 at best. Jackson is getting alot of love from Bills fans. Apparently this guy is pretty tough. This late in the season Im not sure you will find a possible one week hit like this one. PPR leagues this guy could be gold albeit for only one week.

Any Homers have any opinios about what youve seen so far?

I love this kid, I'm a Buffalo homer. I would love to see him in there all game and phase out Thomas and get Dwayne Wright the ball too.

Bills | Jackson expected to start Week 13

Wed, 28 Nov 2007 15:29:34 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson is expected to start Week 13 because of the injuries to RB Marshawn Lynch (ankle) and RB Anthony Thomas (calf).

Rock Chalk, Kohawk

Anybody that goes from 2-time MVP of the IIAC* and co-MVP of the UIF** to starting RB in the NFL deserves much respect.

*Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference - wtf, you're not including D-III schools like Coe College in your annual scouting trips?

**United Indoor Football; probably NOT on your local cable lineup

Fred Jackson is $$$.

He tore it up in the pre-season.

We profiled him the other week in the Dynasty Watch as well.

Great prospect.

Bills | Jackson may see a lot of carries Week 13

Mon, 26 Nov 2007 12:25:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson may see the bulk of the carries Week 13 if RB Anthony Thomas (calf) is slow to recover from his calf injury. Jackson replaced Thomas Week 12 when he left with his injury.

RB Fred Jackson saw the most extensive playing time of his brief career with five carries for 18 yards and five receptions for 47 yards. 11/25/2007

2006....

So far in the preseason, however, he's been a revelation for the Bills' disappointing offense. The former United Indoor Football League MVP added 51 yards and a 17-yard touchdown on eight carries during Buffalo's exhibition debut in New Orleans, piquing the interest of some followers of the team. However, that excitement was quelled after a nine-carry, 22-yard effort in Week 2 of the preseason, a 13-10 defeat to Atlanta.

Last week, though the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder dazzled in the second half of a loss to the Titans, accruing 31 yards and a touchdown on four rushes and another 80 yards on a quartet of receptions. Jackson's most impressive play, a 43-yard catch and carry, came after backup quarterback Trent Edwards found him on a short route over the middle. Jackson caught the pass, broke multiple tackles and sped past Tennessee defenders down the sideline en route to the Bills' third-biggest gain of the night.

He did great in the preseason. Looked good last week with a 60 yard catch and run. This kid has alot of heart and is better than Wright/Thomas (both of whom I have soured on). He won't unseat Jackson but he's a nice start this week :goodposting:

Jackson looked very good in the preseason.

With Lynch and Thomas not practacing and possibly not playing could FJ have some sneaky value for a week or two at crunch time?

Fred Jackson: Could Get a Shot This Weekend

RotoWire

Update: The Bills will likely turn toward Jackson if Marshawn Lynch and Anthony Thomas, both hobbled by leg injuries, are unable to play against the Redskins on Sunday, The Buffalo News reports.

Recommendation: Pay attention to the other two running backs if you're looking for an emergency pickup this week. Lynch doesn't look like he's going to play, and Thomas is up in the air. Jackson would probably share some carries with Dwayne Wright if the other two were out, but he could be in line for 18-25 carries if things fall his way. In any matter, he's flown past Wright on the depth chart.

I think he is a solid WW pickup.

I was impressed with his play last week.

He could emerge as the permanent #2 option in Buffalo,

which would be worth a roster spot in most medium to deep dynasty leagues.

I grabbed him. Had 47 yards receiving last week, which bodes well.

I think for desperate teams, like myself (LJ, Marshawn, Portis, Chris Brown), it's the only move for guys that are almost definitely on the WW.

Just got the text from ESPN that A-Train is out indefinitely with a torn calf muscle.

Anyone know anything about him? Any chance Lynch is out past this week cause Buffalo has a sweet playoff schedule. I would have to drop Chatman or C Taylor for him and am actually considering it as a 5th rb.

Via Rotoworld:

The Bills revealed Thursday that Anthony Thomas has a torn muscle near the top of his calf and behind his knee.

"He's very sore and it's swollen," coach **** Jauron said of Thomas, who has not practiced this week. It sounds like the A-Train is out indefinitely, so Fred Jackson slides up the depth chart and will start Sunday. If Marshawn Lynch (ankle) is eased back into action in Week 14, Jackson could share carries with him. Jackson should be owned in 12-team leagues. Nov. 29 - 2:19 pm et

Picked him up in case the Denver cluster**** isn't sorted out.

His matchup doesn't look so great this week. I haven't heard much about Lynch lately. I know he's out this week, but isn't he likely to return pretty soon?

Probably, but who knows how the Redskins will react, and Graham owned them last week. I probably won't start him, but IF Lynch is out for an extended period, their playoff schedule is very good. I doubt Lynch will miss that much time, tho.

Sorry missed this thread before posting

here is an update

Bills RB Thomas out indefinitely with torn calf muscle

Associated Press, Updated 1 hour ago STORY TOOLS:

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - Veteran reserve Anthony Thomas is out indefinitely with a torn calf muscle, likely leaving the Bills with two inexperienced running backs for their game at Washington on Sunday.

Coach **** Jauron revealed the severity of Thomas' injury for the first time Thursday, but declined to rule out the player for the rest of the season. Jauron added Thomas is not expected to require surgery. He was hurt in a 36-14 loss at Jacksonville last weekend.

Thomas was briefly spotted after practice in the trainer's room walking on crutches and favoring his right leg. The seven-year veteran has 89 yards rushing this season and has been predominantly used in third-down situations and as a backup to rookie starter Marshawn Lynch.

Lynch is still recovering from a sprained left ankle and expected to miss his third straight game this weekend. That leaves Buffalo (5-6) with two unproven running backs: Fred Jackson, who is likely to start, and rookie fourth-round draft pick Dwayne Wright.

Jackson, an undrafted free agent who spent his rookie season on the Bills' practice squad last year, has nine carries for 34 yards and eight catches for 55 yards in three games this season. Wright has 26 carries for 77 yards and three catches for 17 yards, while being active in all 11 games this year.

"It's a great opportunity for me," said Jackson, who had 18 yards rushing and added five catches for 47 yards against the Jaguars. "To go out and play against a team like Jacksonville and go out and do some of the things I was able to do ... it was a great building block for me, so I'm looking forward. This is the next step."

Jackson had spent the past few years playing in NFL Europa and the United Indoor Football League since completing his college career at Division III Coe College in 2002.

Starting defensive end Chris Kelsay (sprained left ankle) is also expected to miss Sunday's game. Kelsay, who was hurt against the Jaguars, still wore a protective boot as he watched practice from the sideline.

Lynch, reserve linebacker Coy Wire (neck) and reserve cornerback Jerametrius Butler (calf) also did not practice.

I was desperate for a RB after Benson went down, and RW as well. A couple of guys missed their waiver deadlines and I had Jackson fall to me, and I scooped up immediately. I have to start him this week, in a must win to get into the playoffs.

What is everybody expecting from this guy, does he have a chance to have a decent game? Maybe sneak in a TD?

I see he caught 5 balls last week, I am in a PPR league.

I grabbed him as well.....

dont need him this week but just in case Lynch and A-Train are still gimpy around playoff time he has Miami & Cleveland..

so you never know..

With options like LJ, Ahman, Ricky... I'm on the Freddy bandwagon. Here's to hoping Edwards likes his checkdown options all day.

I have to choose between Dayne and F. Jackson this week. If A. Green is active or Haynesworth starts for Tennessee, I will probably roll the dice with Jackson instead of going with Dayne. I also have Ahman, but I will not start him if he's active.

My options Kolby Smith,Fargas and Fjax with division title on the line. Looks like a game day decision pending pracitce and injury reports. :goodposting:

Personally, I don't see how you can start Jackson over Smith or Fargas at this point. Not that those two guys are studs by any stretch, but we at least know they're going to be the primary ball carriers for their respective teams. Sure, we've been told that Jackson is getting the start, but it's not as though the Redskins are a great match-up on paper and do we really have a good idea how much Wright is going to be used in this game? Although it appears Jackson is getting the start, I could see the Bills rotating Wright in quite a bit and eventually give more carries to the hotter back as the game goes on. However, I do expect Jackson to play on third downs and pick-up a fair share of catches out of the backfield; probably 4-6 receptions. This is all speculation of course. But if I had Smith or Fargas on my team, I'd be starting either of those guys over Jackson. I think they are safer plays to get 15 touches, and thus their ceiling is also higher imo. Good luck.

Torn between Jackson and LenDale White. White hasn't done much of anything the last 3 weeks, but has a nice matchup at home. Of course, his value comes from getting 25-30 carries and if Houston gets up early, Brown will probably see more action. Jackson doesn't have the best matchup, and Wright might steal some looks, but at this point in the season sometimes a dice roll is what's needed in these situations!

Picked up Fred even though I am out of the playoffs (barring a miracle). The SP has put me a day ahead of everyone else.

Well, the latest is that Lynch practiced today, any chance that Lynch plays Sunday? God, i hope not, i actually HAVE to start Jackson, I have no choice.

Jackson is starting, and I wouldn't expect too much from him. Hard to say how the Redskins will repond today, but my guess is that, at the very least, the defense plays well.

151 total yards, great performance from FJax.
Watched the entire game. Kid looked good. Redskins were pumped up on defense yet he still found plenty of room. Add on to this the fact that Edwards was ineffective. I'm glad I nabbed him in a few dynasties.
He looked good enough to hold in dynasty even when Lynch does come back?

He is facing a very bad Miami defense who will be without Zack Taylor and it should be a snow/cold game which Miami plays terrible in. He is getting strong consideration by myself to play him along side of Ryan Grant and to leave Travis Henry and Willie Parker on my Bench. hoping Lynch will be out!

I thought lynch was going to be playing this week?
