Multiple sources tell 2 On Your Side that the Buffalo Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident involving a car registered to Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch.

Sources close to the situation say it's still unclear if Lynch was driving the car or whether he was even in the vehicle at the time of Saturday's 3:30 a.m. accident.

According to them, Lynch's car hit a female pedestrian at the corner of Delaware and Chippewa Streets.

Several staff members of a nearby bar tell us they saw a woman lying in the street for approximately 15 minutes, but they say the woman eventually got up under her own power and walked to an awaiting ambulance.

Buffalo Police Spokesman Mike DeGeorge would not confirm any of these specifics. Instead, he would only say that the department is aware of the incident and is actively investigating.

A Bills spokesman says the team is declining to comment. However, he says Lynch's attorney is out of town and will address the situation when he returns.

who knows where this will lead. I hope it is nothing more than a misunderstanding. I posted the link for those that want to follow this story. This article has been updated at least once already.

Doesn't matter. In Florida there's a steadfast rule that if you pull a gun on someone it's a minimum of 10 years in prison. I believe it was Sean Taylor who did it in South Florida and didn't miss a game.

Drunk kids get hit at that intersection all the time. Especially on a Saturday night. It was just some stupid drunk girl crossing without looking, more than likely. But, as a Fred Jackson owner in a dynasty league

Perhaps it's the cynic in me, but I believe someone with as much money as Marshawn Lynch has (and who stands to get as much more money as Marshawn Lynch stands to get) should have no trouble getting someone to take the fall for him, provided it goes that far.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks can be deceiving, but I can't help thinking that Lynch has the thug look down a little too well.

He's got plenty of "street" in him, but he's not a thug.

I don't know the guy and I don't judge only off of looks, so I'll take your word for it. He just looks a little 'unrefined', but like I said, looks can be deceiving.

is hit & run* a felony, aside from severity of injury? if so, i wonder if that would be suspension-worthy...

even if it was a felony, maybe he could get it plea-bargained...

it sounds like an inverstigation at this point, & he hasn't been charged yet...

another question would be, in some states (like NY), can you be charged if a crime was committed with your car, even if you weren't in it?

* i think it is much more serious to (allegedly) hit & injure somebody & leave the scene, as opposed to leaving the scene of an accident in which no other car is struck or person injured (like lance briggs)...

It's amazing how much a chauffeur costs though. Not even Paris Hilton can afford one...Boneheads.

"thug look"???That's a racist comment. I guess being black is part of your criteria for "thug look"? would you ever say a white athlete has the thug look? if so, name one. Or name the characteristics that give Marshawn the thug look.

If noone SAW Lynch driving I serious doubt Lynch gets the blame! One of his entourage will take da fall here. If someopne saw it I wonder how it will they might spin it to inimize Lynchs punishment.

Either way I look at it as

Min.. it goes under the rug shortly and another person was driving or takes the blame.

Max - Probation and 4-8 game Suspension for him..

Apparently this is an intersection known fo drunk people walking and getting hit by cars :dunno: Since noone in Lynch's camp is talking makes me think He is guilty and was driving and is trying to line up an alibi. Since he didn't stop he was likely drunk himself - if he wasn't WTF wouldn't he stop to makes sure the chick is okay?

Way to lend a hand guys...were they just staring at her lying motionless from the bar for 15 minutes??? And to boot, she had to get up and walk to the waiting ambulance?? EMS down?

Given the area where this took place, I'm sure there were several cops there immediately after it happened so there was no need for bystanders to intervene. They probably had her lay there until the paramedics arrived to check her out, although maybe she was knocked unconscious. Also, by her walking to the ambulance on her own power I assume that just means the paramedics didn't need to carry her there and is a sign that she probably wasn't hurt too badly.

I loved the Speed Racer song when I was a kid. Really Dude!

Lynch needs to be careful here. There are cameras downtown that might have his picture driving. This might be a case of the cover-up being worse than the crime, if he lies to the police, and they have evidence of him being the driver. I doubt he was speeding and if he was drunk no one will know it now, so he should just say the woman appeared out of no where and he hit her. Of course, he;d still have to explain why he drove off.

Michael Caffery, Lynch's Buffalo-based lawyer, declined comment and also told The Associated Press he has advised his client not to speak publicly about the investigation. Caffery added he had just returned to Buffalo early Monday after being out of town.

Lynch, the Bills 2007 first-round draft pick out of California, has been in town taking part in a series of voluntary team practices, which resume Tuesday morning.

A female pedestrian, whom police have not identified, was treated and released from hospital after being struck while crossing an intersection near the city's downtown bar district.

Police have impounded the vehicle registered to Lynch, and discovered it has some front-end damage, DeGeorge said.

He said a police surveillance camera at the intersection was operational, but wouldn't say whether it filmed the accident.

According to a police accident report submitted by officer Edwin Torres, the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by the right-front corner of the vehicle, which was attempting to complete a left turn. The report noted the vehicle sustained most damage to its right-front quarter-panel.

The report also said a broken piece of the vehicle was recovered at the scene and kept as evidence.

 Boy, I can't imagine front damage when a ped walked to the ambulance on her own. Lucky it wasn't worse.

It doesn't make sense. "Most of the damage was to the right front quarter panel." "A broken piece of the car was left behind." I guess the car could have hit one big tough woman, but pedestrians who walk away generally don't break pieces off of cars and do most of their damage to a quarter panel.

Something weird about all this.

Has Lynch still not made a public statement, at least through a representative? This is poor PR handing of a crisis at a minimum.

Bills running back Marshawn Lynch is in attendance at Tuesday's OTA workout with his Bills teammates. No word on whether Lynch will comment on his vehicle which was involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident over the weekend in downtown Buffalo.

Buffalo Police are continuing their investigation. There is no word as to whether or not Lynch was driving the vehicle when the incident occurred.

Lynch's attorney Michael Caffery issued a prepared statement at the close of practice today. It read as follows.

As you are aware, I represent Marshawn T. Lynch. The Buffalo Police Department is still investigating this matter. At the present time, I decline to make any comment on behalf of my client. I have also instructed my client not to make any comment.

Lynch did not speak to reporters at the close of practice. Teammate Trent Edwards when asked about Lynch's focus during practice today in light of the recent events said the Bills running back was performing as he always does on the field.

"Marshawn is always going to be light on his feet and always have a good time out there," said Edwards. "That's why it's enjoyable to play with a guy like that. It's always fun to have a guy that when you put the football down he's going to play hard."

Is Marshawn married or engaged? I find it laughable how half the people don't think he was in the vehicle. If he's not married, who the hell would be driving his car? I don't hand off my keys to all my friends and let them drive my Mercedes. Is this common practice, lending out your car to people? Wouldn't the chances of the owner driving their own car be somewhere around 95+% ???

well, I'll say this, and it's only a matter of opinion. Usually the attorney spews some "after the facts are revealed we will find my client is innocent of any wrong doing."

The fact that the attorney isn't speaking and he has advised Lynch to be quiet is cause for concern. You would think Lynch would say "I haven't done anything wrong, it wasn't me."

This is trouble for Lynch, no doubt.

It seems to be with pro athletes.

Summary: "we acknowledge the police investigation into the alleged incident; no comment."That's playing this very, very close to the vest, which implies to me that Lynch was at the wheel. If he wasn't you'd be shouting from the tree tops (as you've seen done before) that it was one of his posse or whoever who was driving and not him.

I'm not predicting any outcome, but that's what this non-statement says to me.
