OK, here's what I heard re: Kolb: It looks like the deal will be DRC and a 3rd round pick for Kolb. That 3rd can turn into a 2nd if Kolb hits certain numbers (my buddy was not sure what those numbers are, he is not a part of the negoiations). He THINKS the deal will be done Thursday, but right now ARI is trying to get a long term deal signed. That is what is holding things up.
 Thanks DH.

Which would make sense. It shocks me that every media outlet has yet to even mention the contract negotiation as a reason why this has taken this long.

FYI, the eagles website had a DRC jersey for sale until they realized their mistake and took it down. Looks like its a matter of time...

I respect GKing, but if the Kolb deal was "already done" before this week it would have been consummated yesterday. It may still happen but it is clear there was no agreement. Just sayin.
So probably no use in me even stating that I also know 90% of the contract details?Again, the deal was "already done" and there was an agreement. It just had to be put on paper. I'm starting to learn that it's just better to keep #### to yourself...

So can you tell us the exact compensation? DRC and a 2nd?

G King shouldn't go there and you shouldn't be asking................it will get done and we will all know the "particulars" when it legitimately happens.

Now Noel Devine signs with us...very intersting competition at RB indeed! LOVE it!
:thumbup:Kick returner will be is roster position, but I could see him easily getting 2-3 touches a game next year. There is just no reason not to a la Danny Woodhead. You can bookmarket the Eagles faithful gushing over him by week 6

what are the odds Desean Jackson holds out? anybody wiht any knowledge on this? How much would the offense suffer without him? I would think McCoy, Vick, and Maclin could carry us for a short time without him but I am concerned about our prospects for the year if DJax decides to not particpate....
DJax should hold out ...well, report to camp, participate in non-contact and get his new contract. He is sched to make like 500k, thats just a joke. We dont want another Westbrook mid season contract debacle like 5 years ago

A little dissapointed so far that the Eagles have not been in on some of the rumored signees they were going to pick up. Whether it be they are too busy signing drafted rookies and UDFA along with the Kolb trade I don't know. Hopefully they can get Babin in the fold. The Eagles are very smart when it comes to FA but as fan who doesn't know any better I want to see some action!

First off, I want to thank guys like GKing and DH who give us as much information as they can. I for one, and I know there are many others, who log on to see if you guys have posted, as you definitely have insider information, and I'm grateful you share it.

Secondly, it seems as though the Eagles are letting the high price guys go. As much as I really thought Bush in our backfield with McCoy could be nasty, picking up Devine may be as much of a scatback as we need. Also, I have no problem letting Cooper and Lewis fight over the left overs at the HB position.

I still feel we could use some LBs, a DE, and some experience as a safety. Offensively, we need to get some more bodies for the offensive line. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the guys we let walk (e.g. Bradley, Max-Jean, etc) make it back into the picture.

I think today we'll see the Kolb trade finalized and we'll start to see what the Eagles are going to do (as the cuts come in from other teams). No reason to spend draft picks if there's going to be good guys available to pick up, without the cost of draft picks. With the new rookie wage scale, the draft picks are extremely valuable imho, so we need to keep them...

looks like we signed babin, kind of mixed on this cuase he sucked last time he was here. But the DLine coach should help lots / our DE unit should be a little better / Who projects to start at safety for us?

Disagree, he should stop being a child and be patient. Unless I'm mistaken, they couldn't give him a new contract until a couple days ago. Last season he couldn't get the contract he wanted because of the language of the expiring CBA and the 30% rule. Then there was the lockout and waiting for a new CBA. With the league finally in motion, the team has bigger priorities, like getting the rookies into camp, trading Kolb and getting any FAs in house. I'd be shocked if he wasn't taken care of, or at least heavy talks in that direction, within a week or two. But now that's he's being a selfish brat, all bets are off.

I would have preferred Edwards but Babin SHOULD be an upgrade at LDE. If Washburn can get him to play like he did last year we should have a nice set of DE's

I disagree. He's made it clear that he is unhappy since before last year. He has been patient waiting out the lockout. He hasn't made a peep about it either last year or this year. He didn't holdout last season either. Now that he can get something done, he may be getting pushed aside like you said for rookies and FA's. He doesn't want to hear that after waiting over a year patiently to get his. The Eagles can do many things at once. Getting Desean what he's owed should be a top priority since he is your #1 playmaker.

With you guys on this one. We had him once before and let him go so they obviously weren't too impressed with him before. Maybe Washburn loved the guy.ETA: 5 year deal, 28M (5-6M guarenteed). Nice for Philly at those numbers.

Guess our disagreement really is him waiting patiently. At the same time you said he made it known he wasn't happy with his contract, how is that waiting patiently? And do you think they should have given him a new contract immediately after his rookie season? Has that ever happened? Eagles hands were tied until a few days ago. He needs to learn he isn't bigger than the team. If a week or 2 went by and he still wasn't taken care of, I'd have less issue with him holding out or making it public. But right off the bat before they have a chance? It's just a selfish punk move.Basically, he got screwed by the timing of the CBA, not the Eagles.

With you guys on this one. We had him once before and let him go so they obviously weren't too impressed with him before. Maybe Washburn loved the guy.
When we had before, he was just used as depth, played in only 12 games (starting none), and I remember he played hard and even got 2.5 sacks in very limited time. Then he goes to the Titans and has 12.5 sacks under Washburn. Babin has said that Washburn is the best DLine coach he has ever played for and is probably the main reason Babin signed with the Eagles. I think Babin was drafted in the first round because he had the physical tools to be successful, but was a disappointment because he never learned to play the game. Last year, under Washburn, he finally learned how to play. I think this is a very smart move by the Eagles.

And to his credit he didn't play much here the first time around either. With this numbers and extensions likely for Jackson and Vick it makes sense. They need to keep at it though. I don't know what's out there LBer wise but we need at LEAST one.

He also spent a pretty significant amount of years playing OLB for 3-4 teams. I remember when he signed here he said it was great to finally be a DE again.

Andy loves acquiring defensive ends, it's almost like his hobby.

Frankly this move is fine, I guess, but $6mm per for a guy that was a one-year wonder? Risky. They obviously have a lot of faith in Washburn and that scheme. We'll see.

Overall I'm starting to get a bit nervous. Heard all offseason about how Philadelphia had a plan, was going to be aggressive, that things would be about winning now. So far we've re-signed a guy we viewed expandable, told the world we're not going to re-sign any of our own UFAs, and appear stuck in a quagmire on Kolb even though it was supposedly a 'done deal.'

In what way will Babin be expanded? :) He may be a one-year wonder, but that year was the most recent year and the only year he played under Washburn. I think his production is more likely to be like last year than what it was his first six years in the league. At least I hope so.

With all due respect Jason, we do this same song and dance every year. Every year it's 'oh no, they didn't get *insert high profile FA here*, we're doomed!' Every year the Eagles put up 9-11 wins and add another playoff apperance or NFC East title.Keep in mind, this is coming from a Chicago Bears fan. Success wise, the teams have had similar runs the past ten years (yes, the Eagles have been the better team most of that time), so I understand your frustration. That being said, at least the Eagles are doing something this off season. They just got Babin, they're about to add DRC (and a nice pick), and I'll bet dollars to donuts that they'll re-sign Bradley and MJG. I'll also be willing to wager they'll grab a Safety in the near future. That ain't bad so far.

I feel the Babin signing was a good one. Only 5-6 million guaranteed, so we have a guy to dill in and Graham can show what he brings in the second half of the season. I feel ray Edwards wanted too much, so the eagles passed on him. Sign Vick and djax to a contract extension. We still need some LBer help, but that will come as guys get cut, Bradley might be back.

As for Kolb I believe the deal was done but they are working on his contract which is taking a bit longer... Not too worried, and give the Eagles until the weekend to see what happens...

Rumor on Giants website Big Blue Interactive, is the Eagles will be announcing a deal with MLB Stephen Tulloch shortly.

Rotoworld

The Lions have reportedly dropped out of the running for free agent MLB Stephen Tulloch.

Tulloch should've taken Detroit's $6 million-a-year offer with $10 million guaranteed when he had the opportunity. We wouldn't expect him to get more elsewhere. The Lions moved on when they were able to secure Justin Durant late Wednesday night. The Eagles have some interest, and they just got some leverage. Jul 28, 10:10 AM

Kevin Kolb - QB - Eagles

Kevin Kolb's agent is working on a new contract with the Cardinals, according to WIP Radio's Howard Eskin.

The terms of this trade have likely already been decided and now the Cardinals just have to hammer out an extension with Kolb. We're expecting an official announcement on the trade as soon as today, with the Eagles landing Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie plus a draft pick.

DH, no one said it was panic time. I've more often than not been the guy praising the Eagles to others on this thread, and reminding them of how good we've had it. I'm just saying that somewhere a circuit got disconnected this year. Usually the Eagles balance the now with the future, but lots of reports suggested they were going to be aggressive for THIS YEAR, which was music to all our ears. Now if we end up with DRC, sign a LB, add a safety, etc...then of course it's all good. I'm just jittery. Eagles generally are aggressive at the open of free agency, they usually have one or two guys they covet, go out and sign them quickly. Has me thinking we were eyeing a few guys that went elsewhere.Luckily there are plenty of other valuable pieces left on the game board.

:goodposting: :goodposting: Same whining every year but they put up a perennial playoff caliber team. I like how the Eagles don't overpay unless they LOVE someone. That's why we're constantly in good cap space condition. If we signed every free agent that fans wanted last year, we'd end up like the cowboys...I like both DRC > Aso because of age and money. I like Babin > Edwards because of money.

:lmao:Have we entered Bizarro World? You guys are acting like we all don't know each other and our leanings. For years I was accused of being an Andy Reid (and McNabb) apologist around here and now that I say I'm nervous and antsy, it's "whining every year?" :lmao: Way to overgeneralize all fans as one entity.

:lmao: at the report of Kolb wanting 30 million guaranteed. Why so low? Why not just ask for 500 million?
Just for speculation purposes, what if the Eagles already had some kind of verbal commitment on his new contract done months ago; and what if Arizona knew what it was and exactly what they had to pay him to get this deal done months ago; and what if everyone involved were on board months ago? Again just speaking hypothetically. But could there be any chance of such a thing happening?

Am I the only one concerned that we do not seem to be targeting more on the OL? Preferably a RT?
Staff trusts Justice more than fans do. They may look for cheap depth but I don't think they'll replace Justice.
I just fin it interesting that when Reid was asked about the OL he said something to the effect of Justice is the RT if his knee is OK. With a guy like Colon out there I wasn't sure if they would take a shot on him.
