Hello,
I've been running fantasy football leagues for 20 years now. I started back in 1995 with ten lieutenants attending the Officer Basic Course. The first year, it was weekly newsletters using USA Today sports page. And then, I designed websites and uploaded reports using First Place Sports software. And finally, the leagues started using MFL about 10 years ago. Over the years the number of leagues has grown to 14 leagues and I participate in half of them. There have been ocassional disputes (usually dealing with trades) but nothing major. That's the history of the UFFL Leagues.
About me, I am a recently retired Army Officer and just started a new career. I don't run these leagues for profit, never have. I do it because the owners enjoy the competition and it allows me to stay in touch with friends I've made over the years to include a few family members and military friends. I've met guys in the leagues and have even been to a few weddings. My owners know me.
With that said, it saddens me to hear about the Phenoms issue but I am not surprised as there seems to be a major fantasy sports site do this every year and screw people out of prize money right before the holidays. I just feel awful for those who had their trust in someone broken. I'm sure many folks will no longer play fantasy football because of this.
Anyway, for those of you looking for a trully legitimate league, I plan on starting six new non-IDP dynasty leagues this year. They will replace six current redraft leagues so I will run the same number of leagues. The first year the entry fee will be small so folks can see this isn't a scam. I'm thinking $25, $50 the 2nd year, and $75 the 3rd year.
I know it's hard to trust anyone nowadays but I've never had an issue making payments and on time. Promises can be cheap nowadays but I have strong values and will never allow myself to rip a group of people off or even one person. I am not a ghost. I live in Colorado Springs and work on Peterson AFB.
I do not use LeagueSafe. I proposed it to the current owners two years ago but it did not pass in any of the leagues. I'm sure they are a legitimate company but I only trust one person to hold other people's money. I keep the entry fees separate in a PayPal account all year. I do not and will never need to withdraw any of this money for any reason.
The rules will be thorough and available in the next week or so. Just gauging interest at this time.
If you're looking to join a dynasty league next year with someone who runs leagues just for the enjoyment and not for profit, send me a PM or e-mail at Torreano@aol.com or david.torreano@gmail.com. I'll add you to the potential owner list and we'll go from there.
You can also reply in this thread if you have any questions.
Thanks for your time and happy holidays!
