2024 Detroit Lions 7-1: Lions "Whack the Pack" (28 Viewers)

Odds for pick #29:
  • T/C Graham Barton Duke +500
  • CB Kool Aid McKinstry Alabama +700
  • S Tyler Nubin Minnesota +700
  • ED Chop Robinson Penn State +800
  • WR Xavier Legette South Carolina +1000
  • WR Adonai Mitchell Texas +1000
  • CB Kamari Lassiter Georgia +1500
  • ED Darius Robinson Missouri +1500

It looks like they are extending St. Brown to a $115 million deal, but I don't think the terms have been disclosed. Hopefully it is a 5 year deal, but I think it is for 4.

That was a projection from a Bleacher Report writer, I not think there is really any validity to it.

I'm not saying he should be the pick but koolaid at +700 might be the one I would bet on. Holmes attended the Bama pro day and has been linked to this pick for awhile.

With Brad it is hard to predict. Their draft board is different than others. If they Edge Rusher or Offensive Lineman who they have an ultra high grade on, they will snatcb him up. Odds are someone they are really high on will slip.

My biggest bet would be that Detroit doesn't actually pick at 29. Brad seems to like to move around a lot.

I didn't see any odds on that but it could well be among the most likely scenarios.

he made 6 trades during last season's draft

I would be onboard with moving up to pick Terrion Arnold. I feel better about our CB position, but we clearly don't have any elite CBs.

Hopefully Brad can work his magic once again and get a couple more PB caliber players. Will be a bit more difficult with less draft capitol.

Round 1: No. 29 overall
Round 2: No. 61
Round 3: No. 73 (from Minnesota)
Round 3: No. 92
Round 5: No. 164
Round 6: No. 201 (from Tampa Bay)
Round 6: No. 205
Round 7: No. 249

To me this is a very deep draft. I think we could package up out late round picks and get something in the mid 4th round. There are going to be some good players fall. One thing for certain, Brad will make some moves, and it won't take any time for him to get his pick in. The man prepares and knows what he wants.

One more post in the bradbot bandwagon brigade. While #29 and later isn't ideal, it's not impossible to find solid starters at that point and beyond.

#34 Sam LaPorta
#45 Brian Branch
#72 Alim McNeil
#97 Kirby Joseph
#101 Iffy Melifonwu
#112 Amon St. Brown

I saw Theo Day play in HS a few times, he was on the same HS team as Hutch. Hardly noticed Hutch but Day was the best HS QB I ever saw play. 6-4, rocket arm and a great runner. Was very surprised his college career never really took off.

Drove by the draft area yesterday. I know it will be done perfect by draft day but seems like they still have quite a bit of loose ends to tie up around the area.

They will have to block off the streets around the area as it is in the middle of downtown and it will be gridlocked for blocks.

reveal video

Observations: blue face masks, block lettering, refreshed Honolulu Blue with classic silver pants (home), bright white with blue pants (road), no more WCF shoulder patch (it’s a small decal on the back of the helmet.)

Alternate jersey is black/black with blue helmet, throwback will continue to be the 1950s silver helmet with no logo, blue/silver.

pictures & description of all 4

teams are allowed 3 helmets, some seem to think the blue helmet introduced last year is gone (it’s unclear - might have been a one-off for the 90th season?) - this is the new alt helmet (blue with black logo)

also, the marshmallows (all whites) & the blueberries (all blues) are still on the table

MCDC asked for new blacks when he was hired; Rod Wood said “after you win the division.”

Going with the whiter numbers at home picked up the look. Those darker silver or grey numbers did not look good.

OK looking at their website it’s clear which 3 helmets they’re going with:
  1. the new silver w/ revised stripe + blue facemask
  2. the alt blue helmet with black logo
  3. classic all silver with no logo for the throwback uni
The blue helmet with the “long Lion” logo from the 60s was indeed just a one-off to commemorate their 90th season in Detroit.

I think that would qualify as 2. If you can remove the logo/stripes and change facemask color and nothing else, that constitutes the same helmet. Then the separate all blue helmet as the 2nd helmet.

Turns out you are correct!

Thanks :hifive:

Throwback helmets don’t count per an NFL memo earlier this month. Teams have the option to add a 3rd helmet this year or next, the Lions opted for the latter.

Kerby Joseph out and will be unable to practice until training camp.
Suffered an undisclosed injury to his hip in conference championship. Had incurred a hip injury earlier that he had been playing through

yeah got hurt Week 2 v Seattle, missed a few games, played through it all year - partly why his play fell off a shade from the previous season

only other Safeties under contract rn are Iffy Melifonwu and Brandon Joseph. been rumors they have been in talks with Tracy Walker for a return at Vet minimum. I def think S is on their draft wishlist if the board falls the right way. although the top priorities are probably CB, ED, WR, G & C. Thankfully none of those are gaping holes so they'll be able to stay within their BPA (who also checks all of their boxes as a football player.)

The black uniforms with the blue numbers and blue helmet are badass. Way better than the all greys. I liked the old uniforms, so I was happy they just tweaked them a bit. Hopefully we will see those black uni's on the field during the Super Bowl.

I think we do see Walker back. He was in Detroit this week.

Saturday afternoon might be your best bet for anything resembling a family atmosphere.

If I was drafting, I would be looking for a shutdown CB. My ideal pick would be if Nate Wiggins fell to us, but odds are he will get snatched up in the early 20's. Highly competitive with good height and elite speed and athleticism to stay with anyone. A bit lanky so his value against run game is limited. To me, he fits our needs better than Kool-Aid. But we will see what Brad cooks up. I don't see Brad standing still, but I would rather trade up a bit than down.

That was the plan, but now it looks like weather may play a factor. Oh, my daughter is 20 for what it's worth.

Weather is starting to look better than originally projected. Rain to stop around noon when day 3 drafting begins. Highs in the 70's.

A little too thin and not good in run support Lions may pass on Wiggins if he’s there.
