The online speculation building up to this one definitely enhanced the overall experience. Great marketing plan.

There are dozens of posts about the film in the horror subreddit and it's part of a subgenre of Korean horror thrillers that are widely considered horror. It belongs IMO.
Agreed. Put yourself in the shoes of the protagonist in this film and then tell me its not horror.

bet I can also find dozens of posts by people who think the earth is flat, doesn’t make it so

Right but there are many many more people who say the earth is round. And from what I can see, there are many many more people who count these Korean thrillers as horror than there are who don't. Bad analogy to begin with though. You're talking about something objective (earth is round) vs. something subjective (is it horror)
Keep fighting the good fight gb, because you are right.

This is a weird one that requires a massive suspension of disbelief - how the hell does Rutger Hauer keep finding C. Thomas Howell, and why is nobody else traveling on this particular highway? - but it's tense and suspenseful. The pacing is also excellent, with basically no padding or downtime, and Hauer is great as the villain. This movie also freaked me out as a kid, so it has some personal nostalgia value that probably bumped it up my rankings a bit.

Easily the best sequel of this franchise. Nice to look back and see Patricia Arquette and Lawrence Fishburne. Not too scary but pretty fun
I agree here, but I also think Nightmare is the main franchise of the 80s that holds up the least. The idea is awesome, but once we get to Freddy quipping all the time and Power Gloving it up, it's gets pretty bad.

The podcast I recommended has a fun series this year: Nature Bites Back.
I’ve been listening and enjoying the podcast, thanks for the recommendation.
@Tick Did you start at the beginning with slashers, or somewhere else?
I picked a few slashers and folk, then jumped to zombies :shades:
Awesome! I am not sure I've listened to that one yet. My favorites so far were the Folk and Mind & Body. Hope you keep enjoying it! I've gotten a few new suggestions from the podcast and really liked some new-to-me movies.

Don't forget Naked Gun 33 1/3!

He actually was in more heralded films like Escape from Alcatraz and The Right Stuff (and what I think was the 1st NC-17 American theatrical release in Henry & June, also starring the French girl from Pulp Fiction).

This is one I need to watch asap. When looking through the horror reddit to see if it was horror or not, I saw many, many comments that this is an amazing movie (and confirmation that it is horror). I know there's a few of these Korean crime thrillers that are also lumped into the horror genre.
Need to watch it again as I don't remember much. I thought at the time it was a little underwhelming considering the hype.

#88 - Creep

Looking for work, Aaron comes across a cryptic online ad: “$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated. Low on cash and full of naivete, he decides to go for it. He drives to a cabin in a remote mountain town where he meets Josef, his cinematic subject for the day. Josef is sincere and the project seems heartfelt, so Aaron begins to film. But as the day goes on, it becomes clear that Josef is not who he says, and his intentions are not at all pure.
