Another vote for Ryans. That last game against Tennessee should honestly put this vote out of reach. I'm not a believer in Campbell. If you want to give the Detroit front office votes, I'm good with that, but some of Campbell's coaching game calls have been head-scratchingly bad.
Had Kupp last year and was burned by his truncated season. Told myself that I wouldn’t have him on any teams this year. Never took him in any mocks. But god help me, when he was staring at me at pick #29 (0.5 PPR, 12 teams) , I bit. The price may be getting low enough that a decent risk/reward...
Totally agree. I have no problem if armchair critics in here don't like something just because. But if you are claiming to be "professional" you probably need to lay out your rationale a little better. To say "the creative people behind the music have [changed]" is a little disingenuous -...
Oh trust me, my parents listened to that worse country. And fair enough about the Statler Brothers, maybe I was a little harsh. That said, I'm going to regretfully sit it out when Anarchy starts the Statler Brothers song countdown.
Another song that I wish had found its way onto the album. It's weird, because I don't enjoy the Final Cut at all, but I love this similar, angry Roger Waters song. Much like "Empty Spaces/What Shall We do Now" it may be because, in my opinion, the scenes in the movie where this particular...
I love, love, love the movie version of this song. The slow, ominous buildup followed by Waters' screaming out the remainder of the "bricks." In my mind, I can't separate it from Gerald Scarfe's animation. Such good stuff, I absolutely hate that it was cut from the album.
So this song brings up my Pink Floyd origin story.
Flashback to summer, 1980. I’m 8 years old. My parents are out and I have a babysitter. Back in yon olden days, the only avenue for listening to music in my house was the living room stereo. No boombox yet, no Walkman. This was before cassette...
No Final Cut songs on my list either. With a gun to my head, Not Now John probably would be the closest to making it for me. I have no problem with f-bombs, but it all comes across as so un-Floydian, I can't deal with it in this case.
Saw them on the AMLOR tour for their second go-around in the US on May 20, 1988 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, WI. Setlist was exactly the same, except they apparently added "Great Gig in the Sky" to the set on 2 March 1988 right before "Wish you Were Here" (so you may have had one...
I'm a couple years older than you, and was huge into Floyd pre-AMLOR, but was still so psyched when that album come out because I never thought I would see the day when my favorite band was on MTV, top-40 radio, etc. That was a hell of a big deal for me at that point of time. Not to mention...
Agree completely on everything here - well said. And yes, what you listen to in your formative years often defines you but it's still very cool when you can discover something that strikes you later too. Your description of "discovering" Tom Petty matches mine with Fleetwood Mac. As a child...
