This is exactly how we do it. Top seed chooses first round opponent. Everyone loves it. Each playoff round is also two weeks, which tends to favor the better, deeper teams, but that's a different topic altogether.

This seems like a pretty good deal for team A.

The fact that you brought it here for third party opinions proves you're interested in the integrity of your league. No way does this get vetoed. It wouldn't even make a stop at my desk on its trip to Approvalville.
